Fujifilm X-H1 announcement

Hey all,

Unlike the X-E3, which was announced at 4PM Tokyo time, the upcoming Fujifilm X-H1, the Fujinon MK X mount Cine lenses and the firmware updates for GFX and X-T20 will be announced at 2PM Toyko time, which means:

  • Midnight in New York
  • Feb. 14 at 9 PM in San Francisco
  • Feb. 15 at 6 AM in Berlin

In order to manage my impatience for the imminent Fujirumors Live Blogging, I made a little Fujifilm X-H1 announcement trailer.

The Hidden Fujifilm X-H1 Specs that Fujifilm Does not Mention in Specs Sheets: SD Relay Recording and More!

Earlier today I have shared the detailed X-T2 Vs. X-H1 comparison, focussing on the differences between these two cameras.

And even though the Fujifilm X-H1 specs have been taken from the leaked specs sheet here, there are some things, that Fujifilm does not mention to you.

So, new rumor for you today:

  • Fujifilm X-H1 will have SD Relay Recording, which means that when one SD-card gets full while you record your video, then the camera automatically continues to record to other card. That’s not possible on the Fujifilm X-T2 currently.

But there is more. As we shared in earlier rumors:

  • shorter EVF blackout (I’m sure it will be shorter compared to X-T2, but we have to see how much shorter)
  • Face detection will be available in 4K video

Sure, these are technically still only rumors, but I am confident they are correct. In the meantime, I have updated our in depth Fujfiilm X-T2 vs. X-H1 specs comparison.

Fujifilm X-H1 Vs. X-T2 Specs Comparison

Fujifilm X-H1 Vs. Fujifilm X-T2

Now that the Full Specs of the Fujifilm X-H1 are leaked, I want to give you guys a clear view of where the differences between the X-H1 and the X-T2 are. This is why I made a table that you can check out below or download the PDF on my dropbox.

Remember… it contains (almost) only differences between X-T2 and X-H1. So keep in mind that sensor, processor and other specs are the same.

If you want to see the full list of X-H1 specs (even those identical to X-T2), then check out this blog post.

The Fujifilm X-H1 wins hands down in the video compartment and in build quality. It has a superior autofocus and more features (such as electronic first curtain shutter and flickering reduction mode).

On the other hand, the X-T2 (which has no IBIS, no touch screen and less features), has a slightly longer battery life overall and also minimal better buffer in continuous shooting. The X-T2 also has a slightly bigger EVF compared to the X-H1 (x0.77 magnification Vs. x0.75 magnification), but the one of the X-H1 has much more resolution.

Please note that the leaked specs are not complete. They do not mention that the X-H1 has a shorter EVF black out and that face detection works in 4K video.

Also note, that some of the current advantages of the X-H1 could be firmware based only. The X-T2 might or might not get some of these feature in future via firmware update. I have added a “NOTE” column, where I tell you where a firmware update might be possible.
