Fujifilm X-E3 Shipping and In Stock at AmazonUS + First Impressions Reviews

The Fujifilm X-E3 started shipping yesterday, and today the first stores already have it officially in stock.

In fact, you can now find various combos, from body only to kit lens, available at AmazonUS via third party sellers like Cardinal Camera and Video Center, which is an authorized Fujifilm dealer.

If you buy at Amazon marketplace, I STRONGLY recommend to buy only those X-E3 cameras, that are offered by authorized Fujifilm dealers. To see the full list of official Fuji dealers, check out the updated list of authorized sellers here.

READER QUESTIONS: I was asked via email and facebook, which is the best lens to combine with the Fujiflm X-E3, and IMHO, the X-E3 is made to be paired with either the XF27mm or XF18mm, to give it the most compact size possible… even more compact than the X100F!

As to expect, we now also have the first customer reviews hitting the web.

Fujifilm X-E3: Samples, First Impressions and Shipping Starts This Week

The first Fujifilm X-E3 are now in the warehouses waiting to be shipped starting from September 28.

So here is a dedicated X-E3 roundup… and let’s start it with feedback we got from the Fujifilm X-E facebook group:

Fujifilm X-E3: USA: BHphoto, Adorama, AmazonUS, FocusCamera with free 64GB SD-card EU: AmazonDE, AmazonUK, WexUK, PCHstore

Matthew here:
1) It’s shipping to dealers in Canada on Monday. Stores should have it available by Friday or Monday at the latest.
2) It looks and feels smaller than any photo I’ve seen of it, including this phone shot I took.
3) It is ***THE*** street photography camera to beat now as far as I’m concerned. Totally discreet, quiet (or silent with the ES of course).
4) Some of the features will involve a small learning curve, but they are really impressive and well thought out.
5) Any existing thumb-up grip will probably block access to a couple of buttons, but the grip is comfortable without one.
6) It’s a matter of taste, but I think the black one is a lot better looking than the silver.
7) Haven’t seen the IQ on the computer yet but it looks great in the screen.

Bill here:
Just played around a bit with the X-E3 at the local store. I didn’t get to try a lot of things but I looked it over, looked through the menus, took a few shots (no card), and just tried to get a feel for how it feels in the hand. Unfortunately it had the 18-55 kit lens on it which is a fine lens but didn’t really let me get a sense of how compact the camera will be to carry around with one of Fuji’s wonderful f2 lenses, or maybe the 18 or 27. The body felt comfortable to hold, but I wish they had a different lens on it.
Two small quibbles. Although the build quality seemed pretty good overall, the speed and EV dials felt rather cheaply made, rather rough and not cleanly machined like on the X100F. For what it’s worth, I later looked at the XT-20 and it seemed to have the same kind of dials. Both of those cameras were the silver ones. I’m sure there’s nothing wrong with them. I’m probably just used to the attention paid to final finishing on the cameras made in Japan. The other thing was that the focus was rather sluggish with the kit lens. It didn’t hunt and found focus quickly once it started the process, but there was a definite delay between the time I half pressed the shutter, or touched the screen, and the time it began focusing. I’m going to assume that the focus will be much faster with the newer lenses. In any case, I’ll find out on Thursday.

Answering to readers emails

Today’s roundup is dedicated to Fujifilm’s all time best seller, the Fujifilm X-T2. And it seems that it is making many people happy, as you can see in the links below.

And to those, who ask me if they should wait for the X-T2 successor, maybe the rumored X-T2S or even the Fujifilm X-T3, I can only say that once a replacement will be out, the X-T2 won’t become a worse camera. Actually probably even better, thanks to Fuji’s Kaizen support. So why wait… get it, and enjoy it :)

What’s Next from Fujifilm? Big 2017 / 2018 Rumor Overview and Check

Ok guys… after the major announcement a few days ago, it’s time to see what is left, and what was correct (or not).

but first….

Huge Thanks!

Fujirumors is not only a great source for Fujifilm to get feedback about their products and early feedback thanks to rumors, but also a place that keeps the whole community excited and informed. And none of this would be possible without everybody, who helped me with the rumors and the news. Huge thanks to all of you for guiding me safly through the stormy Fuji waters.

The Facts

  • 670 blog post published so far in 2017
  • 84 rumors shared in 2017
  • 14 rumors still to be verified (and 1 out of ranking)
  • 65 correct rumors out of 69 verifiable rumors
  • 4 wrong rumors out of 69 verifiable rumors
  • 94% correct rumors

What To Expect From Fujifilm…
… and 2 Notes

The Ultimate Fuji X: I know that this camera was in Fuji’s plans, and I know they scrapped it in favor or the Fujifilm X-T2S (which is basically an “ultimate X light”). However, I decided to already move the ultimate X rumors in the wrong rumor section, because I need a public statement of Fujifilm that such plans existed to share it as a correct rumor (as it happened with the X-Pro1s)… and also because otherwise the wrong rumor section would have been empty :)

Fujinon 33mmF1: In January, I reported that the 33/1 has been scrapped. As a consequence, I launched a huge lens request poll, where the 33/1 became the most voted prime lens by the FR-community. The results might have convinced Fujifilm to think about it again, as a rumor recently suggested. Hence you will find 2 rumors down below… the one that says the 33/1 has been canceled, and the one that says there is a little bit hope again.

HIGH RATING*
* 75% to 99% correct

Fujifilm Big Announcement at 02:00 AM New York Time (08:00 Berlin Time)

Hm… I must admit, after an extremely busy summer with 170 articles and rumors written in the last 68 days (as well as thousands of emails), I feel just a little bit worn out ;) .

But don’t worry, a dangerous mix of excitement and coffee is pushing me towards the grand final, on September 7, when we will officially see…

  • Fujifilm X-E3
  • Fujinon XF 80mm F2.8 Macro
  • Fujinon GF 45mm F2.8
  • new lens roadmaps
  • new firmware updates

I don’t expect more, but hey, it’s Fujifilm, so surprises are still possible… with the X-T2S high on the “surprise list”.

However, I owe you still the time, so here it is:

Fujifilm will announce it all at 02:00 AM New York time (08:00 AM Berlin Time).

Fujifilm X-H1 IBIS Will NOT Have Sensor Shift Multishot Feature

Fujifilm X-T2S… No Sensor Shift Multishot

UPDATE: Fujifilm changed the name from X-T2s to X-H1. All rumored specs remain the same

Hey folks,

I have a quick update regarding the Fujifilm X-T2S, Fujifilm first camera with IBIS (in body image stabilization).

I hear it will not have the “Sensor Shift Multishot” feature, present in cameras like the Olympus OM-D E-M5 II.

What is it?

You basically press the shutter 1 time, but the camera takes multiple images by slightly moving the sensor and combining those exposures to create one high-resolution image.

With this technology, the Olympus EM-5 can take 40MP images with its 16MP sensor. Keep in mind that it works properly only if your subject stands perfectly still.

Fujifilm’s First Steps into IBIS

Recently, thanks to this interesting video by Demos Soupashis, we wondered: do we need already an X-T2S with IBIS? Wouldn’t it be better to wait a bit longer, and offer IBIS on the X-T3, which should be overall a much more upgraded product (new sensor etc)?

Well, I have to agree with some of you guys, like azbest and Didiergm, when you say here:

Engineers need time to learn & try; The first IBIS implementation might not be perfect or might not push the technology to it’s limits as these things take time

The X-T2S will be Fuji’s first step into the world of IBIS (well, actually it’s this Fujifilm camera already), and if we want a mature and top notch IBIS system on the Fujifilm X-T3, then Fujifilm has to launch it now on the X-T2S and gather experience from it, improve it, learn.

And one thing Fujifilm can not offer, at least for the start, is the sensor shift multishot technology.

Will sensor shift maybe come one day via firmware update to the X-T2S? Will it come with the X-T3? Or it simply can’t be done with (current?) X-Trans sensors? Questions, I’ll try to answer you as soon as possible.

stay tuned… more is coming :)

Japanese Rumors Confirm Fujifilm X-E3, XF80mm and GF45mm… Whatever Happens Sep.7, Follow FR, and Be the FIRST to Know it :)

The Japanese rumor site nokishita confirmed on Twitter here, that “next week” Fujifilm will launch:

  • Fujifilm X-E3
  • Fujinon GF 45mm
  • Fujinon XF80mm Macro

But I have strong indications that, on the same day, Fujifilm will also:

  • update the lens roadmap
  • announce/release new Kaizen Firmware updates

That’s what we can expect for sure.

Will there be also the X-T2S? Or the X80? Nothing is impossible, but for now I prefer to be careful, and to tell you not to expect more.

September 7… that’s the day… my Mokka will run non stop, and, high on caffeine, I will deliver you guys an exciting live blogging.

Whatever happens… follow Fujirumors, and you will be the first to know it ;) .

Why People Switch from Canon to Fujifilm :: Fujifilm Vs. Canon, Nikon and Sony :: 6 Points to Consider When Switching to Mirrorless

Switching To Fuji

Today’s mixed zone is focused on switch stories and comparisons. And especially it’s about switching from Canon to Fujifilm. And really very often, people, who make the move to Fuji, don’t look back and don’t regret.

But of course on FujiRumors we feature also those, who tried Fuji and then switched back to DSLRs… and actually I dedicated them a special roundup recently here. But to be honest, I don’t find that many out there, who switch back.

Facebook Groups

Fujifilm Vision 2019: “We Work Toward Capturing No.1 Market Share in Premium Mirrorless Market” (Medium-Term Plan VISION2019)

Wow… now that’s an ambitious goal.

Fujifilm just published their new medium-term management plan, called VISION2019, covering a three year period from the fiscal year ending March 2018 (FY2018/3) to the fiscal year ending March 2020 (FY2020/3.).

And regarding their imaging division they write:

  • In digital cameras, work toward capturing No.1 market share in the premium mirrorless camera market, promoting the X Series that continues to evolve with outstanding image quality, fast speed and mobility, alongside the medium-format GFX Series that uses a large sensor, 1.7 times bigger than that of full-frame cameras, to pursue the pinnacle of image quality.
  • Reinforce the lineup of its highly reputable interchangeable lenses to continue to achieve increased revenues and profits in the mirrorless system business as a whole.
  • Broaden the lens business by expanding the lineup of 4K broadcast lenses, launched ahead of the rest of the world, as well as the lineup of lenses for the fast-growing new video production market, including online video.
  • With regard to the “INSTAX” instant camera and film, expand the sales of existing products and promote its square-format products for greater proliferation. Expand printing service solutions with added convenience, e.g. incorporating AI, to boost printing demand from smartphones to maintain the upward trend in profits.
  • FY2020/3 targets: 380 billion yen in revenues, 45 billion yen in operating income and 11.8% in operating income ratio

The competition is obviously very strong, especially from Sony, who are dominating, as we can also see from the AmazonUS mirrorless bestseller charts. But it’s good to see Fujifilm so confident about their present and future products, such as the sensor stabilizied Fujifilm X-T2S and of course the Fujifilm GFX 100S.

And you know what would sound really PREMIUM, too? That XF33mmF1.0!

Now, I want you to get quickly to the comments down below, so I won’t copy & paste the entire long press release here on FujiRumors. But if you want to read more, also about the medical, documents & co solutions and goals, check out the Fujifilm page here.
