Fujifilm GFX100: Most Compelling Reason to Step Up from Full Frame

Share

Fujifilm GFX100

The Fujifilm GFX100 is getting tons of positive feedback so far, and it seems that reviewers can’t really believe they are holding a medium format sensor camera in their hands, since everything with a digital sensor bigger than 35mm was notoriously slow.

The Fujifilm GFX100 changed the game: it is fast and responsive, despite having a 70% larger sensor than full frame and 100 megapixel. And thanks to IBIS, it is also versatile.

I am sure: Fujifilm has winner here!

Also Cameralabs went hands on with the Fujifilm GFX100. Down below are his findings and his video above:

  • improved handling and usability. GFX100 is high resolution, but you can easily shoot handheld
  • noticably faster AF than previous GFX cameras
  • IBIS transforms usability. OIS and IBIS do not work together
  • vertical grip is not ideal in terms of handling and usability, and joystick is harder to reach
  • best EVF he has ever used
  • mode dial allows you to swtich between stills, video and multi mode. Video settings are stored completely independent from stills settings
  • he’d like even larger buttons and dials, and a D-Pad
  • outstanding resolution, even when shot handheld, thanks to IBIS
  • boost in resolution compared to GFX50, without losing dynamic range and adding ISO noise
  • rolling shutter: in video much reduced compared to stills
  • outstanding details without compromising dynamic range or noise, something a full frame camera would struggle with
  • so much more responsive than traditional medium format, but not as fast as the fastest X series camera
  • step up in quality over full frame
  • the body, GFX lenses have been waiting for
  • most useable and desireable medium format to date
  • most compelling reasons to step up from full frame for best quality#
