Californian Company converting Zeiss Loxia E-mount Lenses to Fuji X Mount – New Source

loxia

Back in spring 2013, Zeiss launched 2 Touit lenses for Fuji X mount, the 32mmF1.8 and 12mmF2.8… and it was a huge fiasco.

Zeiss failed not because their lenses were bad… not at all. It’s just that they were too similar in focal length to existing Fujinon lenses, more expensive, and optically not superior (probably even inferior) to the XF35mmF1.4 and XF14mmF2.8. More at the ultimate Zeiss Touit Vs. Fujinon XF shootout.

Since then, Zeiss added one more Touit lens to the line-up, the 50mmF2.8 1:1 Macro, and that’s it, no more X-mount lenses… and as far as I know, Zeiss has currently no plans to offer new X-mount lenses.

However, according to a new source (so take it with a grain of salt), there is right now a company in California, that is right now converting the E-mount Zeiss Loxia lenses to Fuji X Mount!

The Zeiss Loxia offer currently consists in the following 3 lenses: the 21mmF2.8, the 35mmF2 and the 50mmF2 (specs&price for each lens at BHphoto / AmazonUS / FocusCamera / Adorama)

Could the Loxia X-mount sell well amongst X-shooters? I have my doubts, as we are spoiled by the excellent (and currently also super-discounted) Fujinon glass, so it’s hard to compete with it.

Some third party X-mount lenses, though, have become very popular amongst X-shooters, like the (very affordable) Samyang 12mmF2 (which I own and just can recommend).

I personally do not feel the need of the Loxia glass, but I’m also a friend of the good old saying: the more, the merrier!

Trusted Source: X-Pro2 Bug-Fix Firmware Coming Soon :: Fujifilm New Jersey says to FR-reader FW release end of this week

follwo

It’s confirmed now by a Trusted Source: the reset issue is fixable via Firmware.

When will it come? FR-reader Silvestro had a call with Fuji New Jersey and shared what they told him here:

I talked to at the New Jersey facility said they knew all about it…it had happened to them actually […] he also said that by the end of the week there would be a Firmware fix

I can’t confirm for now the “end of this week FW-fix“, but it’s good to know that it’s not a hardware issue. And of course, trusted or not, the past has shown us that when it comes to Firmware updates, we should always take it with a grain of salt… even if it’s Fujifilm itself, who announces them ;)

Get Instant Notification as soon as the Firmware is online by following this FXF-thread and/or following FujiRumors on Facebook, RSS-feed and Twitter.

Fuji X-Pro2 Firmware update coming soon! (New Source) – BUG FIX

FW

According to a new source, Fuji will release a Bug Fix Firmware Update for the Fujfiilm X-Pro2.

One Bug should be the “Reset-Issue“. The Source said:

Fuji is fully aware of the problem and they’re on the way to release a firmware update, they identified the problem and no hardware is concerned.

Good to know that a Firmware update will fix it :)

RUMOR :: Fujifilm XF120mmF2.8 Release Delayed to last quarter of 2016!

pospotpo

Whenever it comes to announcement dates, shipping estimates, Firmware release dates and so forth I’m scared to share rumors. Because, as you know, Fujifilm can change plans in any moment, and actually most of the 16% wrong rumors I’ve shared in 2015 were just wrong, because Fuji changed plans.

And this is another case where I got information from reliable source, but since it’s something Fuji can change again in any moment, I invite you to be careful with this information anyway.

That said, I absolutely trust this source, and I’m confident that what I’m going to share with all of you now, is the current plan of Fujifilm.

According to this source, the XF120mmF2.8 WR OIS, originally scheduled for July release according to the roadmap you can see above, has now been postponed to the last quarter of 2016.

Maybe (but this is NOT part of the rumor) a reason for the delay could be that Fujifilm is currently focussing on the XF23mmF2 WR lens, which, although not in the official roadmap, is rumored to be released even before the XF120mm. Fujifilm might consider this lens a priority over the 120mm. A good choice? Say it in the Poll:

Should Fujifilm postpone the XF120mm launch and release the XF23mmF2 WR first?

Ok, you’ve read it here: it’s rumored that the Fujifilm X200 will come in the 2nd half of 2016 with a 18.5mm (28mm equiv.) lens, just like the Fujifilm X70

NOTE: Low Credibility Rumor for now. Moreover, this is a pretty early rumor, so take it with an extra portion of grain of salt.

But correct rumor or not, the FujiRumors community requested some Polls regarding it, and I’m glad to share them here on FujiRumors.
