YES, WE CAN! Wedding Photography with Fujifilm – What’s in Fuji X Shooters Wedding Bags, Setting Tips and More

Share

Believe it or not, Fujifilm is used for all kind of professional work.

And it seems photographers love to use Fujifilm also for weddings.

Even 9 year old Regina shot a full wedding on an X-T1 and, unlike someone else, she seems to have no problems to move the focus point :) .

So it happens that Fujifilm gear finds its way into the bags of many wedding photographers – I even met a wedding X shooter casually while cycling around my mountains.

So today I decided to share a roundup dedicated to which Fujifilm gear (and bags/flashes etc) photographers carry in their wedding-bag, as well as the settings they use and some more curiosities.

Fujifilm Instax SQUARE SQ6 Taylor Swift Edition. And now PLEASE and INSTAX WIDE PRINTER!!!

Share

Fujifilm launched the limited Taylor Swift Instax SQ6 Edition as well as the dedicated Taylor Swift Square Film.

Ok Fuji… that’s fine. It might sell better than all Fujifilm X cameras combined, and Taylor Swift makes some easy money, so everybody is happy.

Next time invest $27 of your R&D to develop a Instax Wide Printer. I will be the first to buy it, and I am sure many other X-shooters too. Frankly for me it’s still a mistery, why you haven’t done it already. Guys please help me to Spam Fujifilm with this request.

Fujifilm X-T3 vs Nikon Z6 vs Z7 vs Fujifilm GFX 50R vs 50S vs X-H1 vs X-T2 – The Complete SPECS & SIZE Comparison

Share

Fujifilm Vs. Nikon Mirrorless

The Nikon Z6 and Nikon Z7 have been announced and are now available for pre-order.

So how do Nikon’s new mirrorless cameras compare to Fujifilm’s offering?

Well, I have created a comprehensive specs comparison, and included also the Fujifilm X-T3 and Fujifilm GFX 50R to the list.

While we know a lot about the Fujifilm X-T3 and I can already insert lots of specs in the list, we know not so much about the GFX 50R. However, it should have about the same specs of the GFX 50S, just in another form factor (rangefinder) and for a much cheaper price. So there won’t be big surprises with the GFX 50R.

Both Nikon’s are surely very good cameras. There are many specs to love, but also some, that might not really incentivize Nikon DSLR shooters to switch to Nikon mirrorless Z6 or Z7.

In fact, both cameras have:

  • only 1 XQD card slot (might be a dealbreaker for Pros)
  • battery life is around 310/330 shots (welcome to mirrorless, Nikon)
  • there is no eye-detection AF (let’s hope it comes via firmware update)

But as said, Nikon did lots of other things right. Check out the Nikon Z6 specs at BH and Nikon Z7 specs at BH.

Down below you can find the complete Nikon Z6/7 Vs. Fujifilm X-T3, X-T2, X-H1, GFX 50R and GFX50S comparison. If you prefer, download the PDF comparison file form our dropbox.

Also, Camerasize has now the Nikon Z6 and Nikon Z7 in their database. You can compare it to all the cameras you want at camerasize here. The Fujifilm GFX 50S vs Nikon Z comparisons can be found at photosku.

Fujifilm X-T3 has BSI Sensor (but not Stacked) for Improved Dynamic Range. A Good News? – POLL

Share

Fujifilm X-T3 Sensor

A trusted source has sent us some important updates regarding the Fujifilm X-T3 sensor specifications.

  • BSI Sensor

It is 100% sure that the Fujifilm X-T3 will feature a backside-illuminated sensor (BSI).

BSI sensors improve dynamic range.

The smaller the sensor, the more BSI influences positively dynamic range (via to ephotozine and dslrbodies).

Other advantages are lower noise (via sony.com), more flexibility for lens design (especially wide angle lenses) since it improves corner tendencies such as color shift, vignetting (via wikipedia and dslrbodies) and it allows faster readout rates (via wikipedia).

  • No Stacked Sensor

Trusted sources told us, that the Fujifilm X-T3 won’t have a stacked sensor (stacked sensors allow faster sensor readout).

But what sounds like a bad news, could actually be a good one.

In fact, Sony’s current stacked sensor technology (available in Sony A9) has at least 2 trade-off

  • less dynamic range
  • much more expensive

The stacked sensor in the Sony A9 is not ISO-less (or not ISO-invariant), and according to dpreview, the Sony A9 delivers “more speed, but less dynamic rage” than any other Sony FF mirrorless camera (via dpreview A9 ISO testdpreview A9 test).

We know the X-T3 shoots 11 fps with mechanical shutter, and I guess that 11 images in 1 second should be enough for most of us to capture “the decisive moment“. However, given the new sensor/processor combo, I think it’s safe to assume the X-T3 will have less rolling shutter than any other Fujifilm camera.

  • No Compromise in Image Quality + Huge Speed Boost

To me, it seems Fujifilm decided to go for the best image quality possible.

Hence, they might have decided to avoid any kind of technology, that potentially influences negatively image quality, such as stacked sensors and, according to Panasonic, also IBIS.

Also add to this that:

  • Fujifilm added only 2 MP to the current sensor (from 24 MP to 26MP), probably to preserve a good high ISO performance
  • X-T3 has base ISO 160 (other Fuji X-Trans cameras ISO 200)
  • X-T3 much more modern sensor

All this could add up at the end, and give us a nice improvement. But of course only real life tests will show.

But don’t worry. The combination between new sensor and new processor on the X-T3, will give you a very fast camera anyway.

Stacked Sensor or No Stacked sensor?
