Fujirumors: Your Window to Photokina! FULL X-WORLD COVERAGE: News, Images, Curiosities and more… stay tuned!

 photo photokinaX_zps022707d9.jpg

Photokina just started, but the majority of us mere mortals will remain at home, at work, or simply can’t afford the long journey to Cologne… and I am one of those.

But Fujirumors will be the window to photokina for all X-shooters around the world. I’ll search the web for everything of interest around the X-system… and you can help! If you find something interesting on the web too, or if you actually are at photokina and have a quick report or a useful information to share with other X-enthusiasts, then feel free to drop me an email at fujirumor [at] gmail.com. Or use the rumor box to contact me anonymously.

So follow Fujirumros also via facebook, google+, RSS-feed and twitter.

Meet Rico Pfirstinger on Thursday (18SEP) between 10.00 and 11.30 AM at Photokina and ask him anything about Fuji X! Hall 4.1, Booth C27/D24 (d.punkt Verlag).

Switch to the X

Matt Russell: “Patrick, Well, I finally did it. I sold my Canon 5D Mark II with 5 lenses and bought a X-T1 with the 10-24mm, 55-200, and the 56mm. After having bought the X100s and been impressed with it, I can’t say how impressed I am with the X-T1 and the lenses. I’m starting to branch out in my photography (portraits, street, etc) which I felt inhibited by the size, bulk, and attention my Canon gear garnered. I would have to pick and choose which Canon gear to leave home as it all wouldn’t fit into my gear bag. I now carry all my Fuji gear (X-T1, 3 lenses, X100S) and have room to spare and less of a load. I couldn’t be happier with my decision. I will never go back to a DSLR.” mjrussellphotography.com/latestmjrussellphotography.com/gallery/places/connecticu

KAIZEN

Chris: “I’d like to know more about Fujifilm plans for open source software. I’d like to be able to interact with my camera via an api, and create customizations/plugins that change the way the camera operates. There is Magic Lantern www.magiclantern.fm, which does this for Canon cameras, but the best option would be for Fuji to lead the charge.” /

Instax Rules Them All: massive sales of Fuji’s instax film. Instax Cameras sell better than Fuji X-T1 and Sony A7r!

 photo bes_zps7d449a0a.jpg

Who said that film is dead?
Who said that instax cameras are dead?
And tell me, who said that Fujifilm makes beautiful cameras ;-)?

The demand for instax film is very high, especially in Asia. In fact it is so high that there is not much instax Film left for N.America and if it runs out of stock it could need a couple of moths before stores will be ready to ship the next batch of film.

Instax are winners! That’s why Fujifilm continues to develop new models. The latest one is the new INSTAX WIDE 300 camera, launched along with the X100T and graphite Fujifilm X-T1. My personal favorite is still the Instax Mini Neoclassic 90, launched about a year ago.

The success of the Instax cameras pushes, at the same time, the sales of Instax Film. And the earnings are used for developing the X-line, at least according FR-reader “rf”, who said in the comments: “I was talking with one of the Fuji Guys at an event a while back and he confirmed that Instax is where Fuji is making all their money in photography and it is in fact fueling the development cost of the X cameras.

But also X-shooters could have a good reason to buy Instax Film. In fact, you can connect the latest Fuji X cameras directly to the Instax SHARE Smartphone Printer SP-1 and print your shots just a few seconds after you’ve pressed the shutter button… btw, Fujifilm, direct Instax Printer support would be a nice feature to have also on my “old” X-E2. Time for a little bit of Kaizen.

So, APS-C? Full Frame? Medium Format?… no, it’s Instax that spanks them all, Zack ;-)!

cheers,
