Fujifilm Will Launch a Medium Format Camera (Top Trusted Japanese Source) :: New Source says it will be presented Photokina!

Recently, Fuji Manager Takeshi Ueno said here, that Fuji is investigating the Medium Format camera, but there are no concrete plans for now to make it, since “not everyone in the company is quite as convinced to make it.”

I’ve contacted our Top Trusted Japanese Source, and asked for clarification… and its answer is clear:

The Source said that the Digital Medium Format Fujifilm (with interchangeable lenses) already got Green Light from the Management.

Yep, the Medium Format Fuji will come!

– – -End of the trusted rumor… and you can forget the Grain of Salt this Time :) – – –

But there is more.

I’ve been contacted by a New Source (thanks for sharing :) ), who told me that the Digital Medium Format Fujifilm Camera should be presented to the world at Photokina 2016 (late September). And yes, this time you guys have to Take it with a Grain of Salt.

So this seems to be Fuji’s future: an amazing & mature APS-C system + a Medium Format System… 2016 could really be a great Fuji Year.

And if priced somewhere between the Pentax 645D and the Pentax 645Z this camera could be a real winner for Fujifilm.

RUMOR :: Super-Fast Fujinon XF 33mmF1.0 to be presented at Photokina (New Source)

33

Just a few days ago, I’ve told you about how the X-Pro2 shows a 33mm frameline preview.

Now a New Source told us that we are following the right hint… this lens is on Fuji’s unofficial roadmap, and will be unveiled very likely at Photokina (September 2016).

Sure, take the grain of salt, not only because this information comes from a new Source (thanks for sharing, btw :) ), but also because this is a “long-term” rumor, which means that many things can happen during these months and product announcements dates can change any time… and in worst case also be canceled (like with the X-Pro1s, where I got plenty of shitstorm because of that “wrong” rumor, but on January 15 Fujifilm showed an X-Pro1 successor prototype called…. yep, X-Pro1s ;) ).

Anyway… this is another hint that something is coming… and what better event to unveil this Fujinon-gem, than Photokina 2016?

Proof of XF 33mmF1.0? :: Fuji X-Pro2 framelines preview shows “33”

framelines

There is one rumored lens, that makes many X-shooter dream: the super-fast XF33mmF1.0.

The first rumor about this lens has been shared back in April 2015 here. Since then I’ve worked with my sources, trying to confirm it… and chances are actually very high to see it become real one day. A trusted source told us in October 2015 here, that the decision at Fuji’s Headquarter is fallen: Fujifilm will make it (if Fuji doesn’t change plans again).

But, of course, a lot of time will pass between a decision at Managment Level and the release of a new product.

And here is an update:

mikemander (who tested a prototype X-Pro2) published a picture that shows a 33mm frameline preview on the pre-production X-Pro2. Could that be the 33mmF1?

stay tuned on FujiRumors… who knows if FR-sources can give me an update on this soon… and if they do, you’ll read it immediatly here on FujiRumors ;)

P.S.: thanks to the FXF community and the FR-readers, who told me about it at our Forum and via email

Fuji changes Shipping Embargo on X-Pro2 to Late February :: Fujifilm X70 Price Changes from $799 to $699!

While the Fujifilm X-Pro2 is having a well desevered great pre-order start (first in the CSC AmazonUS Camera Ranking), things does not seem to proceed that well for the little Fujifilm X70.

This might be the reason why the Fuji X70 price listed at stores changed from $799 to $699. It should be available on February 15.

Fujifilm also changed the shipping embargo on the X-Pro2. Here is the official statment that Fujfiilm send stores:

Due to a delay in shipping from the factory, we are revising the Sales Embargo date for the X-Pro2 camera body. In an effort to have inventory available at all of our retailers at the same time for the launch, we are EXTENDING the following Sales Embargo. X-Pro2 Body – Embargo on Retail Sales – EXTENDED until a TBD Date in Late February.”

And now you see why certain rumors (like firmware updates, shipping dates and price) are very difficult for me: Fuji can change it in any moment… even shortly after its launch.

After many hours of extreme X-Pro2 live blogging, I finally found the time to go through some of the plethora of first looks published about the X-Pro2… and each one is triggering my GAS more and more.

One of these was an interview with Fuji Manager Takeshi Ueno at bjp-online. The talk was about the X-Pro2, but at the end the journalist asked about Medium Format (rumored here), and Takeshi Ueno answered:

We are in a very good position to make a medium format camera, as we make camera bodies, sensors and lenses. We already make the lenses for Hasselblad, so we have that expertise.

At the moment Fuji is not planning to launch a medium format camera, but we are conducting research and testing sensors in this area.

We have a good history in the medium format market, and I think we would be successful again. We have the technology to make a very modern and high quality camera, but right now we are only investigating.”

At the end the journalist said:

Ueno agreed that now would be a very good time for Fuji to enter the market, but it seems that not everyone in the company is quite as convinced.”

Now add to this this rumor of one of our sources, who was right in the past, and we can start to be cautiously optimistic. In any case, if it ever becomes true, it probably won’t see the light that soon.

And just in case somebody at Fuji would be interested in our opinion (and you know they do, right?), then let’s say it in the comments and drop your vote in the Poll.

The Fujifilm X200 should have...
