Fujifilm Patent Shows Compact Camera with Dual Rear Command Dials for Digital Dials Control

Share

I stumbled on a Fujifilm patent, that shows a compact camera with dual rear dials that operate synchronized to a top LCD panel.

This reminds us at the Fujifilm GFX100 fake dials, with the difference that this time we have 2 rear command dials that can be assigned to operate different camera functions, which then will be displayed in form of fake dials on the top LCD screen.

It looks like Fujifilm is continuing to develop a hybrid analog/digital solution, in an attempt to melt the best of both worlds into one user interface.

In this case, virtual dials could allow for a smaller camera design. Who knows, maybe something for a Fujifilm X80, if something like that will ever hit the market.

Fujifilm GFX 100 Reviews and Change Your Factory Default Menu Settings

Share

Nick Schreger has published a video, showing a couple of Fujifilm GFX100 factory settings that, according to him, don’t always make much sense, and he recommends you to change them.

The video is in German, so down below his setting advices in English.

  • change FINE to RAW+SUPER FINE
  • change UNCOMPRESSED RAW to COMPRESSED RAW
  • change sRGB to Adobe RGB
  • enable FOCUS PEAKING
  • set INSTANT AF SETTING to AF-C (so you have AF-S with single press and AF-C if you keep pressed)
  • set shutter type to MECHANICAL SHUTTER only
  • If you work with flash in dark studio, deactivate Preview exp/wb in manual mode
  • set NATURAL LIVE VIEW to ON
  • Activate histogram and live view highlight alert
  • Set Shoot without Card to OFF
  • set AUTO POWER OFF to 5 minutes (default is 2 minutes)
  • set high performance mode ON

Do you agree with this list? And which changes did you make to your Fujifilm default menu settings?

Top 3 Loves and Hates of Shooting Fujifilm X-T1 in 2019 compared to Fujifilm X-E3

Share

It’s summer, which means 2 full months of holidays from my teaching job!

I have already passed 2 weeks with that annoying SonyAlphaRumors guy in beautiful Croatia. :)

However, I have no other travels planed, given that I married in May and must a little bit recover financially now (*).

So, together with my wife we decided to spend most of our summer just hiking on the mountains around my home. And frankly, I do not desire nor need more than this right now.

Sometimes we sleep on a mountain hut and enjoy the sunrises at high altitude (and with a bit of luck also meeting fellow Fujifilm shooters up there).

We might, though, make one short honeymoon city trip, maybe to Paris?

Ok, I hear you, come to the point! Camera comparison, NOW!

Well, since I bought the Fujifilm X-E3, I have basically never touched my trusty Fujifilm X-T1 anymore (which still holds the sceptre for taking my all time favorite image).

My wife kindly invited me to sell it, but the answer I could give her was no other than this one :).

So, to justify the fact that I still own the X-T1, I took it out for a recent mountain hike, put it into my Camslinger bag, and shot again a whole day with it.

It was like rediscovering the Fujifilm X-T1, and here are 3 things I loved and hated about shooting with it again.
