Nisi 9mm f/2.8 Review by Christopher Frost

Share

The Nisi 9mm f/2.8 lens for Fujifilm X mount has just been announced. You can see samples and specs in our dediacted launch article.

Now Christopher Frost shared his review about this lens (mounted on a Sony full frame camera).

Here is the summary of his video:

  • smooth focus and aperture ring
  • focus ring turns a little heavily and very precise for manual focusing
  • almost no focus breathing
  • 67mm filter size is nice and unusual for such a wide angle lens. Use a slim filter with this lens to avoid to occur in vignetting
  • metal lens hood
  • lovely build quality
  • image quality
  • at f/2.8: excellent sharpness and contrast in the center and still quite some good detail in the corners. The very edges are soft
  • at f/4 corners quickly improve to become very impressive
  • at f/16 comes a bit of softness due to diffraction
  • at f/2.8 distortion isn’t too high with just moderate barrel distortion
  • at f/2.8 huge vignetting in the corners and they begin to brighten up at f/4
  • 20 cm minimum focus distance and remains sharp at close distance
  • average amount of flaring although it is fairly transparent hence it should rarely cause any problems
  • coma smearing is absolutely minimal even at f/2.8 and what eventually is there is gone at f/4
  • some sunstar effect is visible even at f/2.8 and they become quickly nice and strong at f/4 and they get even better at f/8 and f/11
  • bokeh perhaps just a little nervous, but nothing too distracting
  • overall he is pretty impressed by how well this little lens performs

AstrHori to Launch a Tilt Shift Lens for Fujifilm GFX in 2022/2023

Share

I have been informed that AstrHori will launch a tilt-shift lens for Fujifilm GFX. The timing could be (if all goes well) within 2022, but also 2023 is a possibility.

Fujifilm has already announced two tilt-shift lenses for 2023, the Fujinon GF110mmF5.6 Tilt Shift Macro  and the Fujinon GF30mmF5.6 Tilt Shift. In fact, B&H Photo has them already listed at their website:

We have shared hands on images of the Fujinon tilt-shift lenses here.
