My Biggest Fujifilm Disappointment of 2023

In the video above (click and it starts automatically at the right point) I address my biggest disappointment of 2023 (and my biggest hope for 2024)

My Biggest Fujifilm Disappointement of 2023

It’s Christmas time.

We get all more kind, more gentle, we show how much we love each other and…

… forget about it…

Not in the mood for that today.

Today I want to moan, to complain and to unleash my biggest Fujifilm frustration 2023 towards the Fujifilm headquarter of Japan.

Here it is.

Dear Fujifilm,

you did launch some nice sweet gear in 2023. I was able to test some of it, and I loved it.

Well done.

But you know what surprised me?

When I handled the Fujifilm GFX100II, which is a masterpiece of a camera, I noticed some nice stuff.

The menu item showed something called “Reala Ace” film simulation. It looks so awesome. It could easily become one of my favorite film simulations. And the more I digged in the menu, the more I found out interesting stuff, such as touch to track autofocus in video, waveforms, vectorscopes, anamorphic mode. And then the X-S20, which is so lovely, and comes with fully automatic subject detection mode.

So much great stuff!

But quick question: what are you waiting for to bring all that new goodness also to other X series cameras via firmware update, such as for example on my Fujifilm X-T5?

What’s the problem with it?

Did you forget about Kaizen?

So, dear Fujifilm, that’s the biggest beef I had with you in 2023: the lack of firmware updates!

But we can get along well again. All you have to do is to give us Reala & Co on other 5th generation cameras. That’s it.

Do this, and love letters will flood into your mailbox.

Have a nice Christmas time,
Patrick
