Save $400 on Fujifilm GFX100SII at Amazon

Amazon US is currently offering a $399 rebate on the Fujifilm GFX100SII. The coupon code discount will be applied at checkout.

At the moment, neither BHphoto here nor Adorama here are offering this rebate. It is also not listed by Fujifilm in the list of official deals. So it seems to be available at Amazon US only.

Fujifilm Launches X Deals in Europe

Fujifilm has launched new Fujifilm X deals in Europe. They pretty much match the deals in USA, although there are some differences.

The deals are instant rebates in UK and I think also in France, but they are cashback deals in Germany, which means in Germany, after your purchase, go to this page and claim your money back.

If you buy at Amazon, make sure to buy gear shipped and sold by Amazon to access the Cashback. But attention: Amazon Germany is listed among the official retailers, but not Amazon France. In UK its an instant rebate and that works also on Amazon UK.

I have not yet found the deals listed in Italy and other countries, so make sure to check out the conditions in your country before purchasing. Select the promotion in your country on this page here. And you can always give your local retailer a call, they also know all the details of the deals.

What’s Hiding Behind Fujifilm’s “Minor Bug” Fixes?

Every time I report about a new firmware update, I get asked (such as here): what’s hiding behind the mysterious phrase “fix of minor bugs“?

That’s a legit question, also considering that, in rare occasions, updating the firmware can actually introduce new bugs (this happens with every brand, Sony, Nikon, Canon and Co. They all struggle with that).

So why update the firmware for a minor thing if your gear works just fine?

Well, unless your gear has a specific issue that the firmware update addresses, it’s generally a good idea to wait a bit before updating. Just to see if some issues come up with the new firmware.

I don’t do that, honestly. I update immediately. But I also don’t photograph weddings or do professional work with my gear (oh well, except for this wedding, but that one I shot for free).

And yet…

even if the firmware addresses a “minor bug”, I strongly recommend to update anyway sooner or later..

Why?

Well, because sometimes the bugs are not really “minor”.

For example: in 2020 Fujifilm released a firmware also for X-T4 and it gave us a “minor bug fix”. At that time I was in holiday in Southern Italy and I took some time to try to find out what it really fixed. Well, it turned out the minor bug fix was actually a major one, as it drastically reduced the exposure stepping in video.

This was a major complaint and a major bug fix, but Fujifilm did hide it behind the phrase “fix of minor bugs“.

Other times, the “minor bug” might be better called an “embarrassing bug fix”. In fact so embarrassing, that Fujifilm (but that’s valid also for other brands) doesn’t want you to know what it is, hence they don’t elaborate on that.

For example, I think it was the X-Pro1 that got a “minor bug” fixed, but what it really fixed was that the focus point worked “mirrored”, so if you moved the AF box to the bottom right of the frame, the camera would actually focus on the top left of the frame.

This is why ultimately I always recommend to update your gear, even if Fujifilm calls it just a smaller bug fix.

If you want, wait a couple of weeks and then see if there are reports here on FujiRumors or in Fuji Forums about problems with the firmware. And if there aren’t, update! What Fujifilm calls “minor” might not really be that minor in the end.

And in any case remember: if for some reason a firmware would break certain features of your camera, Fujifilm will release a free follow-up firmware fix and don’t charge you $700+ like Sony :D.

LEAKED: Fujinon XF16-50mm f/2.8-4.8 R LM WR Additional Images

There is this wonderful little lens in the Fujinon lineup that has brought huge joy to many of us (me included).

In fact, I’ve taken some of my all-time favourite images with it.

But it’s time for this lens to retire.

In fact, we have already shared that a replacement will come. And thanks to our sources we could also share the first leaked images a couple of months ago as well as some nice specs.

Of course we are talking about the new kit lens that is going to replace the glorious XF18-55: the Fujinon XF16-50mm f/2.8-4.8

Well, now we can leak a new set of images brought to us a source, who has shared accurate rumors in the past. (THANKS AGAIN!!!).

You can see the new images in this article below.

At the last X summit, Fujifilm did tease the lens, but did not share images nor specs. All they told is was that it will be “beyond the ordinary kit lens“. Certainly optically it will be superior to the XF18-55mm (and capable of resolving 40MP), but it will come also with features we usually find on higher end lenses, such as the internal zoom (that’s a rumor, Fujifilm has not disclosed this detail).

New XF Lens on Roadmap

Forget About Fujifilm X-Pro4, X-E5, GFX100SII, X-T40, X80 & Co: the Only Camera Coming February 20 is the Fujifilm X100VI

What’s Coming

No, we will not hear anything about the Fujifilm X-Pro4 on February 20. Nothing.

And nothing also about the Fujifilm X-E5, or X-T40 or X-T300, or X80, or GFX100R.

The truth is this: the only camera to be announced on February 20 will be the Fujifilm X100VI.

I guess the Fujifilm X100VI is just too important for Fujifilm and it’s best that it does not get any distraction from other cameras on launch day.

Many of you guys might have seen it coming, due to the lack of rumors about other cameras.

But FujiRumors will make sure that the lack of rumors about other cameras will end soon ;).

Surprises?

But this does not mean we can’t get any surprises on February 20.

I still hope (no rumor) that Fujifilm will give us a new X mount roadmap, or makes major Kaizen firmware announcements, or they could even announce new lenses considering the fact that our sources said the X100VI is the only camera coming on February 20 (and we have leaked images of future XF lenses already months ago). But to be clear: as of now, I have not received information about other gear to come on February 20 (which does not mean it can’t come).

And Fujifilm has also teased a major XApp update, which hopefully might also be announced on February 20 (not a rumor, just a hope).

But they could also show us protoypes of gear to come.

As far as I can remember, at every X Summit something happened that I did not see coming, and I am confident that also this time we will get some surprises.

So definitely stay tuned on FujiRumors on February 20. We will cover it all, and you won’t miss anything.
