Fujifilm X-T100 with 24 MP Bayer Sensor and Selfie Screen. Do You Want a Fujifilm X-T3 with Selfie Screen? – POLL

Fujifilm X-T100

Hey all…

So you really missed it? I just had birthday!!!

But don’t worry… I am so busy at the moment, I almost forgot that I have birthday by myself, seriously.

Luckily a source didn’t forget it, and decided to make me… and hence all of you.. a little rumor-birthday present :).

It’s about the Fujifilm X-T100.

When we first shared the first Fujifilm X-T100 rumor back in September 2017 (!!!) we told you that this will be a camera that will cost less than the Fujifilm X-T20.

A few days later, we were told it will have a Bayer sensor, hence joining the X-A series as Fujifilm’s so far only Bayer sensor cameras.

Well, this morning I had a chat with a source, and it passed me two more rumors about the Fujifilm X-T100

  • 24 Megapixel Bayer sensor
  • Selfie Screen

If true, then this would be Fuji’s first DSLR-style camera (centered viewfinder with hump), to have a selfie screen.

Unlike the Fujifilm X70 and X-A cameras, the screen won’t tilt upwards, since there is the viewfinder in the way. The source could not give me further details (it does not know if it tilts down or out on the side), but it is sure the screen is “Selfie-fit”.

Of course I asked further details, but the source does not know more at this moment. However, I submitted a bunch of questions, and it told me it will try to find out more about it, if possible. If you have questions too, drop them in the comments… the source will read them and eventually add them to my list of questions.

But this is just the beginning… follow FujiRumors on Facebook, RSS-feed, Instagram, Youtube and Twitter to get more rumors :)

Fujifilm X-T3

Here on FujiRumors we have already leaked the core specs and more of the Fujifilm X-T3. A little recap:

But speaking of Selfie screens, would you like a Selfie screen like the X-T100 also on the X-T3? Feel free to vote the Poll down below and to motivate your choice in the comments.

BREAKING: Fujifilm X-T3 with 26 Megapixel (Stacked) Sensor

Fujifilm X-T3

According to our sources, the Fujifilm X-T3 will have a 26 Megapixel sensor, which confrims the “less than 30MP” rumor we shared a few months ago.

One more detail: at this stage we think it will most likely have the same stacked sensor technology of the Sony A9, but take it with a grain of salt for now. I share an update for you guys as soon as possible.

Make sure to stay tuned on FR via Facebook, RSS-feed and Twitter to get all the latest rumors & news.

What is a “stacked sensor”?

The stacked sensor allows a super-fast sensor readout and hence extremely fast AF measurments, blackout-less EVF almost no rolling shutter and more.

If the rumor is correct, then there will be 3 main aspects, that will make the Fujifilm X-T3 a speed monster:

  • stacked sensor (allows fast sensor readout)
  • “only” 26MP (not excessively many megapixel means less data to elaborate for the processor)
  • new X-Processor

Keep in mind that, as we also already told you, the Fujifilm X-T3 will not have IBIS and be announced around photokina 2018 (September)

Now go and spread the word on social media, blogs and forums… and quote the source ;)

Fujifilm X-H1: Double Exposure Music Video and More Stunning Work… and Does Gear Matter?

Fujifilm X-H1… the Other Roundup :)

Yesterday we shared a more technical Fujifilm X-H1 roundup: pixel peeping, comparisons etc.

Today I’d like to focus on actual work produced with Fujifilm’s latest flagship APS-C camera. And it might be a bit of a surprise, but it’s true: investing in your creativity and your vision, will improve your video – and photography more than any new gear you can buy ;) . Regarding this topic, I’ll share a video of Ming Cai down below, who investigates the question, if gear really does matter.

Let’s start…

… with an amazing music BTS video of Rick Joaquim shared at FujiFilm South Africa Youtube. Rick is also a member of our Fujifilm X-H1 group, and he explains:

I had been toying around with the idea of a #DoubleExposure music video for while and thought this would be the perfect project to try it out on. […] Lots of trial and error doing Double Exposures in post. Was all done in After Effects

Again, make sure to check out the video at  FujiFilm South Africa Youtube.

And here is some more actual work done with the Fujifilm X-H1.

Fujifilm GFX: 18mm and 45mm Macro Extension Tubes Coming + GF 100-200, GF 35mmF2.8 and GF 20-36mm Rumors

It’s still not on the official GF lens roadmap, but if our new source is correct, than there will be 2 new extension tubes coming for the Fujifilm GFX (around 45mm and 18mm).

The current Fujinon G Mount roadmap shows a GF 1.4x Teleconverter and a GF 250mmF4. But of course there will be more coming this year than just this.

In fact, we rumored back in April 2017, that there will be a GF 100-200. At that time, Fujifilm was unsure if they will launch the 100-200 or the GF 20-36mm F3.5-4.5 first (as you can see in the “secret” roadmap), and Fujifilm went for the 100-200.

The same “secret” roadmap, lists also the GF 35mm F2.8 for mid 2018.

BREAKING: Fujifilm X-T3 and GFX 100S will Have Interchangeable FULL FRAME, APS-C and Monochrome Sensor Similar to Ricoh GXR/S10

Fujifilm X-T3

Do you like Full Frame? Do you prefer APS-C? Is X-Trans your thing or do you want a Bayer sensor? Or maybe you always dreamed of a monochrome sensor?

Don’t worry, to get all of this, you will need just one camera, the Fujifilm X-T3.

Our top trusted Japanese source just told us that the Fujifilm X-T3 will have an interchangeable lens/processor/sensor.

The concept is similar to the one used by the Ricoh GXR/S10, where basically lens, sensor and processor will be integrated into 1 single unit, that you can switch how you prefer.

Our trusted source told us, that at the Fujifilm X-T3 launch in September 2018, the Fujifilm X-T3 will be offered with:

  • 24MP APS-C X-Trans sensor
  • New X-Trans sensor with less than 30MP
  • 24MP BSI Bayer Full Frame sensor of Sony A7III
  • Monochrome 24MP Full Frame Sensor of Leica M Monochrom
  • organic APS-C sensor with global shutter

Along with the Fujifilm X-T3, Fujifilm will also launch the first two Full Frame lenses:

  • XFF 35mm F1.8
  • XFF 70-200mm F2.8

I asked our Japanese source if it will have also the option of a Medium Format sensor, but the source said MF sensor would make the Fujifilm X-T3 chassis too big, and Fujifilm wants to keep it smaller than the X-H1.

Fuji’s idea is to offer a Fujifilm X-T3, where you guys can still perfectly use all your current APS-C lenses, but if you want, you can slowly transition to full frame and finally spend more money on bigger FF glass.

The source also told us, that the new system is the real reason, why the Fujifilm X-T3 will not have IBIS: it is just technically too complicated at the moment to make an interchangeable sensor system with IBIS incorporated.

The price of the Fujifilm X-T3 will be “extremely agressive” said the source and “lower than current X-T2 price“.

You can check out the Ricoh GXR/S10 to get more details on how it works.

Fujifilm GFX 100S

The source also told us that the Fujifilm GFX 100S will also have a completely interchangeable sensor/processor unit, and in this case Fujifilm will offer a monochrome medium format sensor as well as an APS-C X-Trans sensor, so that people, upgrading from APS-C to Medium Format, will be able to use all their Fujinon XF glass on the GFX 100S without needing any adapter

No Full Frame sensor will be offered for the Fujifilm GFX 100S.

On the other hand, the Fujifilm GFX 50R will remain with a fixed MF sensor. The goal of this camera is to make it as cheap as possible.

Kai Reviews Fujifilm X-H1: “In Stills, Focus Sticks on Subject Like Glue, Quite Phenomenal”

Kai’s Fujifilm X-H1 Review

Kai reviewed the Fujifilm X-H1. Here are some of his findings:

  • Fujifilm lied about IBIS wasn’t compatible with X mount ;)
  • always loves the Fujifilm colors
  • amazing shutter, super silent
  • better weather sealed than X-T2
  • X-H1 feels right in the hands, even with grip
  • a proper Pro camera
  • he loves the top Ink-screen
  • AF and eye/face AF is pretty good in video
  • video footage seriously good, solid amount of dynamic range
  • in low contrast and low light he experienced situations where video focus was really bad
  • focus sticks on your subject like glue in stills mode, quite a phenomenal camera
  • no zebra and not so responsive touch screen
  • tough choice between X-H1 and A7III

Fujifilm Managers Talk About Sony A7III, Low Resolution X-H1S, X-Trans 4 and Fujifilm X-T3, Sensor Shift Multishot, Mirrorless Future, DSLR’s & More

Today I’d like to share with you guys 2 interviews that Fujifilm managers gave to the Spanish site albedomedia and the French site focus-numerique. Both are focused on the Fujifilm X-H1, but not only.

Let’s start with the one in my favorite language, Spanish, and the interview at albedomedia:

  • X-H1 size: The truth is that the ‘feedback’ we obtained from users is that they wanted a larger camera, especially a ‘grip’ of larger dimensions to improve its operation,
  • IBIS in Smaller Bodies: [The Fujifilm X-H1] could not be made smaller either, due to the system of stabilization in the body -IBIS- , which needed a more contundent mechanical structure
  • High Resolution multi shot: Technically it is possible, yes, although at the moment we do not have plans to incorporate it […] although it is not something strictly necessary, it does represent a very interesting option for certain situations where this extra resolution is needed, especially in this APS-C format, more limited in these aspects than higher-order sensors. size.
  • Sony A7III: […] we believe that, globally speaking, the Fujifilm system is more balanced […] we believe that our optics, much more balanced, are an advantage […] However, it is true that they [Sony] have better marketing; that is something that we must improve
  • X-H1 Vs. X-T2 (and Fujifilm X-T3): The X-H1 is oriented as a hybrid product for photography and video, while the X-T2 is focused mainly for photography, so [the latter] will evolve especially in this aspect
  • X-T2 video enhancements via Firmware Update: Yes, some models will be updated with some of these developments, but we have yet to decide when it will be done
  • X-T2 Vs. X-H1 heat dissipation and hardness: In fact, in the X-T2 we used a 6H hardness, while in the X-H1 it is 8H, thanks to its new paint particles applied. In addition, heat dissipation is improved by 25%
  • Battery Life: It was about finding a compromise between size and autonomy, in addition to maintaining compatibility with existing cameras. For those users who need greater autonomy, opt for the external grip with additional battery
  • Low Resolution X-H1S like A7S and GH5S?: We do not have it planned; at the moment we want to focus on a hybrid photo / video product, although perhaps in the future we could consider it, depending on the success of the video
  • Next X-Trans Sensor: The [current] 24 Mpx are a good compromise for now. On the other hand, increasing the resolution would not increase the quality either, due to the limitations of the optics
  • AF Improvement: The performance of the AF could be improved. The area of AF covered by our cameras is smaller than that of our competitors […] our current 6 × 6 X-Trans matrix works quite well, there’s no need to change it

I agree that Sony has a better marketing strategy than Fujifilm, and I am happy to hear that it is technically possible for Fujifilm to implement the sensor shift multi shot feature on the Fujifilm X-H1 X-Trans camera. It’s a feature that honestly will be very rarely used (if ever), but one of those things that you better have than not… just in case.

They also basically confirm our rumor, that the Fujifilm X-T3 won’t have a much increased pixel number. We reported that the new X-Trans sensor will still below 30MP.

And now the interview by the French site focus-numerique:

  • Advantages of X-H1 over GH5, GH5s and Sony A7S II: most important advantage is in the quality of color reproduction. We have integrated into the X-H1 the new Eterna film simulation which is particularly adapted to obtain a cinematic aesthetic
  • Sensitive Shutter Button: opinions about trigger sensitivity were mixed. We decided to keep our initial choices, but we intend to offer our users the opportunity to contact Fujifilm after-sales service to rectify the sensitivity of the trigger if they wish
  • Autofocus compared ot DSLR: We believe that sooner or later we will catch up with the few delays we still have in the world of SLRs
  • Mirrorless Future: We also believe that from 2019, more than 50% of cameras sold worldwide will be hybrids.

I am pretty sure that Fujifilm plans to close the gap in AF speed with DSLR already with the Fujifilm X-T3, which will have a more powerful processor and a new sensor with lenss than 30MP. Keeping the megapixel still below 30 megapixel will allow the new processor to calculate the data faster.

Regarding the Fujifilm X-H1, if I understood the google translation correctly, Fujifilm offers a service, where you can change the sensitivtiy of the shutter button if you wish.

Fujifilm X-H1 Vs. Panasonic GH5 Vs. Sony A7sII Video Features Comparison

Fujifilm X-H1 vs Panasonic GH5 vs Sony A7SII

It’s time for comparisons, and this time Vistek compares the video features of Fujifilm X-H1 with the Panasonic GH5 and the Sony A7SII.

Here is a summary for those of you, who can’t watch the video right now, but make sure to check it out later at Vistek Youtube.

Profiles Comparison

  • X-H1: Super impressed with ETERNA profile. Great latitude and color. Shadow boost pretty nice and in post he even got some highlight detail back. He lost some highlight details in face, but he could probably get that back with further tweaks
  • GH5: Panasonic Cine-D profile. Highlights quite blown out. Mid-tones seem quite milky
  • A7SII: Set to PP5 and Cine 3. Highlights are super clippy and the profile shows the least amount of dynamic range. Despite that, he was able to tweak the exposure without roasting the skin highlights
  • WINNER: X-H1, because ETERNA profile has the most dynamic range and requires less tweaking in post. FujiRumors summary: it makes life easier ;)

LOG Comparison (8 bit for Sony and Fuji, 10 bit for Panasonic)

  • WINNER: Sony S-Log3, but he says that “I’m still not convinced that F-log isn’t quite as good though it would be nice to see it supported fully by Resolve

High ISO

  • ISO 3200: Sony looks good. Fuji has more grain and some artifacting. GH5 has most artifacts and grain
  • ISO 6400: Sony looks like 3200. The X-H1 holds up quite well. No real color shifts. The GH5 has major color shifts.
  • ISO 12500: for 24MP APS-C sensor, the X-H1 actually holds up quite well. Like on Sony no real perceivable color shift. It has more grain, but not unusable. You can probably clean up a lot in post and come up with a nice image. GH5 no comment.
  • WINNER: Sony A7sII, but no surprise. The downside of the Sony: it’s a 12MP sensor, hardly serious photography specs. Best all-rounder for stills and video is the X-H1.

Video Autofocus:

  • X-H1: not as responsive as he would have hoped, but when it works, it works. [Firmware Update, Fuji?]
  • GH5: often sluggish or completely non responsive
  • A7sII: snappy and accurate. By far best AF in video of the 3 cameras
  • WINNER: A7sII

IBIS:

  • Larger sensor is going to be less stable than smaller sensor.
  • WINNER: GH5, followed by X-H1 and last A7sII.

Button Design and Layout

  • X-H1: simple, clean and easy to use
  • GH5: very intuitive, but also a bit cluttery, which slows the reviewer down a little bit. Has a fully articulating screen. Good for vloggers.
  • A7sII: everything is in weird places. It doesn’t feel intuitive.
  • WINNER: He does not want to declare a winner, because it depends on your taste… but the X-H1…. ;)
