This 3D Printed Fujifilm X100V Case Gives You X-Pro3 Alike Hidden Screen

I am probably one of the few out there, who finds the hidden screen of the Fujifilm X-Pro3 a certainly audacious, but also interesting concept. And overall, if I’d have to choose between a rangefinder alike Fujifilm camera with selfie screen or one with hidden screen, I’d go for he hidden one.

Don’t get me wrong, I don’t hate selfie screens (in fact it was a true blessing to have one on my X-T4 during my online teaching lessons), but I feel like there are some myths around them that have to be debunked, and I’ve tried to do so in this article.

With that said, if you are one of those who might be intrigued by the hidden screen concept but own a Fujifilm X100V, then here on etsy there is a little 3D printed X100V case that will hide your screen and make it more X-Pro3 alike.

The Fujifilm X100V itself, though, is out of stock almost everywhere since several weeks now. And so is lots of other Fujifilm gear, probably mainly due to the shortage on parts announced by Fujifilm.

ePHOTOzine Fujifilm X-E4 Review: “You Can’t Deny How Beautiful it Looks!”

I always told you that Fujifilm X-E line cameras are Fujifilm’s best looking cameras (after the X100 line cameras).

Now this is official, as ePHOTOzine writes in their review.

one thing you can’t deny is how good it looks

I owned all X-E cameras (except for the mysterious X-E2S, still today I wonder if it was worth for Fujifilm to release a new camera just for single AUTO button). And if I would not yet own the X-Trans IV Fuji X-T4, I’d grab the X-E4 immediately, as I love the hidden LCD screen on the X-E4. But there must a be reasonable limit to the gear I buy ;).

Now I put all my hope in a Fujifilm X-E5 with newer sensor that keeps the hidden screen. For that one, I’ll sell my X-E3 and X-T4.

Back to the review. ePHOTOzine ends up highly recommend the Fujifilm X-E4. Here are their Pros and Cons:

Pros:

  • Beautiful styling and looks
  • Most affordable 26mp Fujifilm camera
  • Compact and well-made body
  • Great image quality and noise performance
  • High-speed AF and continuous shooting
  • Wide range of X-mount lenses

Cons:

  • Exposure compensation dial easily knocked
  • Lacks of in-camera IS, and no digital IS for video
  • Fewer controls, and lack of grip without the accessory pack
  • Small buttons

Fujifilm Product Timeline 2021/2022: About X-H2, GFX50SII, XF150-600 and More (And What Will NOT Come)

FUJIFILM 2021/2022
RUMORED PRODUCT RELEASE TIMELINE

Time to update our previous X and GFX gear timeline, which was not only limited to 2021, but lacked of some gear we rumored in the following months.

Also, I’ll include a list of products that will not come as the fake rumors keep spreading and I notice a tendency in forums to believe just everything that is written or talked about somewhere, may it be a monochrome camera, and X-T40 with IBIS coming very soon, the X-H2 coming 2021 and totally random stuff like that.

But luckily there is a 100% efficient anti-fake-rumors-vaccine called FujiRumors, so check out the list down below to know what Fujifilm really plans and when it will come.

And it won’t end here.

In fact, I have a skype call scheduled with the Japanese source in very near future. After the last call a few weeks ago, we dropped a couple of rumor-bombs (X-H2 details, the end of X-Trans IV, no more X cameras in 2021, the new GF zoom to come second half 2021 and more stuff I am not allowed to share just yet).

I expect that also our next call will be very interesting.

In case you’d like to know what it shared with us, feel free to follow FujiRumors and get updates via Facebook, RSS-feed and Twitter.

But until then, here is the most updated list of gear to come (and gear that won’t come).

IT IS OVER: Fujifilm X-E4 is Fuji’s Last X-Trans IV Camera

It’s over!

Not only the Fujifilm X-E4 will be the last X series camera to come this year, but according to our sources it will also be the last one to feature the excellent X-Trans IV sensor!

The 26MP X-Trans IV sensor was used first on the Fujifilm X-T3, followed by the X-T30, X-Pro3, X100V, X-T4, X-S10 and last but not least the X-E4.

It’s still a great sensor with top-notch technology. Backside illuminated, full phase detection coverage, copper wiring for faster sensor readout. It’s the same technology we find in flagship cameras of other brands such as the Sony Alpha a7R IV.

And the future?

Fujifilm managers already hinted multiple times like in this interview and also here, that the future will bring more megapixel to the X series.

Which sensor technology will be used? Will it really be that 43 Megapixel 8K stacked BSI sensor?

Questions, riddles and enigmas that FujiRumors is trying to answer for you.

All I can say for now is that, after an explosive start in 2021, Fuji’s current quietness is only apparent. Behind the scenes great things are planed, and if you’d like to get a secret glimpse into them, following FujiRumors is the way to go.

BREAKING: No More Fujifilm X Series Camera Coming in 2021

It’s not easy to believe, but it’s true: the Fujifilm X-E4 launched in January 2021 will be the one and only X series cameras that Fujifilm will launch in 2021. That’s according to our trusted sources.

As far as I can remember, it will be the first year ever, that Fujifilm launches one (1) Fujifilm X series camera only.

I can feel your disbelief, but trust me, it’s 100% accurate.

Personally I think that the combo between X-T4 and X-S10 is an excellent competitor in the market also for 2021, hence no hurry to come out with more cameras.

On the other hand, it’s great to see that Fujifilm is pushing on releasing new lenses so far in 2021 and it looks like also in 2022. That has often not been the case in the past few years, with Fujifilm gravitating towards pushing camera bodies instead of glass.

But which lenses will come?

Well, you can take a look at our rumored 2021/2022 Fujinon X Lens roadmap for a more comprehensive explanation. But since I know 99,999% of you prefer stuff ultra compact and short, here is the short list:

And let’s hope the list of lenses to come in 2021 will be even longer than the one we rumored.

MEGA DEAL on Fujinon XF200mmF2 and More Coming also to USA (but It’s Ridiculous if You Ask Me)

The Mega Deals

Fujifilm Europe launched an absolutely stunning deal on the Fujinon XF200mmF2 with a €2,000 discount, as well as huge deals on other lenses.

I have been now told (thanks), that similar deals will start also in USA. The deals will include a massive rebate on the XF200mmF2, too.

I don’t know if also the Fujifilm X-T4 will be included, but the fact that there is a first $100 rebate popping up on the X-T4 body only, might indicate that the X-T4 will be included.

XF200mmF2 – Fit for Fujifilm X-H2

When Fujifilm developed the Fujinon XF200mmF2, they indication to engineers was simple: achieve best image quality, no matter what!

And I can tell you from my own experience with this lens, that you’ll get a ridiculous sharpness out of it. So now wonder it gets only 5 star ratings!

The XF200mmF2 is clearly underperforming on current Fujifilm cameras, and once the high resolution Fujifilm X-H2 drops on the market in 2022, it will finally unlock its full potential.

Considering the image quality and the fact that it comes with a newly designed 1.4x teleconverter, I always thought that 6K is actually a fair price for how it performs. And soon, with such a big rebate, I definitely call it a steal.

The Ridiculous Thing is…

Ok, so Fujifilm is going to drop a massive deal on the Fujinon XF200mmF2 all over the world.

But the ridiculous thing is that Fujifilm is launching a massive rebate on a lens, the XF200mmF2, that right now is mostly out of stock.

I mean, I’d understand if they’d launched a deal on a lens that is getting dust in the warehouses and they can’t get rid of. But adding a huge rebate on a lens that clearly is short on stock, well, I am afraid that will lead to biblical waiting times for those, who order it.

So, in any case, if you are interested in one, definitely order quickly as soon as the deals are available. At the moment there are some availabe at BHphoto here and one single sample at AmazonUS here.

In short: it’s amazing!

A more in depth comparison with the Sony A1 will follow, but some tidbits he already delivered in this review.

IN CROP WE TRUST: The Lens I Chose to Start my GFX System Adventure and Talking 102 Megapixel Crops & Prints

My First GF Lens

So guys, the decision has been made.

In the last second, I took advantage of the €500 rebate on selected Fujinon GF lenses and I bought the Fujinon GF32-64mmF4, which was your most recommended G mount lens for landscape photography. Thanks for helping me out with the decision :).

I still don’t own it, as like everywhere on the world, Fujinon G mount lenses are a rare good.

In fact, when I went to my local store, the store owner told me that since Fujifilm launched the GFX100S, sales for GFX gear went through the roof.  He also told me that for many of his customers, the Fujifilm GFX100S is their first GFX camera and this also pushes sales for G mount lenses. That’s why they run out of stock constantly.

So I had to put myself in line, and now I wait for a lens that is harvesting 5 star reviews all over the web:

In Crop we Trust

Now, if you have read my GF lens help article, you’ll know that over the last few years, I somehow shifted from privileging dramatic wide angle shots to focusing more on compressed landscape shots.

This is why I was hesitant between getting the GF32-64mmF4 or the GF45-100mmF4 to start with.

But here is the thing: I can’t get into my frame parts of a landscape scenery that are too wide for my lens (unless I stich). On the other hand, thanks to the power of the Fujifilm GFX100S and its 102 megapixel, I can crop the heck out of my images and still get usable and printable results.

Therefore, afraid to miss out on something beautiful on the wide end, I decided to go with the wider zoom, trusting the crop-power of my GFX100S to get a more compressed look.

In fact, I am now thinking that as a second lens, I’ll probably go for the Fujinon GF100-200mmF5.6, which I got my hands on in store, and it actually surprised me how light it is for its size. “Definitely portable” I thought. It will fit well and be easy to carry in my Photohiker trekking backpack.

But of course one step after another.

In early 2021, I already supported Fujifilm by buying the XF27mmF2.8 R WR (which you can see here), the XF80mm Macro, the Fujifilm GFX100S and the GF32-64mmF4. One more 2K lens right now would mean deciding between gear and marriage. ;)

But in not too distant future, I imagine my GF lens arsenal to look like this:

Yep, no fast lenses in the lineup for now, but I have a couple of f/1.2 and f/1.4 primes on the X system, so I’ll get plenty of bokeh out of that system when I need it.

So, the Fujifilm GFX100S and the GF32-64mmF4 will mark my first steps into the G mount system. Now all I need is to get those nice packages shipped, and I hope that maybe this summer I can already hike on the Dolomites with it.

Crop & Print

I love to print. From photobooks to single images.

And sometimes I print rather big.

But even my biggest print at my home (90x60cm / 35×23 inches) looks absolutely fantastic when taken with 24 MP.

So why the heck do I need a Fujifilm GFX100S, if my APS-C gear does a great job already?

The answer is: crop!

In fact, I assume that not only for me, but also for many of you, cropping is a very fast and effective post production step we sometimes take to improve our images.

So you get it: I don’t need to print bigger. But what the GFX system allows me to do better than any other system out there, is to still print big even images that are significantly cropped.

For example, this image I took at the Gardena mountain pass with my X-T4 and XF10-24mmF4 looks great on the web. But truth is that I had to crop quite a bit to get it how I wanted, hence mostly focused on the Sasslong. And while on Instagram it still looks great, I doubt I could print it as big as I sometimes like to print.

But if my starting point would have been 102 Megapixel instead of 50MP or 26MP, then I’d know I’d still retain so much information in my cropped image, that I could still make a huge epic print out of it.

With that said, every system has its Pros and Cons. The balance Fuji’s APS-C system offers remains unmatched to me compared to full frame of medium format. But the GFX shines in an area where I love to take pictures and to print: landscape photography.

This is why I bought the Fujifilm GFX system, and I look forward to finally capture the lovely Dolomites with it ;).
