Why I Got Rid of My Fujifilm X-T2 :: Why I Returned X-Pro2 :: Why I Kept X-T1 and not X-T2 :: Open Letters to Fujifilm (miXed zone)

Goodbye Fuji X-T2: Why I FINALLY had to let it go at LivingVertical Youtube

The Good, The Bad and The Freedom to Say it All

I love the Fuji system.

And yes, sometimes I just can’t contain my enthusiasm and excitement for the Fuji X and G systems, which brings me to write long emotional articles when a camera gets discontinued or lose myself in a frenzy of happiness for a rumor, when I could have said everything with 1 headline and saved a lot of my spare time.

That’s who I am… can’t change it… deal with it ;)

However, this is FujiRumors… and I know that this blog is a big source for all things Fuji for many of you guys.

That’s why my number 1 priority will always be to deliver honest, good, fair, fast and accurate service to you… even if it means that sometimes we have to talk “bad” about Fujifilm.

So here on FujiRumors we are are free to…

  • write about my main 2 complaints on the Fujifilm X-T1 – read here
  • launch polls investigating why people don’t buy Fujifilm (highlighting the weaknesses of the system) – read here
  • We love Kaizen, but recently called the Wireless Tethering feature a Joke – read here
  • When we think Fujifilm is losing the path (and its “soul”), we report (and comment) about it – read here
  • When reviewers give negative feedback about an important key feature of a new camera (such as the hybrid viewfinder on X100T), we will report about it – read here
  • FujiRumors is regulary the first place that reports about issues and bugs, such as the mushy buttons on the first batch of X-T1’s and more

I’ll just quickly add, that I can do this only because I have absolutely 0% contacts with (and zero favours/money/support from) Fujifilm, which gives me an immense freedom to write whatever I want.

You guys, the FR-readers, are my only boss… and all I want to do is to deliver you the best content and rumors possible.

The Roundup

The Fujifilm X-System is not for everybody. Depending on what your needs are, you may be more or less satisfied with it. Some people love the X-system so much, that they can live with minor issues (maybe waiting for a Kaizen Firmware to fix it), some others just have to return their Fuji camera, just like LivingVertical did with his X-T2 (video above) or alastairarthur did with his X-Pro2 (link below).

But there are also many very happy Fuji users out there, who keep up producing great work with their Fuji gear (such as Kevin Mullins’ recent wedding Photographs)… and I’m happy to share them in this roundup, too.

Major Fujifilm X-Pro2 Kaizen Firmware Update Will Add 4K Video and More

There Will Be Kaizen

Heay gsiys I AMSMAZING casnT BNelive…

* * Dutch vegetable break * *

Sorry, I was too excited to type… but now I’m more calm… so let me try again to write it down for you ;)

Dear Fujifilm Shooters,

some of you might remember, when back in 2013, the godfather of the Fujifilm X-series, Mr. Kawahara, said in this interview of 2013 that they are committed to improve their cameras via firmware updates because “we want you to use our camera longer and longer in your life.” (Note: Kawahara left Fujifilm in 2016, as reported here).

And indeed, we have seen many huge Kaizen firmware updates for many cameras in these years.

The FW updates were so big, that Fujifilm had to re-write entire camera manuals several times and Rico had to republish updated versions of his Fuji Tips and Tricks ebooks. And (unless you are an X100S/T) owner, you had the pleasure to feel what it means to “download a complete new camera… for free“.

Well… today I’m very excited to tell you, that there will be Kaizen love again… also for the Fujifilm X-Pro2!

Fujifilm X-Pro2: Level Up

I hear from trusted sources, that Fujifilm is working on a major firmware update for the Fujifilm X-Pro2, which will, among the others, give X-Pro2 owners 4K video and more.

Here on FujiRumors, the community asked for 4K on X-Pro2 multiple times, in dedicated articles and comments, and finally also Fuji Guy Billy joined Fujirumors critics on February 2017, when he said here he is also “fighting with Japan” to implement 4K on X-Pro2.

Well… it seemed all this pressure helped ;)

So, dear X-Pro2 shooters… be patient, and you will get your Kaizen Love.

Oh… and feel free to share the joy with all of us at the Fujifilm X-Pro user group on facebook. We also have an X-T User Group, if you are interested.

Time To Dream

4K is sure. But what else would you like? Tethering? And maybe the ability to adjust ISO via command dial? Anything else? Well, then say it here in the comments… you know those guys at the Fujifilm headquarter read us and X-ray your comments :)

*** You’ve Got The Power ***

Can Fujifilm ignore a unique community on the world-wide web that is able to drop 11,000 votes in a single poll within 2 days? Nope, they simply can’t :)

And if there is a reason why Fujifilm’s most known top manager, Toshihisa Iida, “loves” FujiRumors, then it’s because you guys provide Fujifilm an umatched amount of (free) feedback every single day in your comment and poll votes.

Your diligent (and massive) participation allowed Fujirumors to become the privileged channel that connects Fujifilm to its customers… this is more that I could have ever hoped for this blog! Thanks guys :)

Now, to keep our feet well set on the ground, I will also say that I’m aware we can’t always influence Fujifilm’s decision…

… however, sometimes, we can :)

In fact, it was your feedback and negative poll results, that killed the monochrome X-Pro1 and your positive pressure that revived the X-E3 plans and made Fujifilm say herewe are aware of the many X-E3 request”.  The feedback you give in polls makes it to internal Fujifilm meetings with the Press and, as said before, even Fujifilm top manager Toshihisa Iida “Loves” FujiRumors.

So guys, never stop it and keep up sharing your daily feedback to Fujifilm :)

have a GREAT day,

A Review-holic X-mount Lens Roundup

Hi all,

my name is Patrick…

… and I have a problem…

… I’m a review-holic.

Just for buying a simple multi-tool like my [shoplink 49081 ebay]Leatherman Juice CS4[/shoplink] I’m able to read reviews for an entire day (or 2) about it.

But things start to get really bad, when I want to buy a new lens. In that case, I spend really many weeks pondering about it, reading and watching reviews until late in the night.

I don’t know why I do that.

Maybe it’s because I always read reviews that say “Fujinon glass is so perfectly awesome“, and something in me tells me “impossible… where is the catch“. It seems like sometimes I’m not really satified in my research, until I find some problems, bugs, downside… something negative.

I went to my therapist for that problem, and he told me that it is normal.

He told me, that since the very beginning of the human existence, the “pessimistic” thinking prevailed over the “optimistic” one: it was a strategy to survive in the wild. Happy people, who didn’t care about anything and run lighthearted through the jungle got eaten by some bear. But those, who remained in the cave, suspicious, pessimistic and overly careful, those guys survived… and we still have a bit of their DNA in us.

This is why it takes me so long to decide to buy a new Fujinon glass… because I spend infinite hours and days suspiciously looking for the “catch“… and it’s pretty damn hard to find one when it comes to Fujinon glass.

My therapist told me I should accept it. I just should enjoy the beautiful and perfect Fujinon glass. And he also recommended me to share the joy of shooting Fuji with other people.

And therefore… here you have it guys, another awesome X-mount lens roundup :)

5 Reasons I Left Fujifilm X-T2 for X-Pro2 :: X-Pro2 Wedding Game-Changer :: X100F, X-T2 or X-Pro2 :: Fuji Guys X-Pro2 (miXed zone)

Talking with David duChemin, and looking back at our favourite episodes! at TCSTV youtube. It’s a very interesting and entertaining talk. Watch it all. But if you want to know what gear David is using, go to minute 17:50 (hint: X-T2). And what’s the worst camera he has ever used? That will be answered at 20:50 ;)

X-Pro2 Rocks :)

Yes, the Fujifilm X-Pro2 might not sell nowhere near as good as the Fujifilm X-T2, but there are enough people out there, who love it, and prefer it over any other X-series cameras… and I will feature a few of them in today’s mixed zone.

Just one thing could Fujifilm do better: give it as much Kaizen love as to the X-T line. I’m still quite annoyed, that a recent firmware allowed the X-T2 to control ISO with command dial (as it’s possible on X100F), but they did not add this function on the X-Pro2. Seriously Fujifilm… you’ve got to fix this! And let’s hope that Fuji Guy’s Billy fight with Japan for 4K video on X-Pro2 will be successful, too.

Sony A9 Vs. Fujifilm X-T2 / X-Pro2 :: Sony Shooter Reviews Fuji X-T2 :: X-T2 Electronic Shutter for Sports

Guess what guys?

Yes, the inevitable is happening. People start to compare the brand new Sony A9 with the Fujifilm X-T2 and X-Pro2.

Now, I will say it once for all, so you can avoid to say it in the comments: “These comparisons are all unfair“. :-)

Ok… with that said, here is todays roundup, entirely focused on comparisons (and thoughts) between Sony and Fuji.

Sony Shooter Reviews Fujifilm X-T2

Let’s start with a Fujifilm X-T2 from a Sony APS-C shooter perspective (video above). The reviewer loves the X-T2 a lot. The colors, ACROS, the controls, the better lenses… there seems to be a lot to love on the X-T2 over Sony’s APS-C System.

Check out the video at Fuji X-T2 Review – From a Sony Shooter at The Photo/Video Show Youtube

Sony A9 Vs. Fujifilm X-Pro2 Image Quality

DPreview’s lab test shows that the IQ of the APS-C Fujifilm X-Pro2 can easily keep up with the IQ of the much more expensive FF Sony A9. Actually, X-Pro2 images look noticeably sharper, have way less false colors… overall, IQ on the X-Pro2 seems to be better than on the Sony A9.

However, you buy the Sony A9 for its speed and the black-out less EVF, and I guess A9 owners are ok with sacrificing a bit of IQ for that. The Fujifilm X-Pro2 can’t for sure keep up with the AF-tracking capabilities of the Sony A9 (and also not with the tracking capability of the Fujifilm X-T2).

Check out more at the dedicated Sony A9 Vs. Fuji X-Pro2 lab test IQ Comparison thread at dpreview

Fuji X-T2 Electronic Shutter for Sports. As good as Sony A9?

dsphotoblog tested the Fujifilm X-T2 for sports using the electronic shutter. The point of the video is to show that the X-T2 electronic shutter is also really good and give you a EVF-lag-less experience. So he concludes that:

  • A9 is overpriced
  • A9 mechanical shutter very slow (5fps) whereas the X-T2 shoots at 11fps
  • Fujifilm X-T2 better value for money
  • with booster grip, also the X-T2 electronic shutter shows no EVF lag
