DUNE Blockbuster Movie Images taken with Fujifilm X Series APS-C Gear

Share

FR-reader Malcom was going through the book Dune Part 1 – The Photography, and he told me he noticed that lots of images in that book were taken by Chiabella James using Fujifilm X Series cameras.

Chiabella James was also part of the Depth of Field podcast at BHphoto, and in the video (video below starts at 9:54) she talks about the gear she uses.

She was always a Canon shooter (and still uses it), but she added the Fujifilm X system to her arsenal.

She says:

I have started shooting with the Fuji’s, and they have served me very well. In fact, quite a lot of what you see on DUNE was shot on the Fuji’s.

I shoot Fujifilm X system. The GFX system is too large for on set photography. It’s great for specials and when you have a selection of images, not so broad. But when you are shooting all day every day on a film set, those files are too big and unnecessarily big, you don’t need it for that, so it’s not worth the time that they take [to load and process]

Also interesting, the main actress in the DUNE movie, Rebecca Ferguson, has shared images of her using the Fujifilm X-T camera while taking pictures on the set (IG post embedded below).
