The announcement:
The upcoming X-Pro2 is very likely the real reason behind the huge rebates on basically All X-gear. The savings go up to $900 — LIST OF SAVINGS HERE… and we now have one more confirmation, that the X-Pro2 is about to come.
After debunking fake rumors (not sharedhereonFR), that the X-Pro2 will be announced at CES, our sources said back in October here, that the X-Pro2 will be announced on January 15. This date (Janaury 15) has now been confirmed, in public, by Magnum Photos. After leaking two X-Pro2 images, Magnum justifies the removal of the photographs as follows:
“Embargo till Jan. 15 2016due to contract with the camera manufacturer“.

I’ve started to write this blog post over and over again. But I don’t know, how to put together and exciting news like the first leaked images taken with an X-Pro2 along with the a terrible massacre of Paris.
I feel shocked, as all of you out there. When horribly things like these happen, I’m used to close myself in silence and think to the victims, their families and their friends. For me, it’s difficult to talk about it with people close to me…. imagine how hard it is to write something on Fujirumors.
But I also know that many of you guys out there are PRO photographers. And I know that your aim is to photograph life as it is, the good and the bad, the beautiful and the dreadful. Some of you might even risk their own life to get close to the truth and capture it with their camera.
Sometimes a photographer just has to be right there, where history is happening. And in these days, history is writing one of its terrible chapters in Paris. And it’s my job to tell you that there is somebody with a Fujifilm X-Pro2 documenting it.
The 2 images have been shared in public here at magnumphotos. The EXIF data can be seen here. It really seems to be an X-Pro2 with 18mm lens. These images are part of a magnumphoto section, dedicated to the terrorists attacks in France. You can see all the pictures here.
if you have an account at magnumphotos, you can pruchase & donwload the high-res samples. And that’s what a FR reader did. The FR reader says (thanks):
The mangum images of paris are 6000×4000. If they really are from a xpro-2, that would make 24MP certain. The time in the exif is 21:23:45 however. That is clearly wrong, as at that time in november it’s pitch black in Paris [21:23 in Toyko is 13:23 in Paris].
I won’t comment the images. All I can say today is, be strong, my French friends.

According to what the top trusted Japanese source told me, the Fujifilm X-Pro2 will NOT feature a tilt screen.
From the comments shared on FujiRumors in the past, I know that some will applaud this decision, others won’t. I remember this older Poll, launched when the X-T1 still had to be announced, where 32% of the FujiRumors readers wanted an X-T1 without tilt-screen.
So here are two polls:
The first is about how important the tilt screen in the X-Pro2 is for you.
The second one is an updated flagship battle Poll X-T2 Vs. X-Pro2, considering this new rumor. Sensor, AF-performance and Firmware overall would remain the same between X-Pro2 and X-T2. Main differences: the X-T2 won’t have an OVF, be cheaper, have a better grip etc, while the X-Pro2 will have the hybrid viewfinder, no tilt screen, rangefinder design etc.

We recently discussed the quality of several third party batteries in this post. There are some very good alternatives to the expensive original Fuji batteries, like Patona,Wasabi and the Watson (and more suggestions in the comments). These batteries are small & cheap. I own 4 of them, so I never have to worry about battery life on my X-E2 / X-T1. Problem solved!
But I’ve heard some in the FujiRumors community asking for a new, longer lasting battery for the X-Pro2.
I thought it would be nice to let you vote on this topic. Should the Fuji X-Pro2 feature a new, improved battery, or keep the same Fujifilm NP-W126 battery, so you’ll be able to use the same batteries you already own for the X-T1, X-T10, X-E2 & CO?

I’ve already shared it last year from a new source, and now an anonymous source (thanks) says it too: the Fujifilm X-Pro2 will feature a dual SD-Card slot.
No confirmation from trusted source so far.
As you might remember, the Fuji X-T1 was planed to have 2 SD-Card slots, too. However, Fuji changed plans (as so often), sealed one SD-Card slot, and decided to go for a single SD-card slot with support for ultra-fast UHS-II SD-Card.
I’d love to see a Fuji X-Pro2 with dual UHS-II SD-card slot. But if you should decide between just one of these two feature, which one would you prefer?

Do you know some other interesting / weird accessory for your X-camera? Then share it here :)

I tell you… this comes from trusted source, and therefore you better mark this date in your calendar.
However, before sharing, one important note: don’t take it as a 100% fact … I hear you saying: “Why? It comes from trusted source!” That’s right. But….
… but trusted or not, there is always a little risk to share the precise launch date several months before the official announcement. In fact, Fuji can change the date anytime for several reasons.
And believe me, if there is one thing I hate even more than posting a wrong rumor, then it’s posting a correct rumor at the time of sharing, but that turns out to be wrong, just because Fuji changed plans later on (damn you, Fuji X-Pro1S!!!).
That’s the risk of sharing early rumors, but what rumor site would FujiRumors be, if I wouldn’t take some risks for you ;) .
Ok, let’s move on.
I’ve noticed that since yesterday some fake rumors about the X-Pro2 announcement (& more) are circulating on the web, immediately debunked by the trusted Japanese source. According to the source, there won’t be any X-Pro2 at the CES in Las Vegas.
And today’s rumor is also brought to you by trusted source (thanks a lot!), who confirms: the trusted Japanese source is spot on. No X-Pro2 announcement at CES [6th to 9th January] but later. Fuji has set the announcement date to mid-January… more precisely, the 15th of January!
I don’t know you, but I’ve marked this date on my calendar. Of course I’ll let you know if there will be any changes, but I’m very optimistic that Fuji will keep this date.
Oh, and btw, isn’t Fuji launching a Big 5 years X-celebration Party at their HQ in… guess when… Mid-January? Sure, it doesn’t mean anything, it’s not a proof… we all know that coincidence exists ;-) !
NOTE: I’m still working to find out exactly when it will hit the market. Knowing Fujifilm, probably right in time for spring… 2017… just kidding ;)
