X-T1 Graphite Silver + 56mm @ f1.2, 1/10,500, ISO 200, Classic Chrome

[UDPATE: more samples taken with the electoronic shutter also here at neillsoden]

I’ve read and heard several times, that no picture on the web does justice to the beauty of the graphite Fujifilm X-T1. And Michael R. Cruz confirms it in his review here:

“I have to admit, if I haven’t own the black X-T1, I would definitely go with this one. I might even sell my black X-T1 and get this one, that’s how much I like the Graphite Silver, but that’s purely subjective. This color is so much sleeker and it gives the X-T1 a more retro look. I felt like the black one is not “retro” enough, compared to X-Pro1 or X100s, but the “graphite silver” color gives the X-T1 that retro kick it lacks. To me, it is gorgeous! I was never a fan of how the X-T1 look/form, I much prefer the rangefinder style, but I think, the Graphite Edition changed that.”

He tested a pre-production graphite X-T1, and posted also some samples taken with the new electronic shutter (which, I remind you, also black Fujifilm X-T1 owners will get in December via firmware update). I’ve posted a sample above, for more, check out michaelrcruz’s review here.

FIRST OFF: Thanks a lot, Etienne (blog) for the samples and your impressions.

Check out his blog about 1 year travel he did with his Fujis here at pack2life!

We are still waiting for Fujifilm to upload their official samples… so in the meantime you can find some on Fujirumors. This time it’s FR-reader Etienne, who shared with us some of his samples taken with the upcoming XF 50-140mm f/2.8 OIS WR and XF 56mm f/1.2 APD

I’ll just share one low resolution image (with crop) taken with the XF 50-140mm f/2.8 OIS WR at 140 f/2.8 (above) and one shot with the XF 56mm f/1.2 APD (at the bottom). For all the full resolution samples, download them at dropbox here. The samples are really very sharp!

He also send us 3 things he has noticed during this event:

  • the 90mm is really huge compared to the 56mm (ok the 140-400mm is even bigger but not too long for this range)
  • the tripod collar of the preproduction 50-140mm can’t be entirely removed of the lens. The collar will stay but you can “only” remove the L shape part that is attached to the tripod (with 2 screws). It is actually different from the Canon 70-200mm f/4 I had in the past (no screws like this). I don’t know if it is going to be the same thing on the final model. I don’t really like it this way.
  • the electronic shutter once activated made the X.T1 a perfect silence camera (I tried that on the graphite X-T1).

Also the threeguyswithcameras was at the event, and they posted their samples and impressions here.

(& support FR. No extra cost for you, but a small comission is valued back to FR. Thanks to those who decide to support FR this way and allow me to keep this blog running)

Sony RX100III vs Fujifilm X30 :: which one is the better camera according to Kai (digitalrev)?

Share

Kai from digitalrev compared the the Fujifilm X30 with the Sony RX100III (see youtube). His conclusions are that “there is nothing wrong with the Fuji… it’s a decent (but fat) compact camera, it’s just that the Sony seems to be the better camera overall“.

Here just a few PRO’s he listed about each camera:

Fujifilm X30 PROS: cool looking, bigger & better EVF, feels better in the hand, manual zoom.
Sony RX100III PROS: Pocketable size, flip screen, slightly sharper, more detailed images, better dynamic range, better auto-white balance in low light, better ISO performance

Just let me add one more PRO to the Fujifilm X30… it costs $200 less than the Sony. The Fujifilm X30 is sold for $599, while the Sony RX100III costs $799.

Fujifilm X-PRO2 to be announced first half/early 2015? HSS flash coming too (new source)

Share

 photo p2_zps35b22e00.jpg

The Fujifilm X-PRO2 rumor is by far the trickiest rumor I’ve ever worked on (mainly because Fuji often changes plans about it. Release & Specs may have changed 3 or more times until now). Hence, did you take the holy grain of salt? Ok, then let’s sit down talk about the Fujifilm X-PRO2 now.

First off, the rumor comes from a new source. It’s the same source, who shared the Full Size JPEG’s taken with the XF 50-140mm f/2.8 OIS WR (and I posted yesterday here). I have the expressed permission of the source to share this detail with all of you.

So, as proven by the pics, the source attended a Fuji event, where it had the opportunity to take some shots with the upcoming XF 50-140mm f/2.8 OIS WR and XF 56mm f/1.2 APD… and also to talk to a Fuji Rep. At the event, the Rep told to the source, that the Fujifilm X-PRO2 will be announced “in early or first half next year.” The rep also said that Fuji is working on a HSS flash (which confirms rumors shared previously here).

Sure, with all respect to the Fuji Reps, we still have to be careful with this information. Also, consider that this is a new source. So, again, take it cum grano salis. What we know for sure is that at photokina, Fuji Guy Greg said that the Fujifilm X-PRO2 won’t be Full Frame, but “worth the wait”.

Message to sources: you can contact Fujirumors 100% anonymously via rumor box (maybe using a nick name so that I can eventually recognize you in future) or via email at fujirumor [at] gmail.com. Feel free to make my X-PRO2 rumor sleuthing a bit easier ;)
