Ibelux 40mm F0.85 + Mitakon F0.95 Reviews + 7Artisans 35mm f/2 :: Best Fujinon Lenses in Late 2017 :: XF60 No Poor-Mans 56 (X-Mount Lens Zone)

Fujifilm X-shooters have a few ultra fast X-mount third party lens options, such as the Mitakon 35/0.95 and the Ibelux 40/0.85. But how do they perform?

Well, there are many reports already shared on FujiRumors, such as Jonas Rasks’ Mitakon 35/0.95 review. And today I want to add a few more reports, also about the second generation Ibelux 40mm/0.85, the currently fastest lens you can buy in Fuji X mount, and which is no longer a “HandeVision” but a “Kipon” product, as reported by dc.watch here

7Artisans Will Launch New Fujifilm X Mount Lenses This Year

via Mirrlessrumors via Richard Wong

7Artisans contacted me and told me about their upcoming product roadmap which they haven’t announce before. They have three new lenses coming out before end of this year:

1. 12mm f/2.8 lens for cropped sensor mirrorless cameras: Sony E, Canon EOS-M, Fuji X and Micro Four Thirds.

2. 35mm f/1.2 lens for cropped sensor mirrorless cameras: Sony E, Canon EOS-M, Fuji X and Micro Four Thirds.

3. 35mm f/2 lens for Leica M Mount cameras. And unlike their 50mm f/1.1 lens (review link in this post), the aperture lens of the 35 f/2 will have clicks!!! The de-clicked aperture ring on the 50 f/1.1 lens is probably the biggest complaint I’ve heard about this lens and I did contact them while I was working on the review and suggested them to consider making a clicked version for their future M lenses. So it’s great to hear they are listening to customers!!

No price or other information about these lenses yet, but they promised they’ll let me know as soon as they are available (which can’t be too far away as it’s already Nov!)
So stay tuned!!

7artisan recently launched the 50mmF1.1 for Fuji X. All 7artisan articles on FR here.

The Only 4 Fujifilm X Lenses You Need :: 7Artisans 50mmF1.1 on X-Pro2 :: XF50mm Reviews :: Samyang 50/1.2 Vs Fujinon 56/1.2 (Lens Zone)

Checking out the 7Artisans 50mm f:1.1 for Leica M-mount lens at J.L. Williams youtube. In his email to me, J.L. Williams writes: “I also tried it out on my Fuji X-Pro 2 camera and did a brief comparison to the Fuji 56mm f/1.2. One key finding: the lens gives an interesting look, but it doesn’t play nicely with Fuji’s focus assist features in backlit or side-lit conditions…”

A Review-holic X-mount Lens Roundup

Hi all,

my name is Patrick…

… and I have a problem…

… I’m a review-holic.

Just for buying a simple multi-tool like my [shoplink 49081 ebay]Leatherman Juice CS4[/shoplink] I’m able to read reviews for an entire day (or 2) about it.

But things start to get really bad, when I want to buy a new lens. In that case, I spend really many weeks pondering about it, reading and watching reviews until late in the night.

I don’t know why I do that.

Maybe it’s because I always read reviews that say “Fujinon glass is so perfectly awesome“, and something in me tells me “impossible… where is the catch“. It seems like sometimes I’m not really satified in my research, until I find some problems, bugs, downside… something negative.

I went to my therapist for that problem, and he told me that it is normal.

He told me, that since the very beginning of the human existence, the “pessimistic” thinking prevailed over the “optimistic” one: it was a strategy to survive in the wild. Happy people, who didn’t care about anything and run lighthearted through the jungle got eaten by some bear. But those, who remained in the cave, suspicious, pessimistic and overly careful, those guys survived… and we still have a bit of their DNA in us.

This is why it takes me so long to decide to buy a new Fujinon glass… because I spend infinite hours and days suspiciously looking for the “catch“… and it’s pretty damn hard to find one when it comes to Fujinon glass.

My therapist told me I should accept it. I just should enjoy the beautiful and perfect Fujinon glass. And he also recommended me to share the joy of shooting Fuji with other people.

And therefore… here you have it guys, another awesome X-mount lens roundup :)

Jintu AF 27mm f/2.8 for Fujifilm X Mount

A company called Jintu has launched the Jintu AF 27mm f/2.8 for Fujifilm X.

Look, I get it that this is an incredibly affordable option and hence lenses like this are welcome additions for many. I mean, the Fujinon XF27mmF2.8 R WR costs just way more that these cheap Chinese lenses, so it’s nice to have more affordable options.

But all these Chinese lenses come without aperture ring, except for the TTArtisan 27mmF2.8.

And even on the TTArtisan 27mmF2.8 the implementation of the aperture ring is far from ideal. The aperture ring is thinner than the focus ring and it is mostly just as smooth as the surrounding case. I find Fujifilm’s solutions better, where the aperture ring is much larger and sticks out from the case almost everywhere, giving a much better feel and find experience.

This is why, no matter how cheap all Chinese offerings listed below are, I personally find the Fujinon XF27mmF2.8 R WR still the best 27mm option, at least for the way I like to shoot. I am aware that this is very personal, and there might be many for whom an aperture ring is not an important feature, or even they prefer not to have one.

It wouldn’t surprise me if this lens is also one of DJ Optical’s creations, rebranded according to the company that purchases it. That might be the reason why most of these lenses look almost identical.

Other 27mm options

I have expressed my negative opinion on certain releases coming from China here.

Brightin Star Teases New AF Lens for January 6: Just Another Redundant and Uninspiring Chinese Lens?

Brightin Star is teasing a new autofocus lens to come on January 6, 2025 on their Chinese Weibo account here.

Will it be yet another redundant 23/35/50mm lens without aperture ring? Just another DJ Optical re-branded lens (like TTArtisan, 7Artisans & Co).

So, will it be just more of the same?

Of will they come up with something new, original and at least something with an aperture ring?

My guess is that it will be just more of the same. But I want to start 2025 with a glimmer of hope, so I cross fingers that it has at least an aperture ring.
