Fujifilm Will Announce One More Product in 2016 – (Source Right in the Past)

The amazing Fujifilm year 2016 might not be over ;)

In fact, I’ve just received a hint, from a source, right it in the past (it contacts me anonymously using a nick-name), that Fujifilm is planing one more product announcement in 2016.

The source didn’t gave any other hint.

Regarding the X-series, I don’t think anything new will hit the market already in 2016. I expect the Fujifilm X-T20, dark grey (graphite?) X-Pro2, silver X-T2, X100F, XF50mm & possible surprises to be available only in 2017. But keep in mind that the source talked of “announcements“. So it’s possible that Fujifilm decided to anticipate the announcement of a certain X-related product to late 2016.

Another possibility is the official announcement of the instax square camera, that Fujifilm just started teasing on their youtube channel (see video below). However, the official instax square site says it will hit the market in spring 2017…. a bit to early for an announcement this year I think.

If there is anyone out there, who can help me to get closer to the truth regarding this announcement (or anything else), feel free to contact me at fujirumor [at] gmail [dot] com. I got one more hint, from an anonmyous source with nick name (thanks), that the upcoming EU-X deals starting tomorrow, will include a €100 price drop on the Fujifilm X-Pro2 (as well as prices drop on other cameras – like X-T1 – and lenses).

Please note that in Europe, every country can make some changes to the deals, or even do not offer them at all. I have information just about “some” countries.

At this point I’d like to send a message to sources (especially anonymous ones). First off thanks for sharing :)… and second: sometimes I receive pretty detailed information. I obviously handle everything with the greatest care and try to find what I believe the best way to share the information. But of course, the final world is up to you. So, if you share anonymously (meaning I have no possibility to know who you are and to contact you), you might also include some notes for me, about what I can share and what not. This would give me the certainty to handle everything as you desire it. If I do not get any indication, I will always share it in a way that I believe you will feel 100% comfortable with.

Fujifilm GFX – Price

Official Vietnamese Fujifilm Premium Reseller (with Fujifilm Showroom) Phú Quang Camera has the Fujifilm GFX with GF 63mm listed for sale for 189.900.000 VND ($8,500 – €7,700) here. They also say it will ship in February 2017. – thanks to the FR-reader for the link :)

Now, I don’t think that, at this stage, Fujifilm has set a 100% final price on the GFX. The camera is still in development and Fujifilm can change the supposed price tag anytime until its launch. And as indicated by dpreview here and by Swiss Fujifilm Managers here, the camera is more likely to hit the market in Spring (early spring according to the Swiss Manager)

At the moment, the only official statement Fujifilm made is that the Fujifilm GFX will cost “way under $10,000 (exlcuding tax)“.

Well, let’s grab this occasion to launch a survey. Sure, we all want it as cheap as possible, but the poll is about how much you would spend ** maximum ** on the Fujifilm GFX + 63mm. What’s your uppermost investment limit?

IT’S KAIZEN TIME

A trusted source just contacted me, and told me that not only the X-Pro2, but also the X-Pro1 and many Fujinon lenses will get a Firmware update soon. Here is what the source told us:

X-Pro2 Firmware

As already leaked here, the X-Pro2 FW 2.00 will bring a new and improved autofocus algorithm (faster and more accurate AF, more AF-points and AF tracking improvements), support for EF-X500 flash, Auto Power feature changes, and Corrected AF frame function improvement.

But the same leaked press release, said that the improvements will actually be 20. So what else will come? Well, Fuji will improve Eye Detection, additional flash settings can be located on the Q menu. Regarding the tracking, you will be able to use the electronic shutter in AF-C. There will improvements in the OVF and some bugs will be fixed, too.

It sounds overall like a huge Firmware update that will bring some big and many small improvements… well done, Fuji… you’ll make lots of X-Pro2 owners very happy soon :)

X-Pro1 Firmware

Just like the X-Pro2, also the X-Pro1 will get the Corrected AF frame function improvement. I haven’t heard of other improvements.

Fujinon Lenses Firmware

With the new Firmware, the Chromatic Aberration on the XF16-55mmF2.8 will be better controlled. Many Fujinon lenses will also get better parallax correction.

FINAL NOTE

It’s rare, but it can happen (and it already happened) that a new firmware can contain minor bugs. In the past Fujifilm usually was very fast to fix them. But I’d recommend not to update, if you need the X-Pro2 for an important job/event. Use the current firmware and wait a few days after the firmware release. Fujifilm will be monitoring the situation after the FW release very closely, also by reading the feedback from X-shooters here on Fujirumors.
