The Mirrorless Endgame Begins: Fujifilm GFX 100 Announcement on May 23

Fujifilm GFX 100

According to our trusted sources, the Fujifilm GFX100 will be announced on May 23.

I am so excited to finally see this beast unveiled, that I created a fan-made Fujifilm GFX100 announcement trailer on my youtube channel.

Don’t take the trailer too seriously, though. Of course the Fujifilm GFX100 won’t destroy half of the camera universe. It’s just I am super-pumped to see Avengers Endgame, too, and I guess my brain just merged my excitements into the trailer you see above.

And yet, the mirrorless endgame really begins. Camera companies try to find a way to survive in a declining market, but it’s clear that there is no space for all to flourish.

Fujifilm tries to survive by avoiding the full frame mud fight and by dropping medium format beasts and agile hybrid APS-C cameras to the market.

If that will work out or not, only time will tell.

All I know is that I will be here, on May 23, to give you the most epic live blogging ever seen on FujiRumors.

Stick around guys, because this is just the beginning of a long rumor marathon ;).

DJI Ronin S to add Fujifilm X-T3 Support

DJI Ronin S

The DJI Ronin S is a very popular 3-Axis Gimbal stabilizer (check out the AmazonUS customer reviews), and so it is no surprise that I keep up getting questions about if it finally will support Fujifilm cameras.

Finally today I can give you an answer. :)

FR-reader Mario (Instagram at @ummario) informed me that DJI now officially said on their forum, they are working on a firmware update to add Fujifilm X-T3 support.

I looks like the stellar Fujifilm X-T3 sales convinced DJI that it might be worth the effort!

Fujifilm X Photographer Shares Fujinon XF 33mm f/1.0 Image on Instagram. Beta Testing Started?

Fujinon XF 33mm f/1.0

Russian wedding photographer and official Fujifilm X photographer Alexey Malyshev (instagramfujifilm profile) just shared this instagram story, where he publicy asks people to guess which lens is mounted on his Fujifilm X-T3 (or maybe X-T2).

He gave us a hint: it’s not for sale yet.

Easy, this is definitely the Fujifilm Fujinon XF 33mm f/1.0 R WR lens, which is scheduled for 2020 release.

I am not sure, but Alexey posts could indicate that the beta testing program just started, but it could also be just a dummy*. In any case I will follow his instagram now, and in case I see images with razor thing DOF, I will let you know ;).

*UPDATE: Jonas Rask said in the comments to this post it is just a dummy, since it does not mount properly

Would be great if any Russian FR-reader could entirely translate what Alexey wrote in his instagram story [UPDATE: translation came in, thanks. Read below].

Who can guess what lens it is? If lens will be guessed, I gonna show some new super gun. Hint: It’s not even for sale yet.

Here on FujiRumors we have discussed the Fujinon XF33mm f/1.0 R WR extensively, for example:

Fujifilm X-H1 Body Marked as Discontinued. Only Grip Kit Sold from Now On. No Fujifilm X-H2 on the Horizon

UPDATE: Our sources quickly contacted us and said the Fujifilm X-H1 will only be sold as a grip kit from now on

The Fujifilm X-H1 body is now marked as discontinued at BHphoto.

You can still find the X-H1 available bundled with the vertical grip, though.

Other stores, like Adorama, have the Fujifilm X-H1 body still in stock.

Now I hear you say, that the Fujifilm X-H2 is around the corner. Of course I am investigating, and I think I can post an update about the Fujifilm X-H2 pretty soon.

But for now all I can say is: no, there ain’t going to be a Fujifilm X-H2 anytime soon, as we already told you here.

Thanks for the anonymous tip ;)
