X Summit Summed Up
Lenses
- initial demand for XF16-80 is very big, and factory is busy to try to cover inital demand
- first mock-up, XF33mm f/1.0 customer said it is too big and heavy, but size was inevitable for corner to corner sharpness. You need lots of front glass to eliminate aberrations
- the latest XF33mm f/1.0 has become even bigger. With 15 elements it will weight over 1.3 kg. Needs tripod mount.
- to make it smaller, Fujifilm needed either to make it slower, or to change focal length
- Fujifilm decided to change from 33mm f/1.0 to 50mm f/1.0 to make the lens smaller (35% smaller and weight under 900 gram)
- XF 50mm f/1.0 will have richer and smoother bokeh
