Fujifilm updated the lens roadmap… but nothing new for FR-readers ;-)

 photo pic_01_zps48f6e2df.jpg

Fujifilm just updated the roadmap here. Nothing really new for Fujirumors readers. As rumored moths ago, there will be a 16mm f/1.4 and a 90mm f/2. The Super-Telephoto should be a 120-400, according to new sources. I’ve added the rumored roadmap at the bottom. Also updated, the right&wrong rumor list in 2014 and the reliability rating.

So what’s new? Well, Fuji gave us an expected availability for the lenses and it seems that the new primes (90 and 16) won’t be weather resistant. Also, the 16-55 seems to have no OIS anymore.

“FUJIFILM Corporation (President: Shigehiro Nakajima) is pleased to release an updated road map for X mount interchangeable lenses.

A large-diameter medium telephoto lens (the XF90mmF2 R) features for the first time on the development road map for end 2015. The next available lens will be the XF50-140mm F2.8 R LM OIS WR. Following on from the XF18-135mm lens, this will be Fujifilm’s second weather resistant lens designed to partner its X-T1 camera.

Other updates to the road map include the previously announced “Ultra-wide angle lens” being confirmed as the “XF16mmF1.4 R” with a guide launch date of mid 2015. And the planned launch of the XF16-55mmF2.8 R WR lens moving to Spring 2015 and the Super Tele-Photo Zoom lens to Winter 2015.

Highly regarded for their outstanding image quality, resolution and well-built bodies, the unique X mount lens range now includes super-wide angle to super-telephoto range lenses and a large-diameter lens with rich bokeh and high resolution.”

Impressive OIS: XF 18-135 samples of Rico on Flickr

 photo Amazon30_zps3c5afeb1.jpg

USA: BHphoto / AmazonUS / Adorama / – EUROPE: wexUKwexDE / PCHstore – / AUSTRALIA: Camerapro

The 18-135 is coming. It’s already available in Asia, in some stores in Europe and expected to come in USA by the end of this month.

In the meantime, X-guru Rico was in Berlin with a production version of the first weather resistant lens of Fujifilm and he shared some full size samples on his Flickr here. All the night shots were taken handheld using the 5 stop OIS at shutter speeds between 1/4s and 1/15s…. impressive results! You can leave your tripod at home now ;-).

X-shooter FB zone: “Fuji must be doing something right to attract so many talented artists.” (Sony Photographer Christopher)

Nick Franchi: FujiFilm XT1 12mm Zeiss …. Teton National Park

_ _ _

I’d like to introduce you to today’s X-shooter facebook zone (featuring the most liked images you shared on facebook), with the words of Sony photographer Christopher.

Christopher said in the comments to this X-shooter post here:

“I’m surprised that posts like these don’t get more comments, because these posts are such an inspiration to me. I’m not a Fuji shooter (and I can’t afford to switch systems), but I check this site every day just to see what people are doing with their X cameras. These X-shooter Zone posts are often the highlight of my internet week, because I am constantly impressed by what the Fuji community is doing photographically.

I know that what I’m seeing has more to do than just what a certain camera can do–these photographers would be skilled with whatever system they’re using. Yet for some reason, be it the style of photography that seems to attract X shooters or something else, the amount of high-quality and interesting photography that your community produces astounds me.

I’m a Sony shooter myself, and I love my camera and my workflow, but (and I know this shouldn’t bother me), I feel that I have no kindred spirits in the Sony world–I’ve yet to come across the work of another Sony photographer that speaks to me like the work of so many of these Fuji photographers. Maybe it’s just that SAR and the other E-mount forums aren’t highlighting the right work, or maybe it really is the camera’s potential or some other reason, but I feel compelled to acknowledge that as a lover of photography regardless of brand names, these X shooter posts have really helped to shape my photographic vision (even though I don’t own a Fuji camera).

I understand the love of photography your cameras instill, and I just want to say thank you. Maybe I’ll be one of you someday, and maybe not, but Fuji must be doing something right to attract so many talented artists. Keep up the good work and I’m sure that many more people than are represented in the comments here appreciate your work!”

There is nothing to add to these wonderful words… well, just the images ;-)

enjoy, and let’s take some awesome shots today,

I name you 3 metamorphoses of photography: from the camel (DSLR) to the lion (MILC) and finally to the child (FUJI-X)!

F. Nietzsche: “I name you three metamorphoses of the spirit: how the spirit shall become a camel, and the camel a lion, and the lion at last a child

1) Camel (DSLR): carry a lot of weight, stuck in old mental schemes and values.
2) Lion (MIRRORLESS): break your habits. Don’t be a slave of old conventions and values. Get rid of the weight, the “thou shalt”.
3) Child (FUJI X): have fun again, be free, and have a new look at… photography.

At the end of the metamorphoses we will experience “pure joy” with photography, like the little Sherpa in Richard Simko’s video (richardsimko.com/blog).

Personally, the X-series helped me to have fun again and rediscover photography (and therefore take better pictures). But, whatever is your way to reach the spirit of the child, be brave, and go for it.

And now travel… light, free and possibly X ;-)

enjoy your day,
facebook, google+, RSS-feed and twitter

P.S.: And pardon me for this rather unconventional post. It’s not a news, nor a rumor… it’s just, I’m on holiday with a Nikon shooter (and an Olympus shooter), and when I saw him carrying his heavy gear on the beach, he really looked like a camel :-). So I had the idea of this post.

Nikon + one lens VS Fuji + two lenses

First evening of my holidays: the advantage to be able to see what you get in the X-E2’s EVF. My friend (Nikon shooter), still adjusting the exposure… FR already shared the shot on facebook. And to be clear, it’s not a dead rat the child is holding, just an umbrella ;-) .
