TIPA AWARDS 2021: Awards for Fujifilm, Sony, Canon, Nikon, Sigma, Panasonic, Pentax, Tamron, Laowa and More

TIPA has worked very hard and made a brutal selection, in which only the very best of the crème de la crème of the top of the top could win their extremely prestigious TIPA award.

Or in other words: camera companies paid again a lot of money to win meaningless awards.

And in order to make it even easier for companies to win (and hence make more money by selling award licenses), they created tons of categories, such as “expert”, “advanced” and “professional”.

Now to the winners.

There is a Sensor, 70% FULLER than FULL FRAME and Here is Where it SHINES!

Promised!

There will be rumors, I tell you that!

We’ll talk about gear & specs. We will get mad at some, we will love others. But in any case, we are going to have fun.

And yet, that’s not how I’d like to start 2021 here on FujiRumors.

Nope, I’d like to start with an image roundup, because what I love most on my Fujifilm system, is not all the cameras and lenses that I have in my bag, but the images I was able to print big and put on my wall thanks to it.

And little it matters which gear you use, as long as it is fun to you.

May it be APS-C, full frame, or that sensor, that is actually 70% “fuller” or “bigger” than full frame and you find inside Fujifilm GFX cameras.

Every system has its strenghts, and the one of the Fujifilm GFX system is definitely portraits and landscape.

And that’s what we want to focus on today: the Fujifilm GFX.

You know, a new and amazing Fujifilm GFX100S is coming soon, so I thought we can give you guys a taste of its power, by sharing images fellow Fujifilm GFX shooters shared at our fantastic Fujifilm GFX group.

I hope you’ll enjoy the images as much as I did, and I wish you a fantastic weekend.

UPDATE: Fujifilm X-H1 / X-T3 Firmware Fixes Video Exposure Stepping

UPDATE: Fixed also on Fujifilm X-T3, according to more reports

Oh, I remember it all to well.

I was on a 2 weeks holiday with my wife in the South of Italy, when Fujifilm released a new firmware update for my Fujifilm X-T4.

Unhappy of the usual “fix of minor bugs” formula, I sacrificed a few hours of my relaxing holiday, and dedicated myself to find out, what had been fixed. Well, I noticed that Fujifilm secretly and quietly fixed the exposure stepping bug in video, and I immediacy told you about it in this article.

Now also 11 other X series cameras received a firmware update, but since I own “only” the X-T1, X-E3 and X-T4 I can’t really check what has been fixed on all cameras.

But luckily I am just a small part of the big FR community, and fellow FR-reader Unnamed for a reason contacted me, telling me that the exposure stepping seems to be fixed now also on his Fujifilm X-H1.

No more exposure stepping in either Auto ISO or Aperture priority. When setting the aperture to Auto, stepping still occurs in 1/3rd stops (which is also still the case with the X-T4).

On my personal X-E3, exposure stepping seems to be still present after the firmware update.

In addition to that, Unnamed for a reason says:

  • The wireless communication is much stronger and the camera can be paired at longer distances – Worked flawlessly standing 1-1.5 meters (3.2-4.9 feet) away from the camera.
  • There are new items in the flash menu. “MASTER SETTING” “CH SETTING”. I am certain these are meant to work in conjunction with the new Nissin rebranded Fujifilm EF-W1 commander unit and Fujifilm EF-60 flash. I attached a Godox XPRO-F and a TT685F unit to the camera, to see if they are compatible with the new functions, but as of now, these slots remain greyed out.

Thanks a lot for your feedback :)

Gear Talk Detox Corner: Enchanting and Inspiring Fujifilm APS-C Image Rounudp

There is something I can promise you: in terms of gear talk, we have exciting times ahead. Fujifilm ain’t sleeping ;).

But as exciting as it will be to talk rumors and specs, we should never forget that at the end of all this talk, there is one single goal: get the picture!

And little it matters, that the images down below have all been taken with Fujifilm X-T APS-C cameras and shared at our Fujifilm X-T facebook group.

Today it’s all about inspiration, motivation, ideas and art.

So, may this post motivate you to close that browser tab, where people discuss about the “zero-point-something” difference at 400% magnification between camera X and Y, grab your camera, and simply go out and take pictures.

Oh, and don’t forget:

… the by far fastest growing Fuji X community, is our Fujifilm film simulation group, where we showcase the unedited power of the much praised Fujifilm colors. Make sure to follow that group too, if you want to see what you can get right in camera.

Fujifilm Wins Four TIPA Awards with GFX100, X-Pro3, X100V and Instax Mini Link

Fantastic achievement for Fujifilm!

The TIPA Award is an extremely tough competition, where products are brutally tested by the best experts on the planet. Companies are eager to win the TIPA award, and sometimes they want to pay to get it, but the incorruptible and visionary team of TIPA experts, guided by the one and only goal to deliver the most unbiased and professional feedback to customers, does not bend to the will of multimillion dollar companies. They award only the most prestigious products ever!

Ok, now let’s get serious.

Lots of companies payed again lots of money to win a totally meaningless award. TIPA created as many categories as needed to make everybody happy (who paid). Hence you will find frankly ridiculous category differentiations, such as “best professional APS-C camera” (Fujifilm X-Pro3), “best expert APS-C camera” (Sony A6600) and “best advanced APS-C camera” (Nikon Z50). The whole point of these award commissions is to make money by selling award licenses, meaning the right for companies to use the award logo to promote their products.

All the truth, and how exactly these awards work, in this article.

What a pity… all that money Fujifilm could have spent in firmware updates!

Pergear 25mm F1.8 for Fujifilm X Mount

I have been contacted by Oliver from Pergear and main distributor of Zeapon, Viltrox, Godox, ZhiYun, FeiYu, Hohem, etc.

He informed me they launched the Pergear 25mm f/1.8 lens for Fujifilm X Mount.

The lens is now available at Amazon here.

  • 5 Elements in 3 Groups
  • Aperture Range: F/1.8 – F16
  • Ideal Aperture with 12 Diaphragm Blades
  • Full metal body, Compact and Lightweight, only 195g

This lens looks very similar to the Meike 25mm F/1.8 and Brightin Star 25mm F1.8.

I asked Oliver is this is just a rebranded version, and I will update this post as soon as I get reply.

UPDATE (thanks Mistral): The 7Artisans 25mm f/1.8, Meika MK 25mm f/1.8 and Brightin Star 25mm f/1.8 include 7 elements in 5 groups. This Pergear 25mm f/1.8 includes 5 elements in 3 groups. It’s a different lens.

Gear Talk Detox with These Fujifilm Images Roundup

Gear Talk Detox

Talking gear is nice and good, but using our gear is even more amazing ;).

I did try to remind this to myself, and hence, in the last few weeks, I have grabbed my X-E3 as often as I could and moved my a$$ up to the highest peaks, no matter how the weather was, to try to capture the beauty of my home.

And in fact, the shot I am most proud of lately, happened on such a cloudy day, that I was afraid my 4+ hours hike would be photographically speaking useless.

But despite the thick fog, I snapped my probably favorite image of this fall so far.

So I hope the images below inspire you to get out and shoot, too. The one shot you’ll be so happy with could just be out there, waiting for you.

And it doesn’t really matter, if all images shared down below come from our extremely prolific GFX user group. I just took them from the GFX group, because the last two image roundups all came from our explosive X-T group.
