Fuji Guy Francis highlights the new features of the Fujifilm X-S10, GFX100 and GFX100S firmware updates after the firmware update released on June 30th 2021.
The Straits Times posted a short video, with clips from inside the Fujifilm factory in Sendai.
Interestingly, at some point they display a rendering of the Fujifilm GFX100S, basically a Fuji GFX50S marked as 100S. I don’t know if they were confused and just made an incredible error, or if they just wanted to hint something to us :)
Anyway, here are some facts we hear in the video:
When he says about “image sensor being produced” he probably means “assembled on the GFX“, since it is produced by Sony.
The Fujifilm GFX 100 megapixel camera is big, but how big is compared to other cameras with integrated battery grip, the Nikon D5 and the Canon 1Dx MK II?
I thought I am going to check this out in today’s article.
Just for fun, I did throw in the brand new Fujifilm GFX 50R in the comparison.
The size is about the same of the Nikon D5 and Canon 1Dx MK II, but consider that the Fujifilm GFX 100S has a 1.7x larger sensor in it as well as in body image stabilization (IBIS), and no course no mirror.
Seen from the top (images below), the Fujifilm GFX 100S much more protruding viewfinder makes it thicker overall. I remind you, that you can remove the viewfinder on the Fujifilm GFX 100S. Might be handy if you want to store it in the bag, since it makes the camera sensibly sleeker.
At the very bottom you can see the real life size comparison between the Fujifilm GFX 100S, GFX 50S and GFX 50R, that I made at during my stay at Photokina. You can see that, with battery grip attached, the Fujifilm GFX 50S is actually slightly bigger than the Fujifilm GFX 100 megapixel.
I also added a size comparison between the Fujifilm GFX 100 megapixel versus the Sony A7III, Canon EOS R, Nikon Z7 and Nikon D850, but those cameras do not have an integrated battery grip.
Fujifilm just uploaded the Fujifilm GFX 50R and Fujifilm GFX 100S product catalogue

Today Fujifilm will unveil the Fujifilm GFX 50R and the Fujifilm GFX 100S. The press event starts at 07:30 AM New York time.
And yep, I am here at Photokina 2018, and today I smuggled myself through the security controls and took a look at the Fujifilm booth, which they are building up right now.
Sadly the press conference room is under the highest level of control, and no chance to enter without press-card.
However, I noticed 2 Fuji guys entering the press hall, and one was holding a rangefinder medium format film camera in his hand (maybe the Fujifilm GF670, but it was hard to see exactly).
It’s pretty clear that they are going to show their rangefinder medium format heritage to the press, and then unveil the long rumored Fujifilm GFX 50R (which you can see who it looks like here).
Of course I will be live blogging non stop, so make sure to stay tuned on FujiRumors via Facebook, Instagram, RSS-feed and Twitter and to join our Fujiflm GFX facebook group as well as our Fujifilm GFX page.
P.S.: and of course on the way to Cologne I stopped at the Oktoberfest… it was simply fantastic… at least so they told me, since I can’t remember that much ;). But now I am back full power and ready for the ultimate blogging on FujiRumors!
According to our sources, the final announcement (with full specs & price) of the Fujifilm GFX 100S is currently scheduled for the 2nd quarter of 2019 (April to June). This is a long term rumor, so from here to spring 2019 Fujifilm might change date. I’ll make sure to inform you if this happens.
My guess is that it will be around April/May, hence shorty ahead (or exactly at) photokina 2019, which will take place from May 8 to 11.
As we told you recently, there will be a “development annoncement” of the Fujifilm GFX 100S already on September 25, 2018 at 07:30 AM New York time. We won’t get the full specs nor the price, but we will see mock-ups and maybe even working prototypes of the Fujifilm GFX 100S.
On the same day (September 25) Fujifilm will announce the Fujifilm GFX 50R.

Trusted sources just told to FujiRumors, that the Fujifilm GFX 100S development announcement will take place on the same day of the Fujifilm GFX 50R announcement, hence September 25 at 07:30 AM New York time.
“Development announcement” means we won’t get the specs (but we already know it will feature the BSI 100MP Sony sensor), however, you will see mockups and maybe even working prototypes of the Fujifilm GFX 100S.
As we already told you back in December 2017, the Fujifilm GFX 100S is rumored to be definitely more expensive than the Fujifilm GFX 50S.
So, this rumor ends here, but it’s not over yet :)

I have no rumors about it, but I guess that along with the Fujifilm GFX 100S and Fujifilm GFX 50R, we might also see some new GF lens announcements and maybe even a new GF lens roadmap.
In fact, according to the internal Fujinon GF lens roadmap we leaked back in April 2017, Fujifilm has still the following lenses in the pipeline:
The leaked roadmap says, that Fujifilm had to decide between the GF 100-200 or the GF 20-36mm for 2018, and at this point I believe GF 100-200 is more likely, with the GF 20-36 to be postponed to 2019. But that’s still my guess, more than a solid rumor.
And speaking of GF lenses, we also shared the following rumors:
Recently here on FujiRumors we published a major Fujifilm GFX 50R specs leak. We also wrote a follow up article about the crazy dreams and realistic expectations about the Fujifilm GFX 50R.
