Fuji X PRO 1 official price and release date in Japan!

Share

DC.watch (Click here) announced the official price and release info of the X PRO 1 camera and X-mount lenses:
1) The X PRo 1 camera will be released on February 18 and cost 150.000 Yen. At current conversion rate this corresponds to 1475 Euro or 1930 Dollars.
2) The 18mm f/2.0 lens and the 35mm f/1.4 will cost 55.oo0 Yen each (540 Euro or 708 Dollars).
3) The 60mm f/2.4 macro will cost 60.000 Yen (590 Euro or 773 Dollars).

My guess s that the price in Dollar will be much lower than what suggested by the simple conversion rate. The price in Euro could be more or less right.

New Fuji X PRO 1 test!

Share

It looks like Romania photographers are having a special connection to Fuji. this is already the second exclusive test posted by a Romanian photographer!

After vladdodan.ro website (Click here) now you can see a new test at F64 (Click here). The reviewer compared the ISO results with the Fuji X100 and Nikon D3. His conclusions in short:

1) At high ISO the X PRO 1 beats both the e X100 and D3 cameras.
2) Shutter noise is similar to that of the Zeiss Ikon.
3) The 18mm lens suffers from some purple fringing (but Fuji could add an automatic lens correction once finalized the firmware).
4) manual focusing has been improved over the X100 but the reviewer is still not completely satisfied with the performance. Also autofocus isn’t really fast.
5) What matters: Image quality is spectacular.

Thanks Romania! Without you we would havn’t seen any ISO test at all! :

PDNonline confirms the Fuji lens roadmap (and adds small bits of info)

Share

PDNonline (Click here) posted the Fuji lens roadmap and added some info about the aperture of most of these lenses:

2012
•    14mm (21mm equivalent) super wide
•    18-72mm f/4 (27-108mm equivalent) image stabilized zoom
2013
•    23mm f/2 (34mm equivalent) wide
•    28mm f/2.8 pancake design (42mm equivalent) normal
•    12-24mm f/4 (18-36mm equivalent) image stabilized zoom
•    70-200mm f/4 (105-300mm equivalent) image stabilized zoom

As you see the only lens that lacks an aperture info is the 14mm lens. Fuji marketing said it shoudl be somewhere between f/1.4 and f/2.0. I guess it will be the second :)

Focus Numerique writes that thei are truly impressed by that result!

Plenty of new X PRO 1 news and tests (wins four awards at CES)

Share

Good Morning! Here are the very last news about the X PRO 1:

There is a first look article at Cameralabs (Click here): “The Fujifilm X-Pro1 takes mirror-less ILCs to a higher ground than any company other than Leica has done to date. It unashamedly targets enthusiasts with an innovative sensor and viewfinder packed into a retro-styled body with nostalgic analogue controls and a choice of three high quality prime lenses at launch.”

Brian Lam from TheAtlantic (Click here) wrote about the X PRO 1: “This is the only gadget at the show that melts my heart every time I think about it. I want this more than anything else I’ve seen at the show, and I think I might get one over the also amazing Sony NEX-7 Camera, which is technically astounding but has a mediocre lens selection that is not worthy of a $1300 camera.

The X PRO 1 already won four prices! The CNET “Best of CES 2012” Best Camera; Popular Science “CES 2012 Product of the Future”; Popular Mechanics “CES 2012 Editor’s Choice Award”; Tom’s Guide “Best of CES 2012” (Source: Imaging Resource).

P.S:: The CEO from Fuji has been interviewed by Sankei (Click here).
