The Fujinon GF80mmF1.7 is currently not easy to find. A low stock is available at Adorama here and also at AmazonUS here.

And yet, slowly but surely, it is falling in the hands of photographers, who drop their (very positive) reviews on the various online sales platforms:

I did play around with the Fujinon GF80mmF1.7 too (and so did my son) when I met my friend, who sold all his Nikon Z mirrorless gear for the GFX system. So far he does not regret it at all and he is totally thrilled about his switch.

TIPA has worked very hard and made a brutal selection, in which only the very best of the crème de la crème of the top of the top could win their extremely prestigious TIPA award.

RUMOR UPDATE: Affordable GF Zoom Lens Coming Second Half 2021

This is an important update.

According to our sources, Fujifilm has moved the announcement of the upcoming affordable GF zoom lens from the first half 2021 to the second half 2021. Don’t worry, it won’t be delayed further to 2022. It will 100% arrive within 2021.

I don’t know if this delay is related to the shortage of parts announced by Fujifilm. Anyway, I thought it was worth to keep you up to date with the latest developments.

Anyway, it makes little difference to the substance of that rumor, which is that it will be Fuji’s most affordable G mount lens and come soon.

Fujifilm GFX50S MKII will NOT be Announced on August 27

Just a little clarification.

The fantastic folks over at Nokishita recently spotted the FCC registration for the FF210001 camera. The info we got from that was:

  • there is an FF210001 camera registered
  • it has almost the size of the GFX100S
  • marketing material release is on August 27

Prior to this, FujiRumors told you:

  • there will be a GFX50SMKII
  • same sensor of original GFX50S

So, what Nokishita tells you is 100% accurate. I mean, that’s really what the FCC registration says and as usual Nokishita makes a hell of job when it comes to spotting registrations.

But here is the thing.

While Nokishita reports accurately that the marketing material is currently scheduled for August 27 release at the FCC, it is also true that this is not the date for the Fujifilm GFX50SMKII annoucement.

So guys, on August 27 you can:

  • get badly drunk with friends for an end-of-pandemic party
  • bring out your better half to an elegant dinner (and in that occasion explain her/him why you really need that new lens)
  • do whatever makes you happy

You won’t miss any Fujifilm annoucement on August 27.

The date for the Fujifilm GFX50S announcement will be a different one (if Fuji keeps the date fixed this time, as it keeps changing). Once it’s final, I’ll let you know.

For the rest of the specs, some of them might come surprising to you (at least they were for me), all you need to do is to follow FujiRumors.

So, what did Nokishita tell us so far?

  • Fujifilm registered an FF210001 camera
  • the FF210001 camera has almost same size of GFX100S
  • the FF210001 marketing material is scheduled for release on August 27

That’s it, and being so vague, I can totally understand your confusion. Nokishita does not tell us the name of the camera, nor any specs beside the similar size to the GFX100S.

Well, I have noticed so much random and misleading guesses after nokishita’s leak, that it’s time to underline some hardcore facts I already told you 2 months ago, and that I 110% confirm now:

Also, the images Nokishita showed us (as the one above), are of the GFX100S registration, not of the GFX50S as some websites reported

IT IS OVER: Fujifilm X-E4 is Fuji’s Last X-Trans IV Camera

It’s over!

Not only the Fujifilm X-E4 will be the last X series camera to come this year, but according to our sources it will also be the last one to feature the excellent X-Trans IV sensor!

The 26MP X-Trans IV sensor was used first on the Fujifilm X-T3, followed by the X-T30, X-Pro3, X100V, X-T4, X-S10 and last but not least the X-E4.

It’s still a great sensor with top-notch technology. Backside illuminated, full phase detection coverage, copper wiring for faster sensor readout. It’s the same technology we find in flagship cameras of other brands such as the Sony Alpha a7R IV.

And the future?

Fujifilm managers already hinted multiple times like in this interview and also here, that the future will bring more megapixel to the X series.

Which sensor technology will be used? Will it really be that 43 Megapixel 8K stacked BSI sensor?

On April 26 I was finally allowed to leave my little village, so I could finally hit my local photography store in the province nearby.

I entered the store, and in a total frenzy grabbed the first free seller and nervously asked him to give me that bloody XF27mmF2.8 R WR right now!

I guess this was some sort of withdrawal symptom, as I sold my XF27mmF2.8 MKI a few days ago, which I was totally addicted to. So the replacement could not come fast enough!

Now I finally have it, and here it is! Obviously glued on my Fujifilm X-E3. The dream combo is back, and it already served me well on my daily walks around my little village with my son.

But the lovely Fujinon XF27mmF2.8 R WR is just one of the photo gear Fujifilm recently released just the day before my son was born.

Sure, there was the massive Fujifilm GFX100S and the bokeh monster GF80mmF1.7.

But the releases on the X series front were not less interesting.

There was the Fujifilm X-E4. Then there is the incredibly poratable Fujinon XF70-300mmF4-5.6, which, with about the size of the XF55-200mm, is the perfect lens to get a long reach in a compact package and absolutely fair price for the X system. And yes, last but not least the XF27mmF2.8 R WR.
