RUMOR: Fujifilm X-T5 with Dual SD-Card Slots (no CFexpress)

I must say that I am a bit relieved to hear (and share) this rumor, because it is going to save me hundreds of dollars ;)

The Fujifilm X-T5 will have dual SD-card slots (no CFexpress compatibility).

For my type of shooting (no crazy ultra high fps bursts), UHS-II SD-Cards are fast enough to have a smooth and pleasing shooting experience.

So when I get my Fujifilm X-T5, I won’t have to spend more money into CFexpress cards. I just use the plenty of SD-Cards I already have at home.

But I am curious to hear what you guys think about it. Maybe for some of you this is a dealbreaker?

Well Observed: Fujifilm X-T5 with Manual MCS Switch and D-Pad

Yesterday I leaked the mock-ups of the Fujifilm X-T5, which you can see here.

You can notice that the mock-ups show a D-Pad and a dedicated manual MCS switch (as opposed to the X-H2/S, which have an FN button there)

Since I never specifically rumored the D-Pad and MCS switch, quite often the question came up in the comments asking me if this means that MCS and D-pad are confirmed. So let me answer this very clearly in a dedicated article: yes, the Fujifilm X-T5 will have a manual MCS switch and a D-Pad.

Fujifilm X-T5 Mock-Up (Almost Perfectly Accurate, Except for…)

Ok guys, so how does the Fujifilm X-T5 look like?

Well, according to our sources you could basically imagine it as a smaller X-T4 with the 3 way tilt screen of the Fujifilm X-T3.

But there are some minor details that we will try to illustrate with some renderings we made below.

And to be clear: what you see below is NOT the real Fujifilm X-T5, but the final thing will be very close to what you see here. The only difference between these mock-ups and the real Fujifilm X-T5 will be that the size of the X-T5 (for example the real X-T5 is a bit narrower) and the grip is slightly different. The mock-ups use the grip of the X-T4 because that grip is closer to the real X-T5 than the grip of any other X-T camera.

Overall, let’s put it down like this: these mock-ups are so close to the real Fujifilm X-T5, that when the real X-T5 leaks very soon, you will find the leaked images very boring ;).

ANSWERED: Fujifilm X-T5 will come in Black and Silver

When I asked what you’d like to know about the Fujifilm X-T5, there were quite some guys asking me if it would come in black and silver (many of you asked me also privately via email or social media).

And I can see why you ask me this.

Fujifilm is offering the Fujifilm X-H2 and X-H2S in black, when they launched the Fujifilm X-T3WW it also came just in black, and even the X-T4 silver started to get discontinued.

It all looked like Fujifilm was giving up on the silver color.

But not with the Fujifilm X-T5.

If you like your X-T camera in silver, then, according to our sources, you can rest assured that the Fujifilm X-T5 will be offered in black and silver.

Now feel free to let us know in the survey down below which color you prefer.

Personally, I owned black as well as silver X-T cameras. I’d be happy with either color. Maybe the silver color gives a bit more of a vintage touch, but the all black version looks so sexy too. I guess I am one of those who’d be happy with both cameras, and I will struggle until the last minute before I place my X-T5 pre-order.

RUMOR: Fujifilm X-T5 Sub-Dial – Movie/Stills or Metering Mode Switch? The Answer Now on FujiRumors!

When I told you that the Fujifilm X-T5 will go back to using the lovely 3 way tilt screen we find on the Fujifilm X-T3, some people hoped that Fujifilm would also get rid of the dedicated X-T4 movie/stills sub-dial and revert back to the metering mode sub-dial on the Fujifilm X-T3.

And guys, I am totally with you! I’d also prefer the X-T5 to have a metering switch.

But that’s just my preference. For many others, a dedicated Movie/Stills switch makes more sense.

Well, today we can report that the Fujifilm X-T5 will still have a dedicated movie/stills sub-dial switch.

Not a dealbreaker at all for me, especially considering that everything else we have shared about the Fujifilm X-T5 so far sounds amazing! ;)… and I can map a function button for that purpose.

Oh… and if you have more information in anything regarding Fuji’s future, feel free to use the revived rumor box… we are always happy to receive accurate rumors there ;)

Fujifilm X-T5 to cost €1,999 (and $1,699)

We just told you that the Fujifilm X-T5 will cost $1,699and I wrote in that article that I consider the fact that the price of the X-T5 will be the same of the X-T4 is actually a good news in my eyes.

But here in Europe, the Fujifilm X-T5 won’t cost the same of the X-T4, as I have been told that the Fujifilm X-T5 will be sold for €1,999, which is €200 more than the Fujifilm X-T4.

As some of you pointed out in the comments, the strong dollar certainly does not help to keep the price in Euro low.

And while the X-T5 in Europe won’t sadly cost the same of the X-T4, we can also see that the price difference between the Fujifilm X-H2 and X-T5 is more or less the same in Europe and USA, as in USA the X-T5 will cost $300 less than the X-H2 and in Europe it will cost €250 less than in USA.

Photons to Photos Fujifilm X-H2 Dynamic Range Data Shows Best Base ISO Dynamic Range on X series

Photons to Photos just published its data regarding the sensor performance of the 40 megapixel Fujifilm X-H2.

We see that at base ISO the Fujifilm X-H2 has the best dynamic range of all Fujifilm cameras thanks to its new native ISO125.

Dual conversion gain is at ISO 500.

An astonishing result for a camera with significantly more megapixel than any other X series camera. And remember, the Fujifilm X-T5 will have the same sensor of the Fujifilm X-H2, so the results of the X-T5 will be pretty much identical to the one of the X-H2.

Crazy inflation, chronic parts shortage, skyrocketing energy prices… the perfect storm to make prices on all kind of products rise fast.

So, given the situation, I frankly had big concerns about the possible Fujifilm X-T5 price.

Concerns, that I must say are now quite gone.

In fact, I hear that the Fujifilm X-T5 will be sold for $1,699.

So basically that’s the same price of the Fujifilm X-T4, but we remind you that the Fujifilm X-T5 will have a new 40MP sensor and the new X-Processor 5.

Why Fujifilm Retro Dials are Superior to PSAM Dials

There is this notion that cameras with a PSAM dial are faster to operate than cameras with dedicated retro dials, which slow you down.

And you know what? I get your point!

Imagine you are at a wedding, lots of things happening, tons of pictures to take, your eye glued on the viewfinder capturing all the precious moments.

And having photographed a wedding myself, I can say that conditions change all the time: indoors and outdoor, fast moving and static subjects, group shots and portraits, natural light and artificial light, low light and bright daylight…

In short: whoever is a wedding photographer out there, must be a very skilled allrounder and constantly master all possible photographic conditions.

And from this point of view, being able to quickly adjust all your settings by just turning the front and rear command dial while keeping your eye glued on the viewfinder can be extremely convenient.

So case closed, right? PSAM is for Pros, and Retro is for less demanding photography.

Well, not really.
