Fujifilm Manager Explains Impact and Challenges of Covid-19, from Fujifilm X-T4 Shipping to Huge Increase in Online Printing

- Fujifilm medical division is very busy at the moment, trying to support the national UK health care system
- Big changes also for the imaging division. They try to find ways to offer that face-to-face interaction they have in store now also online [admin note: Fuji UK recently launched a massive project, the “House of Photography”, which now is closed]
- For safety reasons, Fujifilm closed the House of Photography much before the government decided for the lockdown
- Fujifilm started to see effects of Cornavirus on camera production in January
- because of that, Fujifilm split the launch of the silver and black X100V (the silver shipped almost 1 month before the black one)
- Fujifilm wanted to release the Fujifilm X-T4 sooner, but it was affected by the coronavirus outbreak
- The Fujifilm X-T4 is still forecasted to come in late April, but what Fujifilm will stagger, is the availability of body only vs kits
- they will start with body only, so to allow people, who are already in the Fuji system, to upgrade. Kits will follow a few weeks later
- Fujifilm service department is still functioning, although it is a bit more limited for safety reasons
- all camera manufacturers are facing similar challenges. This time of the year usually there are a lot of new products and announcements
- Fujifilm has seen a massive increase in online printing
- People stay at home, and one of the big things to do for photographers is organizing their photos
- in this uncertain and stressful times, going through old images, remember holidays, weddings, brithdays and so forth is a good way for people to feel good about themselves and be confident that they will get through this and look forward to see again their friends and family. What better way to do that than looking through pictures and print. We will get through this and create new memories
- before buying new products, people start their research online, and then they go to the store, touch and try, and make their buying decisions
- he predicts a big spike in camera sales, when people will be allowed to get back to normal life
