Fujifilm X-T20 Will Get Extensive Firmware Update Early 2018 – Fujifilm Germany

There Will Be Kaizen… for X-T20

*** NEW FIRMWARE TODAY ***
for X-T1, X100F and X-T20.
All details here

Fujifilm just ended 2017 with a bunch of firmware updates, some definitely worth to be called Kaizen, like the one for the X-T2 last month and the upcoming X-Pro2 firmware.

However, X-T20 owners were not so lucky, and basically could enjoy just the new EVF/Touch screen feature. Hence, all X-T20 were disappointed not to get the faster AF-tracking, the highlight blinkies, the RGB histogram and more.

But there is hope :)

Fujifilm Germany said in the comments (back on December 1) to one of their facebook posts (google translated):

The x-T20 will get this feature [X RAW Studio support] with an extensive firmware update. The update is expected to be available early / spring 2018. Unfortunately, implementation is not possible for all models at the same time.”

If Fujifilm Germany has correct information, then it is just a matter of time, and also Fujifilm X-T20 owners will get their Kaizen Love. And considering how successful the X-T20 line is, the “extensive X-T20 firmware update” in early 2018 will make many photographers happy.

Thanks to the FR-reader, who just dropped me this link. As you can see, it seems a news only exists once it is on FujiRumors. So even though the comment is old, there were no reports about it on the web.

However, what I don’t see, you see it. Thanks a TON for your support. It means everything to me. Feel free to keep up sharing :)

FUJIFILM X100F, X-T1 and X-T20 Firmware Updates Released + X100F New Features Guide Manual

Fujifilm just released the new firmware updates for X-T20, X-T1 and X100F.

The Fujifilm X100F also gets a New Features Guide Manual here.

Also the X-Pro2 should also get a big firmware update soon.

NOTE: a FR-reader said in the comments he contacted Fujifilm, who confirmed to him that Fujifilm will be providing X Raw Studio support for the X-T20 within the first quarter of 2018.

LEAKED: This is the Fujifilm X-H1

Christmas is that time of the year, where our trusted Japanese source wants to make us all its traditional present in form of some nice leaks :) . And this time, it shared with us its self-made accurate sketch of the Fujifilm X-H1.

If you think it’s just a fake, then see how it sketched the X-Pro2 two years ago here… identical to the real thing, right?

Also in this case, that’s how the X-H1 will really look like. On the day you will see the real thing, you won’t notice any difference over this sketch… except maybe for a few almost invisible “errors” I asked the Japanese source to make, in oder to track back those site, who copycat. Changes are almost invisible, don’t worry ;)

We see:

  • the much bigger hand grip compared to the X-T2. Look basically identical to the one of the Fujifilm GFX 50S.
  • the lack of exposure compensation dial.

stay tuned for more :)

Top and Back?

And the back and top sketch? Wait a bit… there is a reason for the delay. Will explain later.

But don’t miss it when it goes online, and click on the “bell-icon” on the bottom right of your browser to enable browser push notifications and follow us on Facebook, RSS-feed and Twitter, Instagram as well as our Fujifilm X-H1 facebook group, which is gaining hundreds of X-H1 interested people every day.

X-T2 Vs. X-H1 Size

This is a very accurate sketch, but there could millimetric proportion differences to the original, since it’s drawn by hand. And yet, I decided to match the sketch with the mount of the real X-T2, to see if it confirms that the X-H1 is bigger. A comparison that does not pretend to be 100% perfect, because it’s a sketch and also because it’s not easy to match 100% perfectly the mout size. You can try it by your own if you want and then share in the comments (with fujirumors.com watermark ;) )

But before we share the size comparison…

…. KNGO just dropped me this image from Cambodia and wanted to say a quick “Thank You” to all of you guys.

They received all $5,000 from the various charity initiatives we have made on FR such as our fair trade T-shirts and your support went 100% into free education for these kids. And I want to assure KNGO, that our support won’t end here :)

Of course, you don’t have to wait the next FR-charity action to support these kids. KNGO has a Donate Page, where you can drop a few bucks via paypal. If you were looking for a X-mas donation to make somewhere, I can warmly recommend to support KNGO.

Fujifilm Plans 10/15 more Lenses for GFX in the Next 5 Years… and Correcting More Wrong Rumors

I’m in the rumor world since many years now, and I know it’s not easy to share accurate information. It’s way more complicated than you think.

This is why I never shout “fake clickbait rumors“, when I read some wrong rumors that surface on the web.

All I do in those cases, is to correct those wrong rumors, so that you guys have an accurate idea of what Fujifilm is going to launch (or not).

And today, it’s my job to correct some wrong rumors that I think have been shared with good will, but are nevertheless wrong.

I have the choice to leave them wrong, or correct them. And I decided to correct them. With great respect to the source though, who I think shared really what it heard.

No shitstorm, no hate, just a little help to get closer to the truth (and I know that it’s not easy, believe me).

Wrong Rumor 1
25/30 lenses for GFX in the next 5 years?

GFX lovers, don’t have too high expectations. Fujifilm will not have 25 or even 30 GF lenses in total within the next 5 years.

The current schedule is to release 2/3 GF lenses a year, so this means maximum 10 to 15 GF more lenses will be added in the next 5 years.

Add to these 10/15 lenses the current 6 GF lenses, and we will have from 16 to a maximum of 21 GF lenses 5 years from now (not bad at all!)

But the only way for Fujifilm to have a total of 30 GF lenses 5 years from now, would be to stop developling lenses for X-mount ;)

Wrong Rumor 2
GF 80-180 ?

Sorry guys, Fujifilm has no plans for such a lens. Again, I invite you to check out this secret GF roadmap (which shows a 100-200 lens, though ;) ). There is no GF 80-180 on Fuji’s internal roadmap.

Wrong Rumor 3
Fujifilm X-H1 will have a different processor?

Nope. It’s the same X Processor Pro used in X-T2, GFX, X-Pro2 etc. I might publish a more in-depth article later on about this. But at the end of the day there is no doubt that the X-H1 will get its power from the good old X Processor Pro.

Message to source I have corrected

I have corrected some of your rumors, and publicly on FujiRumors I can’t say more than this.

But privately and confidentially, and of course only with permission of my sources, I can give you a more in-depth and detailed insight behind the scenes of what my current Fuji long-term knowledge is and if you want we can compare our knowledge.

If you want, feel free to contact me via email creating a fake email account if you feel more comfortable.

Message to sources in general

As I said above… rumors are always complicated. So even if you think “Ah, Patrick will probably already know it”, don’t hesitate to contact me. Given the amount of fake rumors I get, even every double/triple confirmation I can get is extremely useful for me.

stay tuned… the best has yet to come :)

Fujifilm X-H1 will have Same X-Processor Pro of X-T2… Film Simulation “Eterna” X-T2 Kaizen Update Possible?

X-Processor Pro

According to our sources, the Fujifilm X-H1 will have the same X-Processor Pro of the Fujifilm X-T2.

This is great news for X-Pro2, X-T2, X-T20, X100F and X-E3 owners, as it gives us hope that “Eterna“, Fujifilm’s new film simulation, will come also to those cameras via Kaizen update.

Let me explain it…

but before that… our X-H group is exploding… you are welcome to join :)

Film Simulation Kaizen Update for X-T2 & Co?

Now, film simulations are a “processor thing“.

This means that cameras featuring an older processor will not support film simulations, that have been introduced in cameras with newer processors. So, for example, the Acros film simulation on the X-T2 & Co cameras with X-Processor Pro, will never be implemented on Fuji cameras with older and slower EXR processors like the X-T1.

But since the X-H1 features the same same X-Processor Pro of the X-T2 and friends, there is hope that “Eterna” will come also to older X-Processor Pro cameras.

more… and more… and more… is coming :)

Fujifilm X-T2, X-T20 and GFX 50S Firmware Update on Thursday, November 30

Fujifilm will update the Fujifilm X-T2, X-T20 and GFX 50s on November 30 (Thursday).

List of improvements:

Fujifilm Netherlands recently said here that the Fujifilm X-T20 firmware update has been postponed. But I guess Fujifilm was able to fix all issues and is ready to release it on time. You see, even Fujifilm itself can share wrong rumors now and then ;) .

FujiRumors Recommends

  1. Update your camera in any case, even if you do not need the features/improvements that come with this specific firmware update. Fujifilm often implements “undocumented fixes“, which can be as small as a typo in the menu, but also more significant bug fixes and improvements.
  2. To be 100% safe, though, do not update your camera on the same day you need your camera for a paid assignment. In very rare cases, firmware updates can introduce new bugs. If you need your camera on a paid job, wait a few days, check back fujirumors.com to see if there are some bugs with the new firmware in the following days, and if there are no reports, update your camera. But with that said, in 99% of the cases a new firmware will only improve things, and not make them worst. So at the end, always update.

Top Fujifilm Product 2017

Ok guys…

I don’t think Fujifilm has something significant to launch still in 2017, so it’s a good moment to ask you, what was the most exciting Fujifilm product of 2017 according to you.

Last year, we had a clear winner, the currently discounted Fujifilm X-T2, with 46% of your preferences. I’m curious to see if also this year the results will be so clear.

I will include again the Fujifilm GFX 50S in the poll, because the official announcement with final specs and price took place only in January 2017.

I will not include the graphite X-T2 and graphite X-Pro2 + XF23mmF2 that have been announced at the beginning of January 2017. Also not included are the Instax Square SQ10 Hybrid camera (currently discounted for Black Friday) and the Instax Share SP-3 Square printer, as well as Fujifilm’s Kaizen firmware udpates.

And remember… not only the very Top Fujifilm Managers officially “Love” Fujirumors, but FujiRumors is by very far Fujifilm’s Nr.1 resource for online feedback*, thanks to your terrific participation.

It goes so far, that Fujifilm even displays our polls in internal meetings. Looks like they simply can’t ignore a community that is able to drop 11,000 votes in a single poll within 2 days ;).

So time for you to let Fujifilm know what you particulary liked this year… and keep up being so active and constructive here on FR, so that Fujifilm will keep up reading this blog and your comments/feedback also in 2018 ;) .
