FUJIFILM X RAW STUDIO enables users to convert RAW files with ease, offering exceptionally fast conversions. Due to the size of RAW files, photographers can often find batch conversion extremely time consuming. X RAW STUDIO utilizes the connected camera’s X-Processor Pro high-speed image processing engine, allowing for quick and effective conversion without compromising on image quality. Compatible with both Mac and PC systems, the new X RAW STUDIO enables batch conversion of a selection of images. Users can store conversion settings or copy settings between images, and variable image processing conditions can be adjusted in the same way as in-camera RAW conversion.

Fujifilm X RAW STUDIO Key Features:

  • Supports single or batch conversion for RAW images through a Mac or PC system.
  • Image processing settings can be adjusted like the in-camera RAW conversion.
    • All conversion parameters available through in-camera RAW conversion are adjustable, enabling photographers to monitor results in a preview window when changing settings.
  • Displays before and after images side-by-side for easy comparison while changing adjusting settings.
  • Enables users to save, load, or copy conversion profiles onto another RAW image.

Availability & Pricing

FUJIFILM X RAW STUDIO for Mac is available now, and is set to launch for Windows in February 2018. X RAW STUDIO is available to users at no cost.

Fujifilm GFX 50S Faces the Elements

Check out the Josselin Cornou video blog at untitledshot Youtube and some images at Instagram here and here.

TLDR :

  • Fujifilm GFX50s – Kipon EF-GFX – Tamron 15-30mm survived -15C (5 Fahrenheit) with 110km/h (70 mph) wind. It stayed out in the cold for 40min+ when the setup was literally frosting (2 times 15mn exposure, few 30s exposures).
  • Tamron 15-30mm is behaving really well with the Fujifilm GFX. From 18mm-30mm it’s really sharp and still really usable in the corner. I found it sharper in the center than with the Fuji 32-64mm@32mm.
  • So yes I definitely recommend using High definition lenses full frame for the GFX. Most of them are upscaled design to get the extras sharpness – which means that they fit Medium format.
  • And the GFX just behaved really well at those conditions, impressively well actually! (no bug, no crash, no shutdown, etc.). Having up to 60mn exposure is definitely a plus.

Sony A7R3 Vs Fujiflm GFX Dynamic Range Test at PhotonsToPhotos

The Fujifilm GFX still beats the Sony A7RIII, but as reported by SonyAlphaRumors here, things change when using pixel shift, which makes the A7rIII gain extra dynamic range.

The data:

While Fujifilm will release an IBIS camera soon, it won’t have (at least for its start) sensor shift technology.

But it’s Fuji’s first generation of IBIS… give it time, and I’m confident we will get also pixel shift, on both, APS-C and MF cameras.

Sainsonic Kamlan 50mm F1.1 + Meike 85mm F2.8 Macro Reviews… and Discount on Samyang 100mmF2.8 1:1 Macro for Fuji!

Share

Beyond Fujinon X

There currently about 100 native Fuji X mount lenses out there. And if you don’t mind manual focussing, then actually some of those can be very affordable alternatives to Fujinon X glass. Today I will list 2 of them, the fast Sainsonic Kamlan 50mm f/1.1 and the Meike 85mm Macro lens.

Kamlan 50mm F1.1

alikgriffin reviewed the Kamlan 50mm F1.1. He says amongst the others:

  • great contrast, beautiful bokeh and very nice color saturation
  • best image quality when shooting f1.1, stay at least 4-5 feet away from your subject to get past any of the spherical aberrations
  • really nice lens for black and white photography and street photography
  • Chromatic aberrations are pretty severe
  • fairly soft and smeary along the edges and corners
  • $150 bucks !

Another fast and good alternative for Fuji X lovers is the Mitakon 35mm Mk II 0.95.

Meike 85mm F2.8 Macro

Back in September, Meike announced the 86mmF2.8 1:1.5 Macro lens, an affordable manual focus macro lens and alternative to Fujifilm’s XF60mm and XF80mm. But will it conquire Fuji X shooters heart? It all depends on its performance, and we have a review about it made by Damian Brown on Youtube

  • feels solid, metal
  • sharp images
  • good contrast
  • distortion is negligable
  • he highly recommends this lens

Another great macro option is the Samyang/Rokinon 100mm F2.8 1:1 macro lens (currently disocunted at BHphoto and $100 cheaper than at Adorama).
