Fujifilm MK Cine Lenses: X-Mount Version Confirmed for Late 2017, Feedback and Canadian Hands On Demo (Aug. 17)

Fujifilm MK Cinema Lenses for X-Mount

We already reported back in April, that Fujiiflm officially said they will launch the X-mount version of the Fujinon MK18-55mm F2.9 and MK50-130mm T2.9 within the end of 2017.

And just in case you are waiting for it and were afraid there could be any delays, don’t worry, another Fujifilm press release confirms that the launch of the X-mount Fujinon MK lenses is still scheduled for late 2017 :)

The Fujinon MK lenses have no OIS (optical image stabilization), which won’t be much of an issue for those of you, who plan to purchase the Fujifilm X-T2S (successor of the X-T2), which will come with IBIS (in body image stabilization).

And as we just reported earlier today, IBIS on the X-T2S will work not only with the MK lenses, but also with all other X-mount lenses.

Besides confirming the late 2017 release for the MK lenses, the press release also shares:

  • Feedback from customers
  • Links to Sample Footage
  • Information about a hands-on demo of the MK-50-135mm in Mississauga (CA) on August 17

FYI: here is the factory tour, that shows where they manufacture the Fujinon MK lenses (and more).

Fujifilm X-E3 will Have the Focus Joystick

Ok guys, I think you will love this one… the Fujifilm X-E3 will have the joystick !!!

According to our huge X-E3 poll results here, the joystick is one of the most wanted features for the upcoming Fujifilm X-E3 (it beats IBIS, weather sealing, touch screen and more).

And also for me personally, the lack of a Joystick would have been a 100% dealbreaker. So great to know the Fujifilm X-E3 will have one.

have a AWESOME day :)

Fujifilm X-E3 Will Have Bluetooth

Fujifilm X-E3

Just yesterday I shared here, that a trusted source told us the Fujifilm X-E3 will have “some new technologies not previously seen on any of the other Fujifilm cameras”.

Well, I can now tell you that one of these new features will be bluetooth.

In the comments to yesterday’s rumor I saw many of you speculating it could be IBIS. I have no rumors about it, but frankly, I’d be very surprised if it had in body image stabilization. So my personal guess is that it won’t have IBIS.

I’m trying to figure out what the others are (and to understand if they are hardware or firmware based), so if there is anyone out there, who can help me, feel free to contact me at fujirumor@gmail.com (use a fake email account if you want) , via personal message on Facebook and Twitter or you can go the 100% anonymous route and share by using the rumor box (in this case, it would help me if you would give yourself a nick-name).

have a Great Day!

Fujifilm X-T2 Successor to be Called Fujifilm X-T2S – UPDATE: Changed to X-H1

Fujifilm X-T2s - the Successor of the Fujifilm X-T2
Fujifilm X-T2s – the Successor of the Fujifilm X-T2

Fujifilm X-T2s

UPDATE: Fujifilm changed the name from X-T2s to X-H1. All rumored specs remain the same

Ok guys… here is another nice rumor for you.

I would like to inform you that the successor of the Fujifilm X-T2 will be called Fujifilm X-T2s .

At this point, some of you might remember, when I once said that Fujifilm will release an X-Pro1s, which evidently never materialized. Fujifilm even had working prototypes of it, as they officially showed here, but then they scratched the concept in the last second, skipped it, and waited for the X-Pro2 to be ready.

At this stage, though, I don’t think the X-T2s will have the same fate of the X-Pro1s. Fujifilm seems very convinced of the project, and this makes me very confident to share it here on FujiRumors.

Now, I like to imagine many of you guys somewhere on holidays, relaxing with a beer on a beach or admiring a great panorama from the top of a mountain. And I really do not want to disturb you too much.

But I have the feeling that it could be worth to tune into FujiRumors now and then also from your holidays in the next couple of weeks. Sure, I’m aware that no rumor on earth can beat a good beer on the beach, but I’m working hard to try to give you a little fun time also here on FujiRumors ;) .

Fujifilm X-E3: No Tilt Screen (Poll – Dealbreaker?)

Ok… despite knowing that Fujifilm can change plans rather quickly, I feel pretty confident to announce, that the Fujifilm X-E3 will not have a tilt screen.

So, Fujifilm remains loyal to their philosophy to keep the tilt screen out of their rangefinder styled cameras.

My tilt-experience?

I might use the tilt-screen on my Fujifilm X-T1 maybe only in 5% of the images I take, but in those 5% tilting the screen makes my life a lot easier. So overall a tilt screen on the X-E3 would be something “nice to have” for me.

Based on the feedback of you guys in previous X-E3 rumors, and especially based on Jano’s huge work and X-E3 poll here , there are other (more or less) “nice to have” features… and of course some won’t be part of the Fujifilm X-E3:

  • dual UHS-II SD-card slot
  • weather sealing
  • 4K video
  • tilt screen
  • touch screen
  • AF-C Custom Settings presets
  • Bigger EVF
  • Dual-function ISO Dial
  • Joystick
  • Front Command Dial
  • IBIS

Jano has already made a brilliant work with his X-E3 polls, so all you have to do is to check out this article, where he shares the detailed X-E3 statistics as well as his evaluation of the results.

Here on FR today, we will only quickly focus on the tilt screen. Would the lack of it be a dealbreaker for you? Feel free to vote the poll below.

Sony Vs. Fuji

  • Sony A7sii vs Fujifilm X-T2 for video review at Maru Films youtube. Yep, the Sony has IBIS, but the reviewer is considering to go for Fuji anyway. The colors, the overall size and more convince him that Fujifilm X-T2 is the better choice.

Fujifilm X-E3 Poll Results

Guest Post by FXF member Jano

Dear fellow Fuji shooters,

thanks a lot for your participation in the poll that I created! Thank you also for all the encouraging comments I got. Thank you Patrick for publishing it on FujiRumors and thereby allowing the poll to reach 2,000 people who took the time to participate. I’m sorry that it took so long to publish the results. The idiotic way that Google Forms formats the data cost me a lot of time and my sons were sick a lot lately so I got way less time to work on it than I had hoped. And when I was almost done my computer broke and it took me even more time to get it back up and running. Great…

To begin let me address some criticism I received.

Fujifilm Announces Development of World’s fastest Organic CMOS Circuit For Multi-bit flexible Temperature Sensor

Fujifilm just published a press-release about world’s fastest organic CMOS circuit. They say they made “great strides towards mass production for a wide range of applications“.

I’m not sure if “wide range of applications” includes also digital cameras. The press release says something about “smart devices” – “high-speed organic CMOS [that allows to] build sophisticated integrated circuits using more than a few thousand transistors and enable direct communication between the temperature management electronic tag and the smart device”.

It also says that “digital signal processing with a large amount of data becomes possible“.

Fujifilm also talks about “temperature management“, which eventually might indicate that they could have fixed the overheating issue (if this press-release is really about the mythical organic sensor).

The press release is google translated, so if there is any Japanese speaking FR-reader willing to help to translate it better, feel free to share it in the comments.

But before I share the press-release (you can see it below – click READ MORE), here is a short organic sensor recap:

  • June 2013: Fujifilm and Panasonic announced the organic sensor development
  • June 2013: X-guru Rico Pfirstinger expected “actual digital cameras to feature this sensor design within 18-24 months from now”
  • December 2014: Our sources told us here, that there is a crucial problem to be solved with the organic sensor: heat generation (and battery drain)
  • December 2014: Top Fujifilm Managers confirmed, that the organic sensor is “still well ahead of us.”
  • October 2015: 43rumors broke the rumor here, that it will still take a 2 or 3 years before the organic sensor will be ready for mass production.
  • February 2016: Panasonic announced that, along with Fujifilm, they are developing an organic sensor with global shutter and impressive 123dB (!!!) dynamic range.
  • February 2016: Fujifilm managment says: “We don’t have any specific plans of incorporating an organic sensor into our products at the moment, but yes we are observing the progress of this technology. As of today, there would be No benefits to using an organic sensor. Our X-Trans III sensor is superior to the currently available organic sensor.”
  • March 2016: a source told us in March 2016 here, that the Global Shutter should find its way in the first cameras in 2018. But note that the source only said something about the global shutter, and not about the organic sensor.
  • February 2017: Panasonic announces the world’s first organic CMOS image sensor with electrically controllable near-infrared light sensitivity. However, unlike in previous press-releases, this time Fujifilm isn’t mentioned.

T. Northrup Reviews Fujifilm X-T2 Vs. Sony A6300, A7RII, GH4 and 5DS-R :: “Best MILC for Action We Have Ever Used!”

Tony Northrup’s review is online now on his youtube channel here. Among the others he says:

  • ACTION: X-T2 Best Mirrorless camera they have ever tested for Sports
  • Controls are brilliant
  • sadly no touch screen
  • X-T2 is their favorite travel camera
  • WiFi app needs improvemets
  • battery life not great
  • no IBIS
  • RAW and JPEG Image Quality is on par with Nikon and Sony APS-C cameras, but twice as much noise as FF cameras
  • not great for portraits, because Eye detection works not as reliable as the Sony eye detection. Better use the joystick on the X-T2
  • dual memory card slot
  • The X-T2 with Fujinon 50-140mm is sharper than the Canon 70-200 on the 50MP Canon 5DS-R
  • Canon/Nikon: wider variety of less exensive and high quality lenses
  • Very good Video camera
