One of the most fun moments of blogging on FujiRumors, is when we have a live blogging.

Yes, I do not sleep, and yes, I blog 48+ hours in a row, but it’s just too exciting seeing months (or years) of rumors coming true and to go through hundreds of your comments and read what you guys think about the latest and greatest X gear.

But I know, not everybody of you goes back 24 hours later to the live blogging page to check if new content is up, and that’s why I think some of you might have missed the following tidbit:

Fujifilm launched a dedicated Fujifilm X-T100 website.

I share this little piece of news again with you today, not only for those who missed it, but also to show you that the Fujifilm X-T100 is not a half-hearted project of Fujifilm, but a camera they strongly believe in, which is why Fuji’s marketing machine is running full power in order to promote the X-T100.

Will the Fujifilm X-T100 be successful? I do not know. Certainly I wish Fujifilm much success with this very gently priced and yet well featured camera.

Fujifilm X-T3 Opinion Polls: Touch Screen? X-T100 Selfie Screen? Bigger Battery?

Fujifilm just launched the Fujifilm X-T100, which has a new 3 way tilt screen.

After having seen how the new tilt screen works, a number of FR-readers asked me to launch again the “X-T3 tilt screen survey“… and since you guys are my only boss, I will do as you desire ;) .

So how does the new X-T100 Selfie-Tilt Screen work?

Fujifilm’s “selfie-solution” tilts up and down with the screen perfectly centered to the camera (just like on the X-T2 & Co). In addition to that, you can also tilt it forward for selfies and still tilt the LCD up and down.

For your convenicence, I have made a short collage of various videos on youtube, that show the tilt screen in action.

Some say this solutions combines the best of both worlds.

Having finally seen how it really works, I think it’s a far call by you guys to ask me to re-launch our Fujifilm X-T3 “selfie screen” poll.

And since we are in survey-mood, I decided to launch a few more additional survey, always regarding the X-T3, which you are free to participate and vote.

Quick IBIS note

FujiRumors has already rumored in January 2018 that the Fujifilm X-T3 will not have IBIS, but just for curiosity I launch the poll again (after the first X-T3 IBIS Dealbreaker Survey here), because I’d like to know if you would have liked to sacrifice the smaller size of X-T3 over the X-H1 in order to get IBIS.

Fujifilm X-M5 Coming with Selfie Screen – My Hope is the Return of This Screen!

Unlike the original Fujifilm X-M1, the successor, the Fujifilm X-M5, will come with a fully articulating screen.

That’s all I know.

But I have a hope.

And my hope is that, instead of using the same screen we find on the X-S20/X-H2 etc, Fujifilm will give a comeback to the unique tilt/flip screen of the Fujifilm X-T100. I will never understand why Fujifilm dropped that concept as it allows to go in “selfie mode” but still retain the option of a simple tilt-screen function, with the screen remaining nicely centered to the camera.

I think that screen it would have made the X-S20, X-H2 and X-H2S an even more appealing camera to many. So I think Fujifilm missed an opportunity there.

But again, that’s not a rumor, just a hope of mine.

And since we are talking of dropped concepts, also the before/after split screen slider on the X-T200 screen would be nice to have. But also in this case I have no rumors, just a wish of mine.

Another curiosity: the Fujifilm X-A and X-M line, as well as the X-T*** line, where Fujifilm branded cameras, but actually manufactured by the Xacti Corporation. And as it is well known, all Xacti made cameras have all been discontinued.

Now, I have not heard that Xacti is back, so I suppose (not rumor) that this time the camera will be made by Fujifilm. But that’s not a rumor, just a speculation. Maybe it will be another Xacti made but Fujifilm branded camera. We will soon see.

RUMOR: Big Start for Fujifilm in 2024 with Multiple (and Record?) Camera Announcements

Starting Big in 2024

So, we told you that there won’t be any new Fujifilm gear announcement in 2023.

But don’t worry, Fujifilm is working full power right now.

In fact, we have been told that in the “first months of 2024″ Fujifilm will announce more cameras than in the entire year 2023.

Considering that we got a total of 2 cameras in 2023, this means we can expect three or more cameras coming in the first months of 2024.

I have checked back, and as far as I can see, in 13 years of X/GFX series there has been only one year in which Fujifilm launched more than two cameras in the first months of the year (without counting the entry level cameras that were made by Xacti Corporation and not by Fujifilm).

It was back in 2017 when Fujifilm released the Fujifilm GFX 50S, Fujifilm X100F and Fujifilm X-T20.

But even if we would count the Xacti cameras (X-T100, X-T200, X-A5, X-A20 etc), we would get a total of 3 years out of 13 in which Fujifilm kicked off the year with more than two cameras, and also in that case we reach 3 cameras max (as in 2017).

So, by launching three or more Fujifilm cameras (made by Fujfiilm) in the first months of 2024, Fujifilm is out for a record release rate, matching or exceeding the announcements we had only once in 13 years of Fujifilm X/GFX history.

Not bad ;).

One Camera is Sure

Now, thanks to our sources we know already what one of these cameras will be: the replacement of this camera here.

What will the other cameras be?

Well, you know what you have to do: just stay tuned on FujiRumors, and you will know it.

And what about lenses?

Well, we know that the next XF lens to come will be the replacement of this lens here.

But even though I have no further solid lens rumors right now, I do hope to be able to share more soon.

Sony A7rV vs Fujifilm X-H2 vs Fujifilm GFX100S – The Complete Specs Comparison

Sony just announced the Sony A7rv, a 61 megapixel camera without stacked sensor.

In the Fujifilm world the non-stacked high resolution competitors would be the Fujifilm X-H2 and the Fujifilm GFX100S.

With the Fujifilm X-H2 costing just half the price of the Sony, to me this shows once again that the best balance is offered by APS-C. Also considering that the 40MP Fujifilm X-T5 will come in at an even lower price.

But if price does not matter and resolution as well as ever so slight increase in dynamic range is what you need, then you can also pay 50% more than the A7rV and get 67% more pixels and plus better dynamic range on the Fujifilm GFX100S.

It’s just nice that we have so much choice these days.

But Specs…

But specs alone don’t tell the whole thing and in some cases they can be even a bit misleading.

The Fujifilm GFX100S might beat the Sony A7rV when it comes to resolution and dynamic range, but the Sony A7rV and of course the latest Fujifilm APS-C cameras have superior autofocus and better video features.

Another example… the Sony A7rV has a 9 Million dot viewfinder as opposed to the 5 million dot EVF of the Fujifilm X-H2. But the EVF of the X-H2 has all new optical elements that give an incredible corner to corner sharp view.

And once you go at 5+ million dots and beyond, it gets harder and harder for the human eye to notice any difference. In fact, I have read statements of journalists who used both viewfinders, the one of the new Sony A7rV and the Fujifilm X-H2, and they said that they honestly can’t see any difference. So I guess it’s up to companies to decide if customers have to spend more money on even higher resolution EVF’s that bring no real life benefit, but that allow them to brag on the specs sheet, or use a more affordable EVF that gives just the same results.

What on the other hand makes much more influence on the real life shooting experience of the Sony A7rV is the new tilt screen, which is similar to the one Fujifilm already used many years ago on the Fujifilm X-T100, and here on FujiRumors we said that this is actually one of the two features Fujifilm should take from their entry level line and implement in higher end cameras.

So, as in everything, there is much more than just specs that define a camera. But specs are a good start, and you can compare them here at BHphoto.

Two Things Fujifilm Should SAVE from their Axed Entry Level Line and Bring to Mid-Range X Cameras

NOTE: As some FR-reader noticed, the screen design of the new Sony A7rV is similar (not identical) to the one of the Fujifilm X-T100.

Two Things to Save from Entry Level

I think Fujifilm has been pretty clear about the fact that entry level is no longer on their radar.

And many FR readers could not care less about the X-T200, X-A7, X-A20, X-M1 (although I’d personally find it a pity if especially the X-T*** line would disappear).

So yes, those lines might be gone.

But there is something to be found in Fuji’s entry level cameras that higher end models do not have and that I think would be nice if they’d find their way into some of Fuji’s remaining camera lines.

And if I’d have to pick two, I’d say: the unique tilt/flip screen of the Fujifilm X-T100 (similar – but not identical – to the one of the brand new Sony A7rV) combined with the before/after split screen slider on the X-T200 screen.

Those are just nice features that I could see work well on some X series camera lines.

Those could be also appealing features for those customers used to photograph only with smartphones and who are looking for a more serious camera to document their daily life.

3 Times I Loved the Selfie Screen

I lately shared a couple of posts on my Instagram page, showing images of myself making good use of the Selfie Screen on my Fujifilm X-T4.

So what, did I join the “dark side” and fell in love with fully articulating screens as some have suggested?

Well, not really.

The whole point of these posts was just to show that, in rare cases, a fully articulating screen really simplifies the composition of an image.

So here are 3 times I loved the fully articulating screen on my X-T4 as it allowed me to take a picture that would have been much more complicated and cumbersome to take with any other screen.
