Fujifilm Vs. Nikon Mirrorless

The Nikon Z6 and Nikon Z7 have been announced and are now available for pre-order.

So how do Nikon’s new mirrorless cameras compare to Fujifilm’s offering?

Well, I have created a comprehensive specs comparison, and included also the Fujifilm X-T3 and Fujifilm GFX 50R to the list.

While we know a lot about the Fujifilm X-T3 and I can already insert lots of specs in the list, we know not so much about the GFX 50R. However, it should have about the same specs of the GFX 50S, just in another form factor (rangefinder) and for a much cheaper price. So there won’t be big surprises with the GFX 50R.

Both Nikon’s are surely very good cameras. There are many specs to love, but also some, that might not really incentivize Nikon DSLR shooters to switch to Nikon mirrorless Z6 or Z7.

In fact, both cameras have:

  • only 1 XQD card slot (might be a dealbreaker for Pros)
  • battery life is around 310/330 shots (welcome to mirrorless, Nikon)
  • there is no eye-detection AF (let’s hope it comes via firmware update)

In Japan, Fujifilm Professional Service costs $45 a Year for GFX and X Cameras with Lots of Benefits

Back in April 2017, Fujifilm has launched a professional service (FPS) in USA. For an annual fee of $500 you get discounts on non-warranty repairs, freebies, loaners and more – full details here.

The FPS service in USA covers only GFX series.

Also in Japan Fujifilm launched a professional service, but it’s much better than the US-FPS.

FIRST IMAGES of FUJINON XF 16-80mm F4 and XF 16mm F2.8

New Roadmap Lenses Images

Yesterday Fujifilm announced a new Fujinon X mount lens roadmap, along with the XF 8-16mm F2.8 and XF 200mm F2. Of course we reported about immediately here on FujiRumors Live Blogging.

The new roadmap includes the following 3 new lenses:

  • Fujinon XF 16-80mm F4
  • Fujinon XF 33mm F1.0
  • Fujinon XF 16mm F2.8

Now the first images of the XF 16-80mm F4 and XF 16mm F2.8 mock ups start surfacing on the web, and you can see them down all below and have been shared at dc.watch and by pw-pix2 at dpreview.

In addition to that, you will see also more real life images of the XF 8-16mm F2.8 and XF 200mm F2.

As you can see, despite I am currently on holidays (driving to Matera now), I will not miss a single tidbit and break it all for you here on FujiRumors first. Fujifilm is known to be a very creative company, always open to new markets and ideas.

For example, they used the materials of their dying film rolls business to produce cosmetics (see also “how Fujifilm survived the digital age“).

A flexible company like Fujifilm coudn’t miss the digital camera train, and they released the amazing X and GFX series cameras and lenses.

But what if all this fails?

Well, Fujifilm has a fantastic Plan B: Feed the World!

In fact, Fujifilm Korea just launched the Fujifilm Film Simulation Instant Noodles.

Not kidding guys.

Fujifilm GFX 50S firmware 3.20 and X-Pro2 firmware 5.00 Postponed to July

Fujifilm just announced that the Fujifilm X-Pro2 firmware ver. 5.00 and Fujifilm GFX 50S firmware ver. 3.20 have been delayed to “July 2018”.

Along with this announcement, they did release the new Fujifilm X-H1 and X-T2 firmware. All details here.
