The waiting is almost over: the X-A1 could come in the next days!

The Fujfilm X-A1: a long rumor story that could end in the next days!

Back on May 20 I told you here that Fuji was planing to launch 2 different mirrorless interchangeable-lens cameras, one with X-Trans sensor, and one without X-Trans sensor (it was the first rumor I got from the Japanese source who has been quickly upgraded to trusted source).

After 10 days, on May 30, another source revealed the name here: X-A1. A couple of weeks later the Japanese source confirmed the name here and told us that it would feature an APS-C sensor, come by the end of this summer and be very cheap.

On July 26 the Korean national radio research agency registered the name “X-A1” here and almost a month later (August 20) Fujirumors posted the first image of the X-A1 here. Many of you were talking of a fake image, but on September 5 everybody could see it: the blue X-A1 wasn’t a joke!

On September 5, at the Czech site fotoskoda, we had the opportunity to read the whole leaked press release of the X-A1 and XF 23mm here, which means that it was originally planed to be announced together with the XF 23mm but Fuji postponed the launch. Thanks to a Czech reader who linked me to the site, I was able to copy the release before fotoskoda removed it.

And now the official announcement seems to be very close. As you can see from the image of the leaked press-release, we will soon know more also about the second “XC” zoom lens produced by Fuji, the XC 50-230mm.

I’m very curious to see how the X-A1 will perform compared to the X-M1. It will be an interesting 16MP Bayer vs 16MP X-Trans sensor battle. But also the price should be very interesting, as it is supposed to be very cheap!

What a great rumor start in this new week :)!

The Chinese site xjrumo (tranlsation) confirms the FR-rumor posted here about an X-E1 replacement. According to them it will be called X-E1S and feature the X-Trans sensor II of the X100S!

One more hint that we could have an X-E2/X-E1S by the end of 2013/early 2014.

X-E2 coming before X-PRO2? (new source)

I’ve received a rumor from a new source who told me that he already had the opportunity to see a working Fuji X-E2. If the new source is right, it could mean that Fuji is stepping on the gas and is planning to release the X-E2 earlier than expected.

Now, if it is true that Fuji is already testing the X-E2, then maybe it could be announced late 2013 / early 2014. But I’m working on reliable release dates (and specs) right now.

Well, it seems that we could see the X-E2 before the X-PRO2!

But please be careful with this information. Keep in mind that it does not come from trusted sources. It’s the first time I’ve received a rumor from this source and I can’t confirm it. So take it cum grano salis. I’m working with my trusted sources to check this rumor and will post an update once I have some news for you.

Fuji XF 55-200mm: [shopcountry 12892]

Fujinon 55-200mm – A Love Story: Great site! My story from today – I didn’t believe in love at first sight, until I took out my X-E1 for my first shoot with the XF 55-200. I happened to have it with me when a storm suddenly broke and the sun sat perfectly between the cloud line and the horizon. This is a JPEG straight out of the camera w/ the Velvia film simulation – I absolutely love the colors that this lens can produce, and experienced very little lens flair unless pointed directly into the sun. I already loved the X system I’ve been building, but I might not take this lens off for quite some time.

Fuji X-PRO1: [shopcountry 12882]

The above is a daily blog written by a 43 year professional photographer – the likes of 1) Washington Redskins Football Team Photographer, 2) photographed 6 standing Presidents of the USA, – well you get the picture. He has been, for the last 10+ years, a Nikon representative but has retired in the last 2 months. I think you will find his last two days of blogs very interesting. In Thursday blog (click here) he tells of his life commitment to photography and primarily Nikon equipment – and then in the last 6 months his switch to Fuji equipment. He got so many comments on Thursday blog that he wrote Friday’s blog (click here) about Fuji including many pictures. I thought you needed to know this – and would enjoy reading it – and maybe your readers would too. I am a friend of Bill’s and consequently switched to Fuji (X-E1) myself after much discussion with him personally. Your blog (Fujirumor) is the first thing I read in the morning after my daily devotional. Check it 2-3 times a day thereafter. You REALLY do a good job!

My doctor said, “Would you like some more shoulder surgery?” I responded, “would you like me to sock you in the jaw??!!” ( My doctor is also a good friend and he’s use to my, sometimes, caustic manner!) It was Nick’s fault […], he introduced me to her! She was much smaller and lighter, but really well built, and oh how sharp her lenses were. Nick may have introduced me to her but I was the one who decided to take her for a spin, don’t blame Nick! After a romantic afternoon of shooting the Fuji X-Pro 1, with my hands all over her, I went back and downloaded the files. There it was, starring me in the face, and as Judy Garland sang in the nineteen fifties, “You Made Me Love You!”

Patrick – I have done a review of the Metabones [shoplink 16275 ebay]Speed Booster[/shoplink] adapter that mounts Nikon G lenses onto Fuji X cameras. I have been excited by the potential of this device ever since it came out and wanted to give it a try. I performed a large number of practical tests some of Nikon’s best lenses mounted on a Fuji X-Pro1 with the Speed Booster. My results include many downloadable sample images that I think your readers will find interesting.

From the conclusions: “As already mentioned, optical quality will be degraded somewhat simply by inserting another optical element in the image path. Nonetheless, the center sharpness with almost all lenses I tested remained very high. It is only in the corners that things began to fall apart, as the image softened, vignetting increased, and color fringing crept in — all of which was more apparent with zoom lenses than with primes, and most of which was easily corrected in post-processing.
