THE X-T2 LEAK

UK store Cameraworld just published its X-T2 product presentation… happy reading :)

Oh… they also say a new roadmap will come as well as an X-Pro2 FW update… and at the very bottom some EF-X500 images

From Cameraworld UK X-T2 Page

FUJIFILM have announced the ultimate mirrorless digital camera FUJIFILM X-T2 that delivers creative perfection. The Fujifilm X-T2 offers outstanding image quality with FUJIFILM’s colour reproduction formulated over 80 years, advanced AutoFocus functions and 4K high definition video.

On September 8th 2016, the company will release the FUJIFILM X-T2 – the ultimate mirrorless digital camera that uses advanced technologies to achieve premium image quality, outstanding operability and beautiful design reminiscent of traditional cameras.

The successor to the extremely popular X-T1, the Fujifilm X-T2 builds upon solid foundations to become the flagship DSLR-Style camera from Fujifilm. As part of the 5 Year Anniversary of the X-Series, the X-T2 is not only beautiful to hold, but rightly deserves it’s place as the premium camera for those who want both style and substance to the Mirrorless Range.

Fujifilm X-T2

The Fujifilm X-T2 combines the sensor and image processing engine developed by Fujifilm, with an ultra-sharp range of FUJINON lenses for excellent image resolution. Fujifilm’s colour-reproduction technology, formulated over 80 years, delivers images of unparalleled quality and realism, recording a subject’s textures, three-dimensional feel and even the atmosphere surrounding it.  Utilizing the same sensor as the Flagship rangerfinder-style, X-Pro2, the Fujifilm X-T2 incorporates a 24.3Million Pixels X-Trans CMOS III which produces incredible, pin-sharp results.

The X-T2’s compact and lightweight camera body is also dust-resistant, water-resistant and capable of operating at temperatures as low as -10°C. Its autofocus and electronic viewfinder performance have both been substantially improved, making it more adaptable than ever before at shooting a moving subject under difficult conditions, such as sports or wildlife photography, which had previously been considered difficult with mirrorless cameras.

For the first time in the X Series, the X-T2 supports 4K video recording. The Film Simulation modes, used for still images, can be applied to video to easily produce premium-quality footage.

The X-T2’s design is modelled after the “central viewfinder style” of the FUJIFILM X-T1, which has been popular since its launch in 2014. This proven stable form factor provides a camera that is perfectly sized with ergonomic dials laid out exactly where they are needed for excellent, intuitive operability.

Fujifilm X-T2: First Impressions

The X-T2 is to become the X Series’ flagship model along with FUJIFILM X-Pro2, the world’s only rangefinder-style camera with the Hybrid Multi Viewfinder, released in March this year.  The two models deliver unparalleled performance in their distinctive fields, with the X-T2 excelling in portraiture, nature and sports photography, and the X-Pro2 ideal for snapshots and discreet documentary photography.

In short, Fujifilm have listened to every comment made about the X-T1, and even the X-Pro2, and added the results together in this stunning camera that produces amazing results in every shot, but also reacts as fast as you need in any given situation.  Faster, stronger, and ultimately better results make this an ideal choice of camera for those who want the perfect photographic experience.

VPB-XT2: Vertical Power Booster

Not just any accessory, this is THE must have accessory to maximise the X-T2’s power and take it to it’s fullest potential.

It is dust-resistant, water-resistant and capable of operating at temperatures as low as -10°C. It fits two batteries, bringing the total number of batteries to three, including the one on the camera, to increase the maximum number of frames that can be taken per charge to approx. 1,000 (Normal mode).

In the Boost mode, multiple batteries can operate at the same time to give a boost to camera performance in continuous shooting, shooting interval, shutter release time lag and blackout time, while also extending the duration of 4K video recording to approx. 30 minutes. It is an accessory that can maximize the performance of the X-T2.

Fujifilm VPB-XT2: Vertical Power Booster

The Grip features the shutter release button, focus lever, AE-L button, AF-L button, command dials, Q button and Fn button to provide the same level of excellent operability in vertical shooting as you get in horizontal operation.

The Grip also features a headphone jack to enable audio monitoring during video recording.

The Grip itself has battery-charging functionality. Using the AC adapter supplied (AC-9VS), you can fully charge two batteries at the same time in approx. 2 hours.

EF-X500 Flash

The EF-X500 is a hot-shoe mount flash with the maximum guide number of approx. 50. Its support for the FP mode (high-speed flash sync) means the flash can be fired at any shutter speed. This means you can concentrate on shooting when a faster shutter speed is required, for example, in order to use a near-maximum aperture to produce beautiful bokeh.

EF-X500 also supports multi-flash lighting. Set up multiple flashes to freely control light on a subject and background for a creative result. TTL lighting control is available with single flash and also in the multi-flash setup, so that you can start shooting without having to make cumbersome adjustments to light output.

Only 3 of the 7 rumored Lenses will show up in New Fujifilm Lens Roadmap July 7… and I tell you which ones ;-)

The July 7 Fujifilm Lens Roadmap according to FujiRumors

_No Risk, No Fun

As you know, here on FujiRumors I’m not afraid of sharing long-term rumors, even though they are a “risk” for me to share. Fuji just changes plans so often, that what was a correct rumor at the time of sharing, can sometimes be wrong later on.

I could make a dozen of examples, but let’s just pick out one: Fuji X-Pro1s! It was spot on at the time of sharing in 2013, it’s just Fuji changed plans later on (I told you about it in 2014). The rumor has been confirmed by Fujifilm itself in 2016, by showing to the world an X-Pro1s protoype here.

So you see, long term rumors are always a risk for me. And I know it’s the main reason I’ll never be 100% right.

The Roadmap Is Coming… with 3 of the 7 rumored lenses

I’ve worked on it on the last few days, since I wanted to be as sure as possible, and now I just got the final confirmation: the new roadmap (to be released July 7 along with the X-T2), will include only a few of the rumored lenses.

But Note: all the rumors about all the lenses I’ve shared were right at the time of sharing, with just one doubt: the 8mm rumor (more about it later).

Here are the 7 rumored lenses:

From the list above, only the following 3 will be included in the upcoming lens roadmap

  • 23mmF2
  • 50mmF2
  • 80mm Macro

Reminder: the 120 Macro (still in the official roadmap) has been cancelled (as rumored first here then here)!

Lenses (still) not included in the upcoming July 7 roadmap

  • 200mm(F2)
  • 8-16mmF2.8
  • 33mmF1.0
  • 8mmF2

Keep in mind: these lenses are on Fuji’s plans (except the 8mm probably, more about it later).

However, all these lenses are so far away from release, that Fuji prefers not to share them in the roadmap for now. They want to avoid another mistake, like the one of the 120mm Macro (still officially in roadmap), that, according to my sources, will be canceled and become the 80mm Macro lens.

Regarding the 33mmF1.0, this lens was 100% part of the talks and developments of Fujifilm. But, as I told you here, the unexpected success of the small and cheap 35mmF2 (Fuji is making massive money with that one) has caused a sudden lens strategy change at Fujifilm: cheap, small and weather resistant instead of big, heavy and expensive.

And what about the 8mm? Well, the source, who shared it, has proven to be reliable (it’s the source, who told us a FW will make the X-T1 video button a FN button). But I think that maybe it mistake the 8mm with the 8-16 or Fujifilm, as so often, changed plans on such a lens.

I know, when on July 7 the lens roadmap shows only 3 of the 7 rumored lenses, there will be a massive shitstorm on me. So I’ll prepare my jacket and helmet… ;)

But if you are not a FR hater or troll, I think you just got the point of this post and how rumors work: a lens that is not on the roadmap, is not necessarily a lens that isn’t on Fuji’s plans. And a lens that is in the roadmap, isn’t necessarily a lens Fuji will really make at the end (you’ll miss the 120mm in the next roadmap).

X-DAY JULY 7 :: Fujifilm EF-X500 Flash Pricing to be Announced too (available in September)

Fujifilm EF-X500 flash

ef-x500

Fujifilm EF-X500 flash

Ah, the Fujifilm EF-X500 flash… an almost mythical device. Long rumored, then delayed (due to Metz insolvency), then officially announced in January 2016 along with the X-Pro2, then promised to be available in May, then again delayed to September.

However, slowly but surely, the flash saga is going to end. Fujifilm will announce its worldwide pricing on July 7. The flash will be available in September according to Fujifilm

On the same day Fujifilm will announce the Fujifilm X-T2 and a New Fuji Lens Roadmap.

Skin Tones – Fuji 56/1.2 vs Sony 85mm GM, Canon 85/1.2 L, Zeiss Batis 85, & Panasonic Leica 42.5/1.2

NEW GUEST POST FEATURE
Write Your Articles Directly On FujiRumors!

By Rick Birt of Romeo Bravo Photo

Like most serious photographers, I mostly shoot RAW.  However, both my wife and I have clients that just want jpgs straight out of the camera.  This wasn’t a problem with my wife’s old Canon 1Ds mkII that I first started with, but it was with my Sony a7R II.  The out-of-camera (OOC) jpg files produce less than desirable skin tones. I know about the glorious Fuji colors, and I use Fuji simulations in some of my post-processing.  After reading numerous glowing reports about Fuji OOC jpg colors, I decided to rent a Fujifilm X-Pro2 with a 56/1.2.  I’ve also read great things about Olympus jpg colors so I added an Olympus Pen-F with a Panasonic Leica Nocticron 42.5/1.2.

I wanted to judge skin tones in both OOC jps, and after processing RAW files in Lightroom (my version of Capture One doesn’t recognize the new Fuji RAW).

So, I grabbed my wife, and fellow photographer, Kelly Williams and we shot all Saturday afternoon.

So lets look at the OOC jpgs…

Fujifilm X-T2 with Dual SD-Card slot (both UHS-II compatible) + Clarifying the Heat-Thing with the new batteries!

july 7

6 months of X-T2 rumors… and in a few days it will be finally here! But ’till then, the rumor work is not over.

So here are 2 more details I’d like to share with you (and they come from 2 different sources).

  1. The Fujfiilm X-T2 will have dual SD-card slot (nothing new), but the source says both will be UHS-II compatible (on the X-Pro2 only 1 is UHS-II ready)
  2. I told you several times about the new batteries, which should solve the heat issue and allow 4K shooting. And that’s what they will do: they’ll manage heat better. Now, it’s rather technical discussion, but it might be possible that the batteries actually don’t really create less heat, they just manage/dissipate it better. The source also gave me a more technical explanation, but I think all we have to know is this: the new heat managment of the new batteries will prevent overheating and allow 4K shooting.

So, that’s it. I’m quite exhausted, but still alive, and excited… and ready to push you to July 7, when, finally, the X-T2 will be presented to the world!

Fujifilm Patents XF16-55mmF2.8… with OIS !

OIS

XF16-55mmF2.8 OIS len

egami spotted the following patent: an XF16-55mmF2.8 OIS lens… yep, with OIS!

Fujifilm received quite a shitstorm because of the lack of OIS in the XF16-55mmF2.8. The official explanation why Fujifilm didn’t implement OIS in the 16-55 can be found here:

OIS needs to move the lens inside to compensate for camera shake and as a result can cause loss of resolution in the edges of the image. In long zoom lens such as the XF50-140mmF2.8, the angle of view is narrow enough to not show this negative effect of OIS in the edges. However, the angle of view of the XF16-55mm, when set to the widest setting, is large enough for OIS to affect resolution at the edge of the image. Considering this trade-off, because we wanted this zoom lens to start wide at 16mm and F2.8, and we wanted to best edge-to-edge quality throughout the entire zoom range, we decided to not employ OIS.”

Fujifilm patent applications corresponds to the anti-vibration 16-55mm F2.8 but is an optical system, the was released is not an anti-vibration 16-55mm F2.8 It was. Since the anti-vibration corresponding to the lens is bloated, is that of to have to dare not designed with anti-vibration. Or if there the Kai, XF FUJINON 16-55Mm F2.8 It is R LM WR good lens of reputation.

But better to hesitation that it is not in the anti-vibration would be many. Because when you pursue the optical performance lens resulting in a bloated, Sony and Olympus , as, in the telephoto lens Dual IS, I standard system is perhaps good to within the body anti-shake.

New Fujifilm NP-W126 MK II Battery will Generate Less Heat (Trusted Source)

Fujifilm NP-W126

Fujifilm NP-W126 MK II

I’ve received the rumor (from trusted source) that the new Fujifilm NP-W126 batteries will handle heat better. Less heat generation allows us to shoot 4K and use the full power of the X-T2 (via “boost” function on the Vertical Grip).

I remind you that Fuji Guy Billy said here, the X-Pro2 can’t shoot 4K, because it can’t dissipate heat properly.

No word about higher capacity batteries.

End of the Rumor

As far as I know (but correct me if I’m wrong), the main sources of heat generation are:

  • Sensor
  • Processor
  • Batteries
  • Writing on SD-cards
  • Screen/EVF

Heat disspiation is a major problem with mirrorless cameras. Fujifilm could solve all problems, by making the X-T2 camera body significantly larger, but most of us love the compact size of the X-series mirroless cameras.

Also, if you want to maximize the power of the X-T2, you can’t really minimize the heat generated by the sensor, processor, EVF refresh rate or SD-card writing process. So the only thing left where Fujifilm could work on in order to solve the heat-issue are the batteries.

TESTED: Third Party Fuji Batteries? “Inflated capacity values. Some batteries almost Fraud!”… and the Winner is…?
