Countermeasure for FUJIFILM Camera Remote Connection Failure

Countermeasure for FUJIFILM Camera Remote Connection Failure

Dear FUJIFILM Camera Remote customers,

We would like to thank you for your continued patronage of Fujifilm products.

We are pleased to announce that we will release the revised firmware for our digital cameras (GFX series and X series) today to address the issue we announced on October 11, 2024, via our website in “About FUJIFILM Camera Remote’s iOS18 support”.

This revised firmware will also fix the same issue with the latest Android smartphones that we confirmed.

On the other hand, we decided that we would not release the revision for some models.  Although we have been trying to fix this issue with these camera models, unfortunately we could not provide the revised firmware for these models due to the hardware limitations of the cameras, as they had been on the market for a long time.
Therefore, customers who use these cameras, please refer to the work-around solutions below, because FUJIFILM Camera Remote will no longer be available for these models.

We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and ask for your understanding.

Fujifilm’s Black Friday Deals in Europe: X-T50 joins the Deals and X-T5/X-S20 Get Increased Savings

Fujifilm’s Black Friday

Yesterday Fujifilm did launch its Black Friday deals in USA:

Buy a Fujifilm X-H2 body or with XF16-80 kit or Fujifilm X-H2S body and get a free FT-XH vertical grip and Delkin Devices Black CFexpress Type B 325G card.

Make sure the deal runs at your official Fujifilm retailer. If for example the CFexpress card is out of stock they might bundle it with another item and the savings could be different.

For example, Adorama has the deal, but Amazon has the deal only with the Card whereas BHphoto at the moment only with grip.

European Black Friday Deals

Now also Europe has joined with its own campaign.

In addition the the current deals which will run in most countries until January, new Black Friday deals have been added, which will mostly end in the first week of December.

We see:

  • X-T50 joined the deals all over Europe
  • in UK the X-T5 now got an even better rebate (now £300 off instead of £250)
  • in UK the X-S20 now got an even better rebate (now £200 or £250 with kit off instead of £120)

For UK, you can see all deals listed at WexPhotoVideo here as well as below.

If you buy at Amazon, make sure the item is shipped and sold by Amazon.

Fujifilm Bluetooth Wireless Remote Shutter Release with M5Stack

A couple of weeks ago, in our FR-reader wishlist roundup, FR-reader Keith wished for the following: a wireless remote shutter release for a Fuji GFX100 II, that does not require a transmitter and cable connection, and does not require a phone, like Canon is offering with the Canon BR-E1.

Well, there seems to be a DIY solution for that, as also mentioned by Keith. You’ll have to use the M5Stack M5StickC Plus ESP32-PICO Mini IoT Development Kit.

So, first you have to get the M5Stack, which is available globally at Amazon. There is also a newer version of the M5Stack, which you still don’t find everywhere, but it is listed also at some Amazon branches such as Amazon DE here and Amazon IT here, but you can also get it at shop.m5stack.

In any case, it will work with all of these M5Stack versions.

Once you have the device you load the firmware available at Github here on it. The firmware upload can now also be done via the installer web page here.

Done that, it will work as a bluetooth wireless remote shutter release.

You can see the list of Fujifilm cameras on which it has been tested to work at Github here.

On the project page, there is a section for ‘Installation’ (see here) which has a link to the recommended ‘Easy Web Install’ (see here).
