FUJIFILM USA Currently has No Plans to Sell Brown X-E3 and X100F. Fujifilm X-T100 Brown Color in Asia

Fujifilm Camera Colors

Back in February, we told you that Fujifilm had plans to launch a brown X100F. And indeed, starting from May, the brown Fujifilm X100F started to appear at stores all over the world.

Then, in June, here on FR we also broke the news about the brown Fujifilm X-E3, which today is available in many markets.

Everybody was expecting these two color configurations to sell soon also in USA, especially since they are available in Canada already, but it seems we were wrong.

According to our sources, Fujifilm USA has currently no plans to sell the brown Fujifilm X100F and brown Fujifilm X-E3 in USA.

If those colors will turn out to be very popular, then Fujifilm USA might decide to introduce them to the US market, too. But at this point, Fujifilm USA is not interested.

Fujifilm X-T100 Colors

Wow, I got some very excited emails this morning, telling me that also the Fujifilm X-T100 is now available in dark silver.

But guys, the dark silver X-T100 is available since May 24, 2018, the day the Fujifilm X-T100 was launched. :)

If you missed this and other X-T100 information, you better check back our X-T100 live blogging.

What you can find, though, is the brown X-T100 here, as spotted and shared with us by FR-reader imagei here. The brown X-T100 is only available in Asia, and it remains to see if it will be sold also in Europe and North America.

Overall Asia seems very color friendly, when it comes to offer Fuji cameras in different vests. We reported yesterday that there is a graphite X-A5 in Asia, and it is available in Europe too.

Fujifilm X-Trans Vs. Bayer: Pros and Cons of Going Bayer or Sticking with X-Trans Sensor

X-Trans Vs. Bayer

First and foremost, let me say that I LOVE X-TRANS.

But the fact that I love X-Trans, does not prevent me from discussing the big Bayer Vs. X-Trans debate, that has recently been fueled again by DPReviewTV in the X-T100 review and Tony Northrup in his X-H1 review, in the most objective way as possible.

So today’s question is: is there any reason why Fujifilm should go Bayer also on higher end APS-C Fujifilm X-series cameras?

WARNING

Some people do probably not have the 5 minutes of time it needs to read this article. They will read the headline, and arguing in favor or against X-Trans/Bayer by default :) .

So for those people, who refuse to read the article and don’t go beyond the headline, I will at least make a bullet-point list, in the hope they will read that one at least.

This is a super short condensation and simplification of more complicated subjects, and as such it is naturally an inaccurate list. Each point will elaborated and clarified in all its shades below.

X-Trans Pros

  • less color noise at high ISO
  • less moiré (an advantage that will become negligible once APS-C sensor go beyond 30MP)
  • sharper compared to cameras with same pixel number and optical low pass filter, unless the processing in camera is very aggressive, like on X-A5 and X-T100
  • more pleasing “film-like” grain at high ISO

Bayer Pros

  • 20%-30% less processing power required (possible benefits listed below)
  • cheaper to produce than X-Trans

Brutally short conclusion:

  • X-Trans is better for image quality
  • Bayer is better for features and speed, unless Fujifilm can compensate for the extra 20-30% processing power required by the X-Trans sensor with a more powerful processor (present in Fujifilm X-T3), new sensor tech for faster sensor readout (maybe stacked sensor) and better heat management (present in X-H1)

If you want, you can now start your 5 minutes reading time :)

BREAKING: New Fujifilm Lens Roadmap to be Announced in July

Fujifilm Lens Roadmap Updates

Just a few days ago, we told you that the XF8-16 and XF200 will be announced in July.

Well, according to our trusted sources that’s not all Fujifilm will give us in July.

In fact, I have it now confirmed, that Fujifilm is going to release an updated lens roadmap, too.

*** REMINDER: 100% confirmed XF10 announcement on July 19 ***

Now, do you remember when back in February 2017 I asked you which lenses you would like next from Fujifilm?

Well, here is what happened after I asked you suggestions:

  • over 900 of you guys dropped a couple of thousands of suggestions in the comments – see here
  • I segregated myself in my room for a couple of days, read all your suggestions for countless hours and finally summed them all up into 30 lenses – see here
  • 15,000 (!!!!) of you voted in just a few days, and the results can been seen here

So we ended up with out top 6 lenses overall, as well as the top 3 primes and top 3 zooms.

It was a terrific work not only for me, but also for you guys, since you invested lots of time to discuss, recommend, argue, in order to help me to make the best list possible.

And now all we can do is hope… hope that Fujifilm listens.

So which are actually the most wanted lenses by the Fujifilm community? The answer is… here!

Huge things are happening soon… very soon… make sure follow us on Facebook, RSS-feed, Instagram, Youtube and Twitter to stay up to date.

Fujifilm Manager: “Medium Format Fujifilm GFX Much Better than Full Frame. We Work hard to Release XF 8-16 This Year”

Fujifilm Manager Interview

The Thai youtube channel กล้องกล้วยกล้วย had a talk with Fujifilm manager Mr.Udono. It’s a 40 minutes talk in Thai and English, so you have to listen to the Thai question, than the English translation of the question, then the English answer of the manager, and then again the Thai translation of the Manager’s answer.

Too cumbersome?

Well, then you are lucky to read FujiRumors… because since we love you guys, we decided you should not suffer and waste your precious time. So I listened it all for you and here are the managers’ answers in English.

You are welcome :).

Fujifilm X-T20 with XC 15-45mm Pre-order Available and Shipping June 18

New Kit on the Shop

It had to happen sooner or later, and now it did: Fujifilm is offering the new XC 15-45mm PZ OIS zoom as a kit lens not only for its entry level Fujifilm X-A5 and Fujifilm X-T100, but starting from today also for the Fujifilm X-T20.

You can pre-order your kit today and it will ship on June 18.

We already reported that Fujifilm removed the XC 16-50mm MKII from their complete X series guide, which is very likely an indication that it is (or will be soon) discontinued. However, there is still the X-T20 with XC16-50 in stock and even up to $430 off (depending on the bundle) at the time of this post.

DPReviewTV Fujifilm X-T100 Review

Fujifilm X-T100 Review

Chris and Jordan from DRPreview TV reviewed the Fujifilm X-T100 (with final firmware).  Here is what they think about the X-T100:

  • smart LCD articulation system with benefit that you can do vertical shooting without having to flip the screen out all to the side
  • no ACROS
  • awesome graphic interface and simplified menu
  • champagne gold looks good
  • rear dial is in a weired position
  • he would like to be able to customize more buttons
  • touch screen is laggy
  • XC15-45 very plastic feel, but focusses smooth and performs fairly well
  • better autofoucs than X-A5
  • X-Trans made sense in the past with older sensor, when there was an issue with moire, and X-Trans gave less moiree and sharper images. But nowadays X-Trans does not have the same advantages it had in the past
  • terrible record button
  • well constructed and it doesn’t feel cheap
  • Canon EOS M50 is closest competitor. X-T100 is better choice, feel nicer, looks nicer, and better lens selection

Thoughts

The Fujifilm X-T100 delivers a lot for small price. I can definitely see this camera becoming a huge success. If you own a flagship X-Trans camera (X-T2 &. Co) and are looking for a back-up camera, my biggest and only concern would be the post production workflow, since the X-T100 features a Bayer sensor camera and maybe you guys are better off with an X-Trans X-T20 or X-E3. However, Jonas Rask says in his first look “if you’re used to dealing with X-Trans, this sensor won’t give you the need to redefine your workflow.”

The X-T100 is a perfect first camera for people, who want to step up from smartphone photography or for people from other systems, who want to make the first steps into the X-system, but keep the Bayer CFA they are used to, with a well rounded and very affordable X series camera.

Fujifilm X-T100 Body Only Listed between $550 and $600 at Adorama

Fujifilm X-T100

The Fujifilm X-T100 will be announced in a few hours, and Adorama has already prepared its system to take pre-orders.

They didn’t upload the images or the full specs, but they have the various option listed and selectable (colors, body only or kit lens etc).

In fact, if you search for “Fujifilm X-T100” you get a total 7 results.

If you then select the price range between $500 – $750, you get 4 results.

  • Body Only listed between $550 to $600 (1 result)
  • Body + XC15-45 listed between $650 to $700 (3 results)

If these prices are confirmed, then I think the X-T100 is very well priced.

Consider that the X-T20 body only costs $899 (currently discounted to $799), while the Fujiflm X-A5 with XC 15-45 costs $600.

FujiRumors will be ready for a LIVE BLOGGING so make sure to follow us on Facebook, RSS-feed and Twitter.

Fujifilm X-T100: Do We Really Need it and Will You Buy it? See the FULL SPECS and VOTE the POLL

Fujifilm X-T100 – Do We Need It?

Earlier today the full specs of the Fujifilm X-T100 leaked at FujifilmEU… and they confirm all the rumors that we have shared since we started the X-T100 rumor marathon in September 2017:

According to rumors shared exclusively for you here on FujiRumors, the announcement is set for May 24.

Now the question is: does the Fujifilm X-T100 makes sense to you?

Fuji’s idea is clear: the Fujifilm X-T100 will close the gap between the EVF-less Fujifilm X-A5 and Fuji’s mid-range X-Trans Fujifilm X-T20 and compete with cameras like the Olympus OM-D E-M10 Mark II and the Sony A6000

Since it has an EVF (first APS-C Bayer X-series camera to have it), it could potentially attract those enthusiast photographers, who are attracted by the X-system, but are scared by the fake myths surrounding the X-Trans sensor (personally I am an X-Trans fan).

I think that most of you guys reading this blog, won’t care much about the Fujifilm X-T100. But just like the X-A5, I think also the X-T100 could find a huge fellowship. To me, it is a good move by Fujifilm, although personally I’d go for the X-T20 over the X-T100.

If you find yourself bored after you…

  • had dinner
  • your kids went sleeping
  • your better half is out for an evening with friends
  • your favorite TV show ended
  • you finished cleaning the windows of your apartment

… then you are invited to join our live blogging on May 24 and to follow us on Facebook, RSS-feed, Twitter.

It won’t be the most epic of all announcements, but there are some things that might still be interesting and indicate some future features also of high-end Fuji cameras, like the “newly designed 3-way tilt screen”. And then, who knows… maybe there will be some big surprises too :) .

In any case you can count on me: I am 100% focussed and ready for a non stop live blogging… no matter what comes.

FUJIFILM Financial Results for Fiscal Year 2017 – Imaging Solution Significantly Increased

Fujifilm just published the financial results for the fiscal year 2017, which ended May 31, 2018.

It’s again a triumph for Instax products, a market dominated by Fujifilm (a triumph that came quite luckily, as we reported here), but also the X and GFX series seem to do well.

  • In the Imaging Solutions segment, consolidated revenue amounted to ¥383.0 billion (up 12.1% from the previous fiscal year), due to the significant sales increase in the electronic imaging field of the optical device and electronic imaging business. Consolidated operating income amounted to ¥56.0 billion (up 52.0% from the previous fiscal year), due to the improvement of profitability in each business.

In the Earning Presentation Transcipt Fujifilm writes:
