Proof of XF 33mmF1.0? :: Fuji X-Pro2 framelines preview shows “33”

framelines

There is one rumored lens, that makes many X-shooter dream: the super-fast XF33mmF1.0.

The first rumor about this lens has been shared back in April 2015 here. Since then I’ve worked with my sources, trying to confirm it… and chances are actually very high to see it become real one day. A trusted source told us in October 2015 here, that the decision at Fuji’s Headquarter is fallen: Fujifilm will make it (if Fuji doesn’t change plans again).

But, of course, a lot of time will pass between a decision at Managment Level and the release of a new product.

And here is an update:

mikemander (who tested a prototype X-Pro2) published a picture that shows a 33mm frameline preview on the pre-production X-Pro2. Could that be the 33mmF1?

stay tuned on FujiRumors… who knows if FR-sources can give me an update on this soon… and if they do, you’ll read it immediatly here on FujiRumors ;)

P.S.: thanks to the FXF community and the FR-readers, who told me about it at our Forum and via email

Fuji changes Shipping Embargo on X-Pro2 to Late February :: Fujifilm X70 Price Changes from $799 to $699!

70

Fujifilm X70: USA: BHphoto / AmazonUS / Adorama / EUROPE: AmazonDE / AmazonUK / AmazonITA / AmazonFR / AmazonESP / PCHstore / WexUK / AUSTRALIA: CameraPro

_ _ _

While the Fujifilm X-Pro2 is having a well desevered great pre-order start (first in the CSC AmazonUS Camera Ranking), things does not seem to proceed that well for the little Fujifilm X70.

This might be the reason why the Fuji X70 price listed at stores changed from $799 to $699. It should be available on February 15.

Fujifilm also changed the shipping embargo on the X-Pro2. Here is the official statment that Fujfiilm send stores:

Due to a delay in shipping from the factory, we are revising the Sales Embargo date for the X-Pro2 camera body. In an effort to have inventory available at all of our retailers at the same time for the launch, we are EXTENDING the following Sales Embargo. X-Pro2 Body – Embargo on Retail Sales – EXTENDED until a TBD Date in Late February.”

And now you see why certain rumors (like firmware updates, shipping dates and price) are very difficult for me: Fuji can change it in any moment… even shortly after its launch.

X-Pro2

A reader asked me via Twitter here, if the X-Pro2 sensor if made by Sony. I’m saying it since years now here on FujiRumors, but repetita juvant: all APS-C X-series cameras use the isoless Sony Sensor. The 2/3 sensors are made by Toshiba (now aquired by Sony, too). And the X-Pro2 sensor is once again an isoless Sony sensor, just with special Fuji-designed X-Trans CFA. Fujifilm sold it’s sensor business long ago. Will they be back in the sensor business with the organic sensor one day? Time will tell.

Rico’s X-Pro2 Full-Size Sample Images (NEW: now also with Lightroom CC RAW samples)

A New Hope: The retro-styled X-Pro2 kicks off Fujifilm’s next generation of enthusiast X-series cameras, based on a state-of-the-art 24.3 MP X-Trans sensor and a much more powerful processor. At first, everything seems strikingly familiar, but a closer look reveals that quite a lot has changed.

A Fujifilm X-Pro2 after a few days of light use

Four years after the introduction of the X-Pro1, Fujifilm is finally ready to open a new chapter in their book of mirrorless cameras. At first glance, the X-Pro2 looks just like its predecessor. However, it’s a different story on the inside (click here for full camera specs and here for more than 150 straight-out-of-camera and Lightroom CC RAW conversion sample images).

Shooting Weddings with the X-Pro2 – Kevin Mullins

_ _ _

I don’t know you, but after looking at the first samples and reading the first reviews, I have the feeling that the X-Pro2 delivers so much more than some would have expected.

X-Trans III Rocks :)

RESOLUTION: Fuji said that the new 24 MP X-Trans III MP has the same resoution of 36MP Bayer sensor. And this might be true, since already dpreview tests show how the 16MP X-Trans sensorII has a “Bayer-equivalent” resolution of 24MP.

So that’s the first good news. But there is so much more

High ISO + AF: One of the big surprises was the high-ISO performance, which is just absolutely amazing. It has been pointed out in several reviews, and now also the very Popular German site Chip.de says it in this Video here: “High ISO is excellent, even at 12,800!” Moreover they praise the AutoFocus and say that the X-Pro2 can convince all along the line and will satisfy the needs of every Pro photographer. And if we can trust jonasrask in his review here, the waxy skin tones are gone!

I remember launching a poll time ago, where I asked you if Fuji should go Bayer or keep the X-TransIII sensor. I voted for X-Trans… and after the X-Pro2, I’m even more sure of my choice.

24 Hours Left and we Still Know Nothing about the Fujifilm X-Pro2 :: Japanese estimated price leaked

XPC leer

Exclusive X-pert Corner Special on January 14 @ 11:30 PM New York Time

_ _ _

Let me say it like this: “We don’t know anything about the Fujifilm X-Pro2… despite all the leaks of our amazing sources!”

Why?

Because on paper the wide phase detection pixel coverage sounds amazing… but in real life, how good does it perform? And how is the dynamic range of the new 24MP sensor? The ISO noise and more?

We want samples. We want first looks. We need tests… and for some reason nobody has (still) published (leaked) a first look ahead of the X-Pro2 launch.

And while specs are more or less exciting, what X-shooters really need now is not the on-paper-camera, but the real-life-camera. Feeling, handling & on field performance is not something you’ll find in spec-sheets (or in rather bad Promo Videos ;) )

But until then, all we have are rumors… and our rumor buddy digicame-info just leaked the price in Yen:

X-Pro2: 215000 yen (tax included) – ($1,681)
XF100-400mm: 242000 yen (tax included) – ($1,892)
X70: 96000 yen (including tax) – ($750)
External for X70 optical view finder VF-X21: 23000 yen (including tax) – ($179)
FinePix XP90: 30000 yen (including tax) – ($234)
