LEAKED: First Image of XF16-55mmF2.8 MKII mounted on X-M5

Share

Above you can see the first real life image of the very compact Fujifilm X-M5 coupled with the new Fujinon XF16-55mmF2.8 MKII.

We know it is the new XF16-55mmF2.8 II because right next to the red-badge XF logo there is a switch.

I know, some of you might suggest that this is the OIS switch, but it is not.

If you want to get a much better look at the Fujifilm X-M5, check out these images as well as the size comparison with the Fujifilm X-E4.

Fujifilm’s Move to 1-Inch Sensors: A Perfect Opportunity to Revive the X30, XQ2, and XF1?

Share

Now we know it: for the first time Fujifilm will use a 1″ sensor on their cameras.

The 1″ sensor will be the core of the Fujifilm Half Frame digital camera.

This raises an interesting question: with Fujifilm now sourcing plenty of 1″ sensors from Sony, why not revive one of their lines that previously used a 2/3 sensor?

Imagine a successor to the Fujifilm X30, perhaps called the X40 or X50 (if it comes with the 5th generation processor).

Or how about an ultra-compact Fujifilm XQ2 successor, like an XQ3 or even XQ5?

What about the stylish Fujifilm XF1? Should that one get the 1″ sensor revival?

And probably many of you don’t know it…

…. but there is another X series camera with 2/3 sensor that is totally forgotten, the Fujifilm X-S1. Would you like a 1″ version of that?

Maybe this could be an opportunity for Fujifilm to breathe new life into these lines with a 1″ sensor upgrade.

What do you think? Would you be interested in seeing a 1″ version of these cameras? Let us know by voting in the poll below!

Fujifilm’s Half Frame Camera has a 1″ Sensor

Share

Fujifilm will release definitely a unique camera in 2025: a digital half frame camera.

I guess we can imagine it as sort of the digital version of the (very successful) Pentax 17 half frame film camera.

And it will come with a sensor size that Fujifilm has so far never used on any of their cameras: a 1″ sensor!

I will personally hold on any judgment about this camera for now, because the concept of digital half frame camera is so unique, that I will keep my mind open for it.

Oh, and just to be clear: the image above is not a leaked image of the Fujifilm Half Frame camera, but just a quick rendering I made taking the Pentax 17 half frame film camera as a base for it.

Fujinon XF16-55mmF2.8 II Official Teaser and Size Comparison with XF16-55mmF2.8

Share

Fujifilm has published a teaser for the upcoming “lightest red badge lens” in the Fujinon lineup.

FujiRumors readers know already since July 2024 that this is the Fujinon XF16-55mmF2.8 MKII.

And actually you know even more than that, because:

Now the teaser gives us some insights on its size, because it shows the shape of the original XF16-55mmF2.8 followed by the one of the new XF16-55mmF2.8.

Just keep in mind that these are only renderings. When I overlaid image of the original XF16-55mmF2.8 onto its own shape shown in the teaser, the sizes didn’t quite match up. The actual XF16-55mmF2.8 lens seems to be still slightly larger than what’s depicted in the teaser.

If that’s correct, then the new XF16-55mmF2.8 II should be even a tiny bit smaller compared to the original XF16-55mmF2.8 than what the teaser images would suggest.

Feel free to do your own comparisons and share them in the comments down below.
