Fujifilm X-T4 ES Extended Spectrum Infrared Camera Removed and “Discontinued”

Just yesterday we reported how B&H Photo was listing the Fujifilm X-T4 ES extended spectrum infrared camera on their website with expected shipping in 2-4 weeks (see article here).

But apparently something went wrong at B&H, as some fellow X shooters have sent me the following notice of BHphoto:

You are receiving this message because you asked to be notified when this item becomes available. We regret to inform you that this item has unfortunately been discontinued. Please check back on our website for similar or possible replacement items. We apologize for this inconvenience and appreciate your understanding.

Given that Fujifilm has already launched IR versions of their X-T cameras (the Fujifilm X-T1 IR), an infrared X-T4 version would definitely be a plausible option.

So either the Fujifilm X-T4 ES infrared camera is indeed coming soon and B&H just put the page up a bit too early, or it is not coming at all and B&H just made an error.

Rumor of Tamron February 22 Announcement fuels Hopes for Tamron 11-20mm f/2.8

Very soon, there will be a new third party autofocus lens for Fujifilm X mount.

The one I talk about, will be coming from Samyang, as we reported here.

But the absolute top wish of the Fujifilm X community (based on this survey) is the lovely Tamron 11-20mm f/2.8 Di III-A RXD mirrorless APS-C lens.

Tamron has already teased here this lens to come for Fujifilm, but so far we have no indication on when it will be launched.

Well, how2fly now shared on Twitter here that Tamron will have an announcement on February 22 (Japan time).

Of course this fuels hopes again for the Tamron 11-20mm f/2.8, but so far we have no further information on what is coming.

So let’s cross fingers we will get more than just one new third party AF lens for Fujifilm X soon ;).

BREAKING: New Samyang X Mount Autofocus Lens Coming Soon

No guys.

It’s not the Tamron 11- 20mm F / 2.8 Di III-A RXD, which was what the vast majority of you voted on when I asked which brand would launch the next autofocus X mount lens soon.

Only 6% of you got it right. Those of you, who voted for Samyang.

Samyang is indeed about to launch their second autofocus X mount lens after the (currently discounted) Samyang 12mm F2 AF.

I wonder if it is an all new lens, or an autofocus version of one of their existing Fujifilm X mount lenses, or a X mount version of one of their Sony FE mount AF lenses.

Fujifilm Patents Fujinon XF 200-600mm F5.6-8 and XF 100-600mm F5.6-6.3

If you believe in mythological entities like Unicorns and Leprechauns, then I don’t want to ruin your joy in believing also in the fabulous world of Fujifilm patents and I invite you not to read beyond the headline (which many don’t do anyway) and stop reading this article right now.

But for the brave guys, who will continue to read and are hungry for the truth, here it is:

  1. After 11+ years of blogging and hundreds of patents shared, I have yet to see one single patent that later on turned out into a real product
  2. it’s curious that we have tons of patents shared, but we never get to see patents of real upcoming products
  3. the most accurate patents I have seen are the ones that show variations of already existing product

Well, today we are in category Nr.3, with a couple of patents that very likely show variations of the existing Fujinon XF150-600mmF5.6-8 spotted by Asobinet. You can find them down below.

One of the variations is 6.3 at the long end. But of course this would have made the whole lens bigger and more expensive. And given the success the Fujinon XF150-600mmF5.6-8 experienced (3rd best selling lens of 2022 on FujiRumors), Fujifilm was probably right to contain size and cost by making it f/8 at the long end.
