X-E1 successor to be announced already late October? (new source)

X-E1S/X-E2 on the way?

Has Fuji really stepped up the release of the X-E1 successor? Well, I’ve just received a feedback from another new source who told me that the X-E1 successor will be announced already in late October. The new (and unconfirmed) source told me it should happen around the 20th of October.

There is the photoplus Expo in New York (30th anniversary) starting on the 24th of October. This could be a good event to present the X-E1 successor.

But until now everything we know about the X-E1S / X-E2 comes from new and unconfirmed sources so take it with a grain of salt. Any help to dig up information on the X-E1 successor would be appreciated. You can contact me anonymously via rumor box or drop me an email at fujirumor@gmail.com.

have a great start in this new week

X100 firmware 2.0

Now there is no doubt anymore. Fuji originally planed to announce the X100 firmware together with the XF 23mm and release it on September 10, but they needed more time to fix the last bugs. FR-readers Binz and bulkheads noticed the press release of the firmware at Fujifilm’s Middle East page here. I suppose that Fuji will soon close this page, but don’t worry, I’ve copied the whole press release, and here it is!

Press release

FUJIFILM Corporation (President: Shigehiro Nakajima) will soon release a free, dedicated firmware update which will drastically improve the performance of the FUJIFILM X100, the first model in the premium camera X series, and enable users to more conveniently take photographs.

Since its release in March 2011, FUJIFILM have received various requests from X100 users. In order to respond to such requests, this firmware update drastically improves the performance of autofocus and manual focus and offers more convenience to users who update their FUJIFILM X100 to the latest version.

New Firmware release date:

10th September, 2013

Main contents of the firmware update

1. Improvement of AF function

(1) Improvement of AF speed

Approximately 20% faster AF speed is offered in various conditions such as bright scenes, dark scenes and changed focus distance compared to the previous firmware version.

(2) Improvement of close-up focus performance

The focus distance from the lens surface before switching to macro mode is about 30% shorter compared to previous firmware.

2. Improved manual focus operation

(1) Addition of the “Focus Peak Highlight” function for manual focusing

The “Focus Peak Highlight” function, which features on the FUJIFILM X100S and X20 cameras, has been added via this firmware update. It assists accurate and sensitive manual focusing by enhancing the outline of your subject in high contrast.

(2) Improved operability

It has been made easier to capture the peak of the focus by displaying the image with shallow depth of field, using open aperture, when adjusting the focus with the electronic viewfinder or LCD.

3. Improved Operability

(1)Faster start-up time

The camera start-up time has been shortened by approximately 0.2 seconds.*1

(2) Selecting Focus Area operability

Previously, the focus area was selected while holding the AF button on the back. With the new firmware, pressing the AF button toggles the focus area selection screen, and the area of your choice can then be selected.

The waiting is almost over: the X-A1 could come in the next days!

The Fujfilm X-A1: a long rumor story that could end in the next days!

Back on May 20 I told you here that Fuji was planing to launch 2 different mirrorless interchangeable-lens cameras, one with X-Trans sensor, and one without X-Trans sensor (it was the first rumor I got from the Japanese source who has been quickly upgraded to trusted source).

After 10 days, on May 30, another source revealed the name here: X-A1. A couple of weeks later the Japanese source confirmed the name here and told us that it would feature an APS-C sensor, come by the end of this summer and be very cheap.

On July 26 the Korean national radio research agency registered the name “X-A1” here and almost a month later (August 20) Fujirumors posted the first image of the X-A1 here. Many of you were talking of a fake image, but on September 5 everybody could see it: the blue X-A1 wasn’t a joke!

On September 5, at the Czech site fotoskoda, we had the opportunity to read the whole leaked press release of the X-A1 and XF 23mm here, which means that it was originally planed to be announced together with the XF 23mm but Fuji postponed the launch. Thanks to a Czech reader who linked me to the site, I was able to copy the release before fotoskoda removed it.

And now the official announcement seems to be very close. As you can see from the image of the leaked press-release, we will soon know more also about the second “XC” zoom lens produced by Fuji, the XC 50-230mm.

I’m very curious to see how the X-A1 will perform compared to the X-M1. It will be an interesting 16MP Bayer vs 16MP X-Trans sensor battle. But also the price should be very interesting, as it is supposed to be very cheap!

More details about the X-E1 replacement: could be called X-E1S and have X-Trans sensor II

What a great rumor start in this new week :)!

The Chinese site xjrumo (tranlsation) confirms the FR-rumor posted here about an X-E1 replacement. According to them it will be called X-E1S and feature the X-Trans sensor II of the X100S!

One more hint that we could have an X-E2/X-E1S by the end of 2013/early 2014.

cheers

X-E2 coming before X-PRO2? (new source)

I’ve received a rumor from a new source who told me that he already had the opportunity to see a working Fuji X-E2. If the new source is right, it could mean that Fuji is stepping on the gas and is planning to release the X-E2 earlier than expected.

Now, if it is true that Fuji is already testing the X-E2, then maybe it could be announced late 2013 / early 2014. But I’m working on reliable release dates (and specs) right now.

Well, it seems that we could see the X-E2 before the X-PRO2!

But please be careful with this information. Keep in mind that it does not come from trusted sources. It’s the first time I’ve received a rumor from this source and I can’t confirm it. So take it cum grano salis. I’m working with my trusted sources to check this rumor and will post an update once I have some news for you.

If there is somebody out there who could give me some more information about Fuji’s future cameras/lenses, do not hesitate to contact me via email at fujirumor@gmail.com or by using the rumor box to share your information absolutely anonymously. Feel free to contact me.
