My name is Andreas and I am a 3d artist from Sweden. I work in the video game industry and like to design and visualize things in my spare time. I love photography and cameras so this made me think of what the perfect compact travel/street camera would be like.

The one camera and one lens concept is a popular one these days. For me it started with the X100 and later the X100T. I really like the form factor and rangefinder styled body but always found some things annoying to work with so I decided to make my own X100F camera.

Here are the main changes I made to the design of the X100F:

Lens
The X100 cameras are not tiny and pockatable and for me I always kept them in my bag anyways. Therefore I think the lens can easily be a bit larger without sacrificing portability. This makes it possible to make a faster and better lens compared to the one in the x100t. It also makes it a better camera ergonomically. I moved the aperture ring up front and added a focus tab on the focusing ring. The focusing has hard stops to make manual focusing a breeze. These changes are inspired by the Leica Q.

Viewfinder
This will probably be the most controversial change I have made to the camera. I removed the OVF. Dear lord, how dare you?! Well I like the less is more approach and I never used the ovf anyway. I find it misses focus too often and it’s basically useless for manual focusing. There I removed it to make the front of the camera cleaner and reduce the parts and cost of the camera overall. I imagine the viewfinder being larger, more high res and faster updating then before.

Grip
I added a built in thumb grip so that we can free up the hot shoe from third party thumb grips. I also added a grip up front inspired by the xt1. This will help ergonomics alot without adding bulk to the camera.

ISO dial
Making the thumb grip built in adds some space up top for another dial. This iso dial is a pop up one so that it doesn’t get in the way of the shutter release while shooting. I took this idea from the Hasselblad X1D.

Compensation dial
I moved the compensation dial to fit it closer to the thumb. It is cleverly positioned underneath the shutter speed dial to save space.

Drive mode
I incorporated the drive mode in the on off switch like on Leica cameras. Saves spaces and is intuitive to use. I placed the “S” mode at the end of the dial for easier turn on since that is the mode that I use most often.

AF joystick
This needs to find its way to all cameras. It makes shooting so much faster.

Tilting screen
I have included a tilting touch screen to the camera and made it flush with the body.

Button layout
All buttons now reside to the right of the screen to make it easier to handle.

That’s it! Remember that this is only how I envision the perfect x100 camera and it will certainly not resonate well with all people. Hope you enjoy the pictures!

The End is Near: Fujifilm X100T Marked as “Discontinued” at DigitalRev :: Fujifilm X100F is on the Way!

fujifilm-x100t-discontinued

As you know, trusted sources told us that the successor of the Fujifilm X100T, the X100F, will be launched in 2017 (orgininally planed for Photokina, but the sensor shortage due to the Kumamoto earthquake forced Fujifilm to change plans).

For those, who are still sceptical, here is another hint: DigitalRev marked the Fujifilm X100T as discontinued. The FR-reader, who passed me the link (thanks) said that a few days ago it wasn’t marked as discontinued.

BREAKING :: The Fujifilm X100T Successor Will Be Called Fujifilm X100F

Fujifilm X100F

Fujifilm X100F

I know many of you guys are eagerly awaiting rumors about the X100T successor… so here is what I have for you today. I’ve been informed by a New Source (thanks) that the successor of the Fujifilm X100T will be called Fujifilm X100F.

As I told you in this rumor, the expected release for the X100F is 2017. The successor of the X100T was originally planed for Photokina 2016, but after the Kumamoto earthquake in Japan (which affected heavily the Sensor factory), Fujifilm had to deal with a shortage of X-TransIII sensor. So they decided to first focus on the Fujifilm X-T2 and use all the sensors available for the X-T2. Once everything goes back to normal and there will be enough X-TransIII sensors again, then Fujifilm can also release the X100F (in 2017)

cheers

New Fujifilm Tether App Launched and X RAW Studio Updated

It’s Update Day

Fujifilm just released major firmware updates for several cameras and also for a lens.

But that’s not all.

There are updates also for Fujifilm X RAW Studio and also a brand new software has been launched, the Fujifilm Tether App.

So let’s look at what happened.

Fujifilm X RAW Studio

Fujifilm has released an update for the Fujifilm X RAW Studio software.

Fujifilm X RAW Studio Ver.1.24.0 – download here
The software update Ver.1.24.0 incorporates the following issues:

  1. “REALA ACE” RAW development is now supported.
  2. A software bug is fixed that the “COLOR TEMPERATURE” of “WHITE BALANCE” set in “Profile” is not reflected to the preview and recorded image correctly with macOS 14.

Fujifilm Tether App

We told you something new would happen also on the software front, and here it is: the brand new “Fujifilm Tether App”.

”FUJIFILM TETHER APP” provides functions to utilize digital cameras (GFX/X series) by connecting them to a computer. Even if your camera does not support the tethered shooting function, you can use the function to save/load camera settings.

You can read all the details below and download it here.

Fujifilm X100VI Zagato Limited Edition – BODY SKIN (UPDATED)

With the launch of the Fujifilm X100VI, Fujifilm also announced a limited edition Fujifilm X100VI that will come in a limited number of 1934 samples worldwide.

But now a Zagato edition of the Fujifilm X100VI has appeared online on the Chinese Weibo social media (see above).

I could not verify (until now) if this is a legit version or just a photoshopped Zagato X100VI or some special X100VI skin (like the ones offerd for X100VI by Alphagvrd).

If I should place a bet, I’d say this is a body skin in Alphagvrd style.

But if this really exists, then Fujifilm would become the 2nd brand who has ever offered a Zagato version of its cameras (if I am not wrong).

In fact, there is a limited Zagato edition offered with the Leica M10, limited to 250-piece and you can check it out here.

UPDATE: It’s a skin made by a Thai company here.

RUMOR: This is the Fujifilm X100VI Battery

→No Time to Read or Watch: it’s this battery here

One of the most urgent questions regarding the Fujifilm X100VI is:

will it use the NP-W126S battery or the bigger NP-W235 battery?

Well, today we have the answer.

Fujifilm X100VI Coming also in Limited Edition

this is just a rendering based on the limited Disney Edition X100V
this is just a rendering based on the limited Disney Edition X100V

On February 20th, apparently the question will be not only: Fujifilm X100VI silver or Fujifilm X100VI black?

Because according to our sources (thanks!), Fujifilm will launch also a limited edition Fujifilm X100VI.

This is not the first time we got limited edition X100 cameras:

Now, all those limited editions X100 cameras were always launched a while after the release of the standard versions.

However, the fact that our sources have informed us about the limited edition X100VI coming too, might indicate that, for the first time ever, the limited edition X100 could come along with the standard version.

In my opinion, the best limited X100 edition that Fujifilm has launched, was the one of the original X100, which was produced in a limited number of 10,000 samples and shipped with a couple of all-black accessories (you can read what was included here).

Now, I don’t know what Fujifilm is preparing for us this time.

I just hope it’s not a Taylor Swift limited edition Fujifilm camera ;).

Why “Fujifilm X100VI” is Best Name for the New X100 Camera

Fujifilm X100VI – The Best Choice

So we told you that the successor of the Fujifilm X100V will be called Fujifilm X100VI.

Now, according to our survey, 80% of you thought that other names would have been more appropriate.

And you know what?

I agree that Fujifilm could have been more creative with the name. And certainly they had lots of creative options on the table.

My new favourite (as suggest by a FR-reader): X100-00S, where “00S” stands for “out-of-stock” :).

But why did they go with “Fujifilm X100VI” then?

Well, because at the end of the day, from a business (and not creative) point of view, it’s by far the best choice.

Let me tell you why.

RUMOR: Big Start for Fujifilm in 2024 with Multiple (and Record?) Camera Announcements

Starting Big in 2024

So, we told you that there won’t be any new Fujifilm gear announcement in 2023.

But don’t worry, Fujifilm is working full power right now.

In fact, we have been told that in the “first months of 2024″ Fujifilm will announce more cameras than in the entire year 2023.

Considering that we got a total of 2 cameras in 2023, this means we can expect three or more cameras coming in the first months of 2024.

I have checked back, and as far as I can see, in 13 years of X/GFX series there has been only one year in which Fujifilm launched more than two cameras in the first months of the year (without counting the entry level cameras that were made by Xacti Corporation and not by Fujifilm).

It was back in 2017 when Fujifilm released the Fujifilm GFX 50S, Fujifilm X100F and Fujifilm X-T20.

But even if we would count the Xacti cameras (X-T100, X-T200, X-A5, X-A20 etc), we would get a total of 3 years out of 13 in which Fujifilm kicked off the year with more than two cameras, and also in that case we reach 3 cameras max (as in 2017).

So, by launching three or more Fujifilm cameras (made by Fujfiilm) in the first months of 2024, Fujifilm is out for a record release rate, matching or exceeding the announcements we had only once in 13 years of Fujifilm X/GFX history.

Not bad ;).

One Camera is Sure

Now, thanks to our sources we know already what one of these cameras will be: the replacement of this camera here.

What will the other cameras be?

Well, you know what you have to do: just stay tuned on FujiRumors, and you will know it.

And what about lenses?

Well, we know that the next XF lens to come will be the replacement of this lens here.

But even though I have no further solid lens rumors right now, I do hope to be able to share more soon.
