Fujinon GF35-70mmF4.5-5.6 to Cost $999 (Lens Only) and $500 (Kit Price)

According to information we have received, the upcoming Fujinon GF35-70mmF4.5-5.6 will cost $999. However, you can get it for $500 if purchased in kit with a GFX body.

This makes it the most affordable G mount lens along with probably the next lens I’ll buy for my GFX100S, the Fujinon GF50mmF3.5.

And you have no idea how tempted I am by the GF50mmF3.5. Just don’t tell my wife about it ;).

To Be Announced on September 2

Fujifilm GFX50SII Rumor Recap

Fujinon GF35-70mmF4.5-5.6

Don’t Worry: Fujinon GF35-70mm f/4.5-5.6 is Weather Sealed

FujiRumors told you already back in March (!!!) that Fujifilm will launch the Fujifilm GFX50SII.

And over all these months, we have leaked, price, specs, release date and more.

We have also told you that, along with the Fujifilm GFX50SII, Fujifilm will launch a new and affordable zoom lens, the Fujinon GF35-70mmF4.5-5.6.

When we leaked the first details (no aperture ring, $500 kit price, etc), some FR-readers were sure that this would be the G mount equivalent of the Fujinon XC lenses, hence just a plastic mount and possibly not even weather sealing, in order to keep it as cheap as possible.

But that’s not correct.

The Fujinon GF35-70mmF4.5-5.6 will have a metal mount and, that’s today’s rumor, according to our sources it will also be weather sealed!

Fujifilm GFX100S with Tamron 150-600 using Fringer EF-GFX Smart Autofocus Adapter [VIDEO]

As we reported already, Fringer will officially release the Fringer EF-GFX smart autofocus adapter in October.

Now Fringer shared a video, showing the performance of the Tamron 150-600mm f/5-6.3 VC G2 on the Fujifilm GFX100S.

Fringer writes:

A very good super telephoto lens for GFX cameras. It fully cover the 44x33mm sensor in all focal range. We also demo its AF performance on Fringer adapter.

Key Features:

  • Electronic aperture control: built-in elecgronic aperture ring similar to native G mount lenses
  • Phase Detection AF Support (AF-S. AF-C, Eye-AF, etc. in GFX100 and GFX100S only). Focus Points fully cover the sensor. DSLR like AF experiences.
  • Supports both lens IS and IBIS (not at the same time). Users may choose between them
  • Supports in-camera lateral chromatic aberration correction

Fujifilm GFX50SII has X Processor 4 for Faster Autofocus and Nostalgic Negative Film Simulation

According to our sources, the Fujifilm GFX50SII will feature Fuji’s currently most modern processor, the X Processor 4.

We remind you that the original Fujifilm GFX50S uses the previous generation processor, the X Processor Pro.

That’s quite a big deal, as it will allow the Fujifilm GFX50SII to focus faster than its predecessor and also to have all the latest film simulations including the lovely Nostalgic Negative simulation.

To be clear, I doubt it will focus as fast as the Fujifilm GFX100S, as the Fujifilm GFX50SII will still feature a non BSI sensor. But the new X Processor 4 will surely be able to squeeze out all what’s left in terms of AF power from that 50 megapixel sensor.

I believe Fujifilm is about to drop a serious winner on the market.

A specs recap can be found below.

EISA Awards 2021/22: Fujifilm GFX100S and X-S10 Snap Awards and Everybody Else Too

EISA has assigned awards to everybody making up categories that are hard to distinguish, so that lots of companies will pay lots of money for their EISA logo license to be used in future.

And if they don’t pay, next year those companies will be “punished” by not receiving awards, leading to tons of negative press.

Fujifilm once refused to pay for the TIPA logo license and they were punished the following year by not receiving any award for their digital cameras. That lead to tons of negative press, so Fujifilm decided to pay TIPA again lots of money.

How much?

For example, using the RedDot award logo for one product and one year costs up to $6,000. I can’t think at an easier way to make money than selling awards.

After this reality check, let’s see who “won” this year.

Fujifilm GFX50SII will Look IDENTICAL to the Fujifilm GFX100S, Hence Make Leaked Images Useless ;)

I keep getting emails about how the Fujifilm GFX50SII will look like.

Will it retain the dials of the GFX50S? Will it still have the backhump? Will it still have a detachable viewfinder? And more of these questions.

I get it, it’s summer, so it’s easier to miss certain articles while you are on holiday. And that’s good so.

But in the hope to stop the storm of emails I get, I would like to remind you of this article on June, where I say that the Fujifilm GFX50SII will look identical to the Fujifilm GFX100S.

And with identical, I mean identical: every button, the viewfinder, the dials, just everything.

This also means that the leaked images of the Fujifilm GFX50SII will be the most boring ever, as all you have to do is to look at the Fujifilm GFX100S.

Singer-Turned-Photographer Bryan Adams Shooting Pirelli Calendar 2022 with Fujifilm GFX100S

original image at CNN taken by Alessandro Scotti
original image at CNN taken by Alessandro Scotti

Here is a little weekend curiosity.

Singer-Turned-Photographer Bryan Adams is currently at work to shoot the new Pirelli Calendar 2022.

Now some behind the scenes images appeared at CNN here, and the camera we see has to be the Fujifilm GFX100S: flat viewfinder, top LCD with two buttons on the right, the “viewmode” printed on the side.

Well, at least he got one already. Fujifilm was totally overwhelmed by the demand for this camera (it is already the most owned GFX camera among the FR community), that it is still hard to find in stock (and Fujifilm warned us about this).

As for the lens he is using in the image we can see above, it could be the Fujinon GF32-64mmF4.

Well, that’s surely where the GFX system belongs: very high end professional work.

And yet, considering that medium format is now getting more affordable than some mirrorless full frame cameras and also smaller than some full frame mirrorless cameras, the GFX system is finding its way also in lots of camera bags of enthusiast photographers, who might not make money out of their images, but value image quality above all else.

You can read the full article and see the images at CNN here.
