The Jury is in: National Geografic chose the Top 10 Compact Cameras for Travelers… and their lists starts with the Fujifilm X-T1 and Fujifilm X-E2:
Fujifilm X-T1: “This camera is quick—its autofocus is quick, its image review is quick, and it shoots tons of pictures in a row without hanging up. Now I can leave the bigger DSLR cameras at home without a second thought.”
Fujifilm X-E2: “I love the X-E1 [precursor to the X-E2]. I love how portable it is, and the lens quality is outstanding. But the picture is the big thing—the images are really strong. I’m amazed at how little I have to correct them on the computer. Usually I shoot in RAW, but these Fujifilm cameras produce amazing JPEGs straight out of the camera.”
Also included in the list: [shoplink 24784]Panasonic GH4[/shoplink] / [shoplink 16816 ebay]Panasonic GX7[/shoplink] / [shoplink 22210]Sony A6000[/shoplink] / [shoplink 19559]Sony A7[/shoplink] / Olympus TG-3 / [shoplink 17516]Olympus OM-D E-M1[/shoplink] / [shoplink 13349]Ricoh GR[/shoplink] / Sony DSC-RX10 /
X-T1 Deal
I remind you that DigitalRev has a very good price on the X-T1. The kit comes for $ 1,529 (save $168) and the body for $1.179 (save $109). Free shipping & one year warranty included + no duty and tax for the shipment to US (DigitalRev covers the costs). So the price listed on their store will be the final price you’ll pay.
Kaizen costs growing: FW-updates (bringing new functions) will focus on newer cameras. No electronic shutter for X-E2?
THE RUMOR (new source)
The Kaizen philosophy is something that distinguishes Fujifilm from other companies. And I feel pretty save to say, that it will remain so in future. In fact, the next big FW-updates for the X-E2 and especially the X-T1 are just around the corner.
However, a new source just told me that, since there are now many more X-series cameras on the market than in the past, Fuji can’t afford the growing costs of firmware updates (that will bring new functions) for all these X-cameras anymore.
The costs to continuously implement new features to all X-series cameras would be simply exorbitant.
The source also told us that, according to the latest plans, the Fujifilm X-E2 won’t get the electronic shutter. But it confirms that it will get the remote control & a few minor things. Fuji is also aware of the complaints about too aggressive NR at high ISO in JPEG’s for the X-T1 and X-E2 (NOTE: the fact that they are aware of it, doesn’t necessarily mean that they will improve that via firmware).
THE POLL
With the X100T/X30, Fuji introduced so many firmware based improvements, that I’d really like to have them also on my X-E2. I’m sure many of you would like some of those features too: Electronic Shutter, Full Manual Video Control, spot metering frame coupling, Classic Chrome film simulation, fully configurable Quick menu, improved JPEG engine, wireless remote control (that should come for the X-E2) and Instax printing, interval shooting for time-lapse photography and more…
Sure, we can’t pretend Fujifilm to update all their X-cameras with these (and more) features. But what if we’d pay for them? So here is today’s poll: would you pay for a firmware update that gives you new, long-awaited features on your “older” X-series camera?
Feel free to tell us your most desired firmware features for you X-series camera in the comments and vote if/how much you’d be ready to pay for it.

It’s been a while since I last posted an X-shooter zone. In fact, last month was a pretty busy one, with all the rumors/news related to Fuji latest products (X30, X100T, Graphite X-T1, XF 50-140 and the XF56mmAPD) + the non stop photokina coverage.
Well, now it’s time to focus again on the beauty of the images. So I jumped over to the FR-facebook photostream and looked at all the images shared there by X-shooter all over the world… and I really loved what I saw. Congratulations to the winners of this edition for their inspiring shots!
I’d also like to say a big THANK YOU to all those X-shooters, who decided to share their images at the FR-facebook photostream and those who looked at them and voted their favorite ones… feel free to keep it up.
HOT TO SHARE & VOTE IMAGES: go to the Fujirumors timeline, click “Photo/Video” and post your image and your comment. They will then be visible at the FR-facebook photostream. The most liked ones will be featured in the next X-shooter Facebook zone.
Have a great Sunday

Scott Cramer: Keep up the great work Patrick! Love your site and you were spot on for the most recent Fuji announcements. I love that your site is not only a great rumor site, but also a great place to learn techniques, share ideas, and showcase beautiful photography. Thought I’d share a recent favorite image from a couple evenings ago from Sweetwater Lake in Sweetwater, Colorado. Fuji X-T1 with 18-55mm lens ISO 400 f/11 at 1/80. No tripod! OIS is that good that unless I’m photographing moving water, I rarely need it – what freedom! Keep up the great work, I will continue to check your site daily! Steve McClanahan: I’m loving my new XT-1 and with my new XF 10-24, I was able to capture the attached rainbow in my home town of Flagstaff Arizona. It had been raining all day so my initial focus was on the sunset but 180 degrees from the sunset was this amazing full rainbow
