Fujifilm GFX Facebook Group Frenzy :)

THE ROADMAP FUJIFILM DOES NOT WANT YOU TO SEE

Fujifilm just release a very vague roadmap, where they talk about a “telephoto prime” in early 2018 and a teleconverter. No big surprise, since we leaked the more detailed internal roadmap here on FujiRumors prior the announcement.

Of course it can be subject to change. Even lenses in the official Fujifilm roadmap changed (56/1.4 became 56/1.2) or scratched (remember XF120mm macro?). So take it with a grain of salt. But this is what Fujifilm is sharing as internal roadmap, and it shows:

  • GF 250mm F4 (early 2018)
  • GF 35mm F2.8 (mid 2018)
  • GF 20-36mm F3.5-4.5 or GF 100-200mm F4.5-5.6 (end 2018. NOTE: Fujifilm says one of the two. Final decision has not yet been done)

Where is the Fujifilm Instax SQ? (not SQ10)

Ok, the Instax SQ10 hybrid film/digital camera is now a reality. But there were also leaks about an Instax SQ film only camera. So what happened to that one?

There are working prototypes out there, and you could already see them here on FujiRumors. The launch is planed for a later moment (quite later), but it will come :)

As already reported in the live blogging, the special Instax Square site is now live.

Fujifilm GFX 50s Firmware

Spot on, FR-sources! Also this rumor is correct. There will be indeed a nice firmware update for Fujifilm GFX 50s, that will improve features and give you better AF in critical situations and more. The full Fujifilm statement again :)

“FUJIFILM will release free firmware update for the FUJIFILM GFX 50S. It will be due late May 2017, adding new function and improving operability. These firmware updates will add new function for computer tethering via Wi-Fi and improve operability in exposure compensation and autofocus performance in difficult scenes. Fujifilm continues to incorporate customer feedback into future performance enhancements so customers can keep using our digital cameras for years to come.”

The price (and first specs) for the upcoming Fujinon GF lenses has been leaked. The lenses will be released in June

  • GF 110 mm F 2 R LM WR
  • Expected release date: June, 2017
  • Suggested retail price: 359,500 yen + tax
  • Mass store sales price: around 350, 460 yen (tax included) – ($3,222)
  • 14 groups in 9 group, minimum 0.9 m, maximum 0.16 times, filter 77 mm, φ 94.3 mm × 125.5 mm, about 1010 g
  • GF 23 mm F 4 R LM WR
  • Expected release date: June, 2017
  • Suggested retail price: 339,500 yen + tax
  • Mass store sales price: around 328,860 yen (including tax) – ($3.023)
  • 12 groups 15 pieces, minimum 38 cm, maximum 0.09 times, filter 82 mm, φ 89.8 mm × 103.0 mm, about 845 g

Usually GF lenses costs $14% less in USA than in Japan, which means:

  • GF110mm F2 for $2770
  • GF23mm F4 for $2,599

The rumored price has already surfaced on the web months ago as I’ve reported here:

  • Fujinon GF 23mmF4 = $2599
  • Fujinon GF 45mmF2.8 = $1699
  • Fujinon GF 110mmF2 = $2799

At Japanese camera store yodobashi, the price for the other Fujinon GF lenses is:

  • GF63mm for 193,860 ($1,782). Price in USA: $1,499 (-15% compared to Japanese price)
  • GF32-64 for 291,060 ($2,676). Price in USA: $2,299 (-14% compared to Japanese price)
  • GF120mm for 339,660 ($3,123). Price in USA: $2,699 (-13,5% compared to Japanese price)

Fujifilm GFX 50s Firmware Update 1.01 Available

Fujifilm just released the first firmware update for Fujifilm GFX 50s. This is not the major firmware update we are waiting for and is rumored to be released in May.

The firmware update Ver.1.01 from Ver.1.00 incorporates the following issues:

  • 1. The phenomenon is fixed that in some cases the actual saturation of the EVF display is not changed even if the setting of the EVF COLOR in SCREEN SET-UP is changed. It occurs especially after EVF display is changed to LCD and then back to EVF.

Hold on! Don’t say “Yet another GFX article” :) You can skip it if you want, and read the other two articles shared today, that are not (or not exclusively) GFX centric, like the X-E3 rumor here or the miXed zone here.

This post is just here to enjoy a tiny fraction out of the terrific amount of images shared over at our 11,000+ members strong GFX facebook group from all around the world. And the fact that they have been taken with GFX, is just secondary, compared to the beauty of the shots.

There is talent in the group, and I have the pleasure to share it with you :). So today, let’s see Madagascar, Italy, Russia and more through the eye of the GFX (also with a lot of adapted lenses)

Believe me, it costs me a ton of time to make these “image roundups”. I just finished the on-axis sharpness, focus shift, and LoCA tests for the 63mm f/2.8 lens on the GFX at 2 meters.
Conclusions:
This is one sharp lens on-axis.
There’s a fair amount of LoCA
The focus shift, while easily measurable, is modest.

The Fujinon GF 23mm F4 R LM WR will be announced on April 19, 2017.

Just as rumored yesterday, on April 19 Fujifilm will also announce the Fujinon GF 110mm F2 WR LM.

To me this means just one thing: I have to recover good from my birthday party on April 17, since on April 19 I want to be fit for the Live Blogging here on FujiRumors :).

And in case you missed it, I am selling a “FujiRumors” personalized wooden hand grip (for X-T1), a “FujiRumors” hot shoe cover and also a leather strap here. The value is of $110, and currently the highest bet is of $155. 100% of the money goes to charity to support free education in Cambodia at KNGO, the NGO we collected $3,500 last year with the sale of the fair trade recycled X-shirts.

Two hours ago, Novoflex announced that they are working on an adpater for Fujifilm GFX 50s. The news has been shared at their official facebook page here.

Somebody said in the comments to the Novoflex facebook post: “Great!!!! I want use the Balpro on the GFX” and Novoflex answered in German “dauert nicht mehr lange” (it won’t take long anymore).

The Fujinon GF 110mm F2 WR LM will be announced on April 19. Just two days after my birthday :) .

Earlier this year, the estimated price of the 3 remaining GF lenses, including the Fujinon GF 110mm F2 WR LM, surfaced on the web. I reported about it already in the past here, but here is the rumored price again:

  • GF23mmF4 = $2599
  • GF45mmF2.8 = $1699
  • GF110mmF2 = $2799

Please take them with a grain of salt, not only because they could be wrong, but also because the price leaked a few months ago… enough time for Fujifilm to change the price tag.

My personal guess though, is that you should not be surprised if the GF110mm costs more than $2,800.

Along with the Fujinon GF 110mm F2 WR LM, Fujifilm should also announce the new Instax Square cameras, the already leaked Instax Square SQ and Instax Square SQ10.

The Instax Square SQ10 will be a hybrid digital/film camera. All details here.
