Fujifilm FF240001 Registration Found (3rd Unreleased Product): The Rumors Go Wild with Fujifilm GFX25, GFX100SII, X-Pro4, X100 and More

On the Chinese Weibo (linked below), the patent for a third unregistered Fujifilm camera has surfaced, the FF240001.

So we are now at a total of three registered cameras that have yet to be released.

  • FF230002
  • FF230003
  • FF240001

From here all possible speculations start and you can read them down below.

How do I know these are just made up speculations and not rumors?

Well, because there are so many errors I will have to correct ;). In short here are the “rumors”.

  • What they say is Sure (+ Possible)
  • 4 to 6 cameras coming in 2024
  • GFX100SII with X-T5 retro style body and no 8K video and lack of many video functions
  • X100V successor almost done. 40 MP biggest possibility
  • Highly Reliable
  • X-Pro4 updated to X-T5 performance with normal flip screen. But another source it has still the mini-LCD on the back. New film simulation
  • X100V with IBIS and OIS and 160MP High resolition mode
  • Generally Reliable
  • X100V with 50mm mode (20MP resolution)
  • 2024 is the year of GFX, with GFX100SII and several GF lenses with good focus performance
  • GFX25 coming mainly for video shooting (multiple sources confirm this)
  • Basically Impossible
  • GFX200 with 200 Megapixel
  • X-T40 ready to be released with 40 megapixel
  • No Reliability Rating
  • X-E series update in summer 2024
  • GF 14-20mm coming
  • 2x TC for GFX

But hey, it’s online. Let’s have fun even if it’s just made up stuff :).

Fujifilm GFX100S II Coming First Months of 2024: Speculating about Differences to GFX100 II

Fujifilm GFX100SII
Speculated Specs and Questions

We recently told you that the Fujifilm GFX100S II will come in the first months 2024.

So the question now is: what could be the differences or similarities between the Fujifilm GFX100S II and the Fujifilm GFX100 II?

To be clear: these are just speculations, not rumors.

  • lower price than GFX100II
  • lower EVF resolution
  • still no battery grip option
  • lower bursts rates than GFX100II
  • smaller body
  • a bit inferior video specs (due to smaller body and not optimal heat dissipation)
  • no full size HDMI and Ethernet port

I think the list above makes a whole lot of sense. But now it gets tougher and the question are:

  • will the GFX100 II have the new optimized 100MP sensor (improved readout circuits, microlenses etc) or will it use the older non-optimized 100MP sensor to keep price as low as possible?
  • will it have only SD-card slots or also a CFexpress card slot?
  • will it offer Frame.io integration in camera body or not?

And last but not least (and maybe most importantly):

  • will the GFX100S II still have the PSAM layout or will retro dials return on GFX with the GFX100S II?

These are just some of my personal non-rumor based speculations and questions. Feel free to add yours in the comments below.

As usual, all the answers will follow on FujiRumors.com.

Fujifilm GFX100 II has 21% Better Autofocus Tracking Accuracy than GFX100S and We are All saying it Wrong!

Autofocus Boost

Fujifilm USA manager Michael Bulbenko has shared a video called “Understanding Fujifilm GFX100II“.

Now, I will let you watch the video below, where he runs over the specs.

But there is one thing that Michael Bulbenko says that I’d like to hightlight because I haven’t seen it mentioned anywhere else:

  • better autofocus accuracy: “the GFX100II has a 21% improvement in the hit rate of locking on to focus compared to GFX100S

That’s of course a welcome improvement if you shoot in autofocus continous.

More accuracy combined with higher frames per second (8fps on GFX100II vs 5fps on GFX100S) will lead to more keepers.

But I dare to say that, if you are like me and shoot with your GFX in single AF or max 3 fps, then the 21% improvement are welcome, but not crucial.

What’s more important , for my shooting style, is the new autofocus algorithm and how reliable it is in tracking eyes/faces/subjects before I even press the shutter button.

My X-T5 is a huge step forward in this regard compared to anything else I owned before in the X series.

If the GFX100II has the same “confidence”, then this would be a big deal for me.

We are Saying it Wrong

Also curious: throughout the entire video Michael calls the GFX100II “the second” and not “two“.

And just today, Fujifilm USA released one of their fun product launch videos where they underline again that it’s “the second” and not “two”.

I guess the memo did not arrive to Fujifilm Japan, because during the Fujifilm X Summit, the Japanese managers kept calling it Fujifilm GFX100 “two” ;).

With that said, you can enjoy both videos down below.

Fujifilm GFX100 II IBIS Performance with GF Lenses (vs GFX100S)

Thanks to a new smart system that relies not only on the gyro sensor to stabilise the sensor, but also uses data from the image sensor itself to fine tune stabilisation (more about it in our X summit summary), the Fujifilm GFX100II is capable of achieving 8 stops IBIS.

But this peak 8 stops performance is achieved not with all lenses.

In the chart above shared by Ken L Photo (in text format below) you can see how many stops of IBIS you get on the GFX100II with each GF lens. Also, you get the IBIS performance comparison with the Fujifilm GFX100S.

Fujifilm GFX100 II Teaser Video Online (not Fujifilm GFX100SII) – Full Frame’s Biggest Threat is Coming Tomorrow

Trust me.

The Fujifilm GFX100 II will blow your mind.

We have shown how it destroyed the Hasselblad X2D by the specs and it will be the biggest temptation ever launched for Full Frame users to ditch their smaller sensor and step up to something about 70% larger and fuller than full frame.

And today Fujifilm gives us a first glimpse into the Fujifilm GFX100 II with the video you can see above (screenshots below). We notice:

  • 2 FN buttons on the fron of the camera
  • PSAM dial with 6 Custom modes
  • manual MCS switch still there
  • three buttons right behind the shutter
  • movie/stills switch

NOTE: I hear some claim this camera is called Fujifilm GFX100SII. But that’s FAKE. This is not the Fujifilm GFX100S II, but the Fujifilm GFX100II.
