BHphoto, AmazonUS and Adorama Say Fuji X-T2 Will Start Shipping September 8

BH

First this rumor, and then a Fujifilm Manager, said that the shipping of the X-T2 will start shipping in late August.

And the X-T2 might indeed start shipping in late August… but probably not everywhere. And at least for USA, it seems that the X-T2 is more likely to ship in September.

In fact, BHphoto, Adorama and AmazonUS today simultaneously updated their X-T2 product page, saying that the X-T2 “will begin shipping Thu, Sep 8 (Subject to availability)“. – thanks to the FR-readers for the links

However, FR-reader Marcus said yesterday in the comments here:

Two (2) Reasons Why the AF-Tracking of the X-T2 (and X-Pro2 Ver.2.00) is Much Better Than on the X-T1!

From TheCameraStore to DigitalRev… most X-T2 reviewers so far seems to be impressed by the new Fuji AF-speed, especially in continous shooting mode. So the question is: how was it possible to achieve such a significant improvement? There are two main reasons, as Fujifilm explains here:

Reason 1 for better AF-Tracking

The new technology has been developed to allow increased number of AF search between the frames. There used to be only one AF search between the frames, but this is now increased up to 10. This will allow better tracking on the moving subject between the frames. […] longer live-view means that AF search can be conducted for longer period of time.”

Reason 2 for better AF-Tracking

The AF search can now be processed in parallel. The breakdown of AF search is “Exposure”, “Read”, and then “Process”. The new algorithm allows so that each step can be conducted simultaneously. It means that while the first AF search is being “processed”, the second AF search starts to “read”, and the third AF search starts the “exposure”. By doing so, multiple AF search is now possible in the short interval.

NOTE: The X-Pro2 will get the new AF-algorithm via Firmware Update in October 2016. However, the AF-C Custom Settings, introduced with the X-T2, will not be part of the Firmware udpate. If you don’t know what the X-T2 AF-C Custom Settings are, check out this Review.

BREAKING :: FUJIFILM Price Increase on X-Series Gear in September!

Fujifilm Price increase is coming

The company will increase the prices on plenty of X-gear starting from the 1st September 2016 in Europe.

There will not be a price increase on the Fujifilm X-T2, because Fuji raised the original price just shorty before it’s announcement.

Brexit, Currency fluctiations and also the Kumamoto earthquake could be some of the reasons for this price increase. Thanks a lot to the FR-reader, who passed me the link to the top-foto page.

Fujifilm X100T Successor to be Released in 2017 (with POLL)

[wysija_form id=”1″]

Fujifilm X100T Successor

It’s a question that pops up very often these days in the comments: when will the Fujifilm X100T Successor come?

Believe me, it’s a very tricky question, because Fujifilm changes plans so often… especially after the Kumamoto earthquake (NOTE: the Sony Factory in Kumamoto produces Fuji X-Trans sensors & sensors also for many other companies).

So, whatever I say, at this stage, take it with a grain of salt. But right now it seems that the Fujifilm X100T successor will be release in 2017 only.

– – – End of the Rumor – – –

Fujifilm, so my very personal guess, has to deal with a shortage of X-Trans III sensors coming from Sony. So they decided to first focus on the Fujifilm X-T2 and use all the sensors available for the X-T2. Once everything goes back to normal and there will be enough X-TransIII sensors again, then Fujifilm can also release the X100T successor. And this will, accroding to the rumor, very likely happen only in 2017.

And upon request from readers, here is a Poll regarding the X100T successor: should it be able to shoot 4K, is Full HD enough, or should it have no Video at all?

Regarding the Video Function, the X100T Successor should have...

TIME :: Andrew Quilty Documents Life in Afghanistan with Fujifilm X-Pro2 + Is the X-Pro2 the Perfect Reportage Camera?

Fuji X-Pro2 Photojournalism

Today’s story brings us deep in the heart of Afghanistan, where since three years now Andrew Quilty is documenting the ongoing war and life, using mostly the Nikon D810.

But since a few months he added the Fujifilm X-Pro2 + XF23mm lens to his equipment. And looking at the EXIF data of his images, it seems that more and more of his work is now done with the X-Pro2. You can see his images at the TIME magazine here.

Many of you won’t be surprised by the fact that Andrew chose the X-Pro2 to document life & war in Afghanistan. As these Poll results clearly show, the majority of X-shooters believe that the Fujifilm X-Pro2 fits really well with certain styles like Street, Reportage, Documentary photography.

But what is it that makes the Fujifilm X-Pro2 so popular for these Photography Genres?

Maybe it’s the sleek and simple rangefinder style. Maybe it’s the corner placement of the viewfinder, which allows you to have the left eye free to see the whole scene. Or maybe it’s the OVF, which has the huge advantage to actually show you what’s happening outside your frame (and to save battery life). And maybe (just maybe) it could be, for some, even the lack of a tilt screen: one less thing to worry that could eventually break, especially when shooting in flustered and chaotic situations like conflict zones.

Maybe all these little things (and more) together make the X-Pro2 the ideal tool for the street and reportage.

Whatever it is… at the end of the story we have an X-shooter out there, who gets his hard job done with the X-Pro2… a work that is worth to be checked out at the TIME here.

If you ever read this Andrew Quilty, keep it up! And FujiRumors will always be happy to eventually share, if you want, your experience with the X-Pro2 in Afghanistan.

And thanks a lot to the FR-reader for the link. :)

Fuji X-Pro2 or X-T2? Which Camera is Better for Street, Wedding, Landscape (+ more) photography? – Multiple POLLS

Medium Format Fujifilm :: Rangefinder or DSLR style? And the Answer is… (New Source)

Fujifilm Medium Format

Medium Format Fuji :: The Design

Did I ever tell you that every rumor, especially the ones that come from New or Anonymous sources, has to be taken with a grain of salt? And you should have a bit of salt ready this time, because this rumor comes from a brand new source I had the pleasure to exchange some emails (thanks :-) ).

The New Source possibly shared the answer to one of our Top 7 Medium Format Fujifilm Questions: Will the Medium Format Fuji have a Rangefinder or DSLR design?

According to the New Source, the Medium Format Fujifilm Camera will have a DSLR shape.

End of the Rumor

If true, then we can expect a camera with centered Viewfinder, just like the Digital Mirrorless Medium Format Hasselblad X1D… and the Fujfilm X-T2 of course.

And since the DSLR styled X-T1 is by far Fuji’s most successful camera (and also the X-T10 sold better than the X-E2), I guess Fujifilm simply decided to go for the form-factor that was the best selling so far.

So high time to launch the rumored Fujifilm Medium Format Camera Specs list:

Fuji X-T2 Vs. Sony A6300: “Fantastic Autofocus. Can compete with DSLRs. In some cases tracks better than A6300” – TheCameraStoreTV

Episode recorded on X-T2… the A6300 was just overheating too much

TheCameraStoreTV tested a pre-production X-T2… so take it with a grain of salt for now. But it really seems that Fuji vastly improved Autofocus.

Chris tested the Fujifilm X-T2 against the Sony A6300, and says that the performance is “very comparable to the Sony A6300, in some cases it actually tracks better.” Also because, unlike the Sony A6300, the Fuji gives you more customizability on controlling how the camera tracks subjects. And you can see in the video how well it really works.

Chris says that there are now 2 mirrorless camera contenders, who can handle anything a DSLR can handle for Sports: the Fuji X-T2 and the Sony A6300.

Video Guy Jordan tested the 4K features and says there is no overheating when shooting 4K (even longer videos) and no Moiré.
