DPReview Says Instax Square SQ10 is “Less Fun than it Should be” :: The Ultimate Instax Camera 2017 Comparison

Fujifilm Instax Square SQ10 Review

A couple of months ago, Fujifilm launched its first square instax camera, the Fujifilm Instax SQ10, a hybrid instax/digital camera. So is it as fun to use like all other “traditional” Fujifilm Instant cameras?

DPReview tested it… and didn’t really like it. The image quality is not good in low light. This, and some other Cons, make it “less fun than it should be” according to DPReview.

The good thing: they think the square format is “lovely”, and thanks to the fact that you can review the images before printing, you safe a lot of money on the expensive Instant sheets.

They end up recommending to take your pictures with a smartphone and use the Instax SP-2 printer to print your images (but it’s not square format).

Read the full review at DPReview.

I’d really have loved Fuji to implement WiFi to the Instax SQ10, so that I could connect my camera/smartphone to it and print some nice square images.

Lauren
Instax SQ10 Review + Ultimate Instax 2017 comparison

There is another Instax Square SQ10 review by Lauren on youtube. She says:

  • the magic “take the photo and see what you got” is gone, since you can review the images on the screen before printing, but on the other hand you safe on expensive Instax film. And if you still want the classic instax experience, you can set it that it immediatly prints when you snap the image.
  • No viewfinder (only LCD screen) to compose the shots
  • some usability issues (like you always have to press the shutter again after you took an image, to make the preview of the previous image disappear from the LCD)
  • you can get really close to subject for Macros

First Godox XT1-F Hands On Report and Damien Lovegrove Final Godox Testing

The Godox Flash system is currently one of the best (if not the best) option for Fujifilm Shooters looking for a solid (and extremely affordable) flash system.

There is a great buzz about the Godox flash at our huge 14,000 GFX facebook group. And here are two Godox reports you should not miss.

The first one comes from David Ward (dmwfotos.com), who is using the Godox X1T-F controller already. The second one from Damien Lovegrove, who switched from Cactus to Godox and is now sharing his feedback on the group.

X-series Unlimited eBook

Fujifilm X Photographer Dan Bailey wrote a Fuji guide called X SERIES UNLIMITED. It’s a 50K word, 329-page eBook. He describes very single feature, function and menu item and detail how they can be used in real life shooting situations as well as pro insight and practical tips. He also talks about how to operate the cameras efficiently, how to shoot fast action with the X Series cameras, how to tweak the film simulations and customize the look of their imagery, and how to customize the operation of the camera in a way that matches their own shooting style and more.
