Fujifilm GFX50SII

GFX50S II offers the perfect mix of accessibility and flexibility. Pair it with the new GF35-70mmF4.5-5.6 WR lens and you’ II find a wonderfully affordable combination that delivers images from a 51.4-megapixel sensor, which makes it the perfect gateway to !arge format photography. Get outstanding results w ith professional features that include 19 Film Simulations, advanced autofocusing, and a vast range of exposure controls providing limitless opportunities for creativity.

The Freedom to Create

GFX50S II features a redesigned in-body image stabilization (IBIS) system that is 20% smaller, and 10% lighter, than the version found in GFX 100. Despite this reduction in size and weight, it provides up to an impressive 6.5 stops of five-axis stabilization (based on CIPA standards), providing dramatically broad possibilities for image makers wanting to work more freely with slow shutter speeds. Even when light levels are low, and a tripod isn’ t available, steady images are on the horizon.

GFX50S II weighs just 900g and is similar in size to many to full-frame camera s, which makes the ergonomically contoured handgrip and PASM dial – used to access the camera’ s main exposure functions
– feel wonderfully familiar and accessible. A gorgeous blend of curves and edges, the camera body is finished with a top-plate LCD to display key settings, a redesigned focus lever, and a feather-touch shutter release to turn that familiar feeling into an intuitive image-making experience.

Responsive Autofocus for Ultimate Creativity

Fast, reliable autofocus comes to GFX50S II, thanks to a combination of advanced technologies and Fujifilm’ s powerful X-Processor 4 imaging engine. Sensor readout speeds have been boosted from 130fps to 250fps compared to GFX 50S, enabl ing razor-sharp responses – whether subject tracking or picking out a face in a crowd. An improved autofocusing algorithm, taken from the latest FUJIFILM X Series and GFX System camera s, boosts focusing performance in all modes, including face and eye detection. The AF system also brilliantly works in tandem with in-body image stabilization (IBIS) to provide up to 6.5 stops of handheld stability. This simply means the camera’ s autofocusing performance will be up to the task when the creative senses are flowing.

Proven Technologies Deliver Outstanding Results

Fujifilm has been perfecting its color science know-how for more than 85 years – and all the knowledge from this impressive heritage has been poured into GFX50S II. The 51.4MP !arge format sensor uses a specially designed CMOS Bayer array that delivers images with minimal noise and an incredibly wide dynamic range, while 19 Film Simulation modes allow creatives to produce images with colors that stir emotion and memories. Coupled with the ever-growing family of G Mount lenses that can resolve sensors of 1OOMP or more, this is a camera – and system – that meets the demands of exacting creators seeking the ultimate image quality.

Fujifilm GFX50SII Marketing Materials to be Released September 2/3

Back in May, Nokishita spotted that the marketing material (suer manual, pictures, etc) for the FF210001 camera will be released on August 27.

However, we immediately told you that nothing will happen on August 27. Later on we told you it will happen on September 2.

Now the date for the release of the materials has been changed at the FCC [located in USA] to September 3 and Nokishita noticed this and writes:

The release date of FCC materials such as the appearance and manuals of Fujifilm “FF210001” has been changed to September 3, 2021. It should be announced by 23:59 on September 2nd

There will be a Fujifilm X summit. It has not yet been announced, but Fujifilm will do it shortly. Of course we will live stream the event here on FujiRumors.

There won’t be “just” the Fujifilm GFX50SII. Down below a list of what we can expect:

  • Fujifilm GFX50SII
  • Fujinon GF35-70mmF4.5-5.6
  • Fujifilm X-T30II

The GFX 50 Series is an ISO-less Classic

The sensor in the GFX 50 series is certainly not the fastest. Nevertheless, you should not underestimate this ISO-invariant classic with its 50 megapixels. In terms of sharpness and dynamic range, it can still hold a candle to newer developments.

by Rico Pfirstinger

Virtually all cameras of the Fujifilm X series are ISO-less (also known as ISO-invariant). This refers to cameras with sensors for which the ISO setting doesn’t matter in terms of image quality. Only the set aperture and exposure time (shutter speed) are decisive. It’s all about the actual amount of light that reaches the sensor. I have written about this before (German version, English version).

Is My Camera ISO-less?

You can find out yourself to what extent the sensor in your camera is ISO-less. Here’s an example with a GFX 50S: I first shot a consistently lit test subject at f/13, 1/50 sec. and ISO 1600. The result was a correctly exposed image. I then shot the same subject again at aperture 13 and 1/50 sec., but this time I reset the ISO to ISO 100. This is the base ISO value of the GFX 50 series, i.e. its baseline sensitivity. Of course, the second image appears four stops darker. After all, it was taken at an ISO setting that was four stops lower than the first shot, with otherwise the same exposure. To make our second image (captured at ISO 100) appear as bright as the first, we need to boost it four stops in the RAW converter (in our case, that’s Adobe Lightroom). This we do by moving the converter’s exposure slider 4 EV to the right from its zero position.

The same subject shot twice with f/13 and 1/50 sec. – on the left with ISO 1600, on the right with ISO 100 and a subsequent brightening in the RAW converter by 4 EV.

Please click on the image for a larger version.

To better assess whether the GFX 50S used in this example really works ISO-less, let’s take a closer look at enlarged details of the two test shots:
