Fringer just released the Fringer EF/FX Smart Adapters Firmware 2.50.
In addition to the PDAF support for Canon EF600/4L II , more features as well as bug fixes have been added.

Fringer just upload a video on his youtube channel (video above), showing the Face/Eye detection tracking using the Fujifilm X-T3 with Canon EF600/4L II adapted via Fringer EF-FX AF Autofocus smart adapter with firwmare ver. 2.50.
As you can see, the eye/face AF works really very well in his video demo. He writes:
“To my surprise it works incredibly well on X-T3 when doing AF-C tracking. I set X-T3 to AF-C mode, CH (11 fps) and Face/Eye detection on. The focusing object is a person riding a electric motorcycle moving fast towards the camera.
30 pictures were taken in less than 3 seconds. The focus areas were cropped at 100% scale and combined to the following picture“
“I also tested video mode Face/Eye tracking. Thanks to the great improvements of PDAF performance and coverage of X-Trans IV CMOS, both still and video mode works very well.
The new firmware ver 2.50 for Fringer EF-FX AF smart adapters will be out soon, and it will add support for Canon EF600/4L II.

Randall Herrera Youtube – Fuji XT3 Eye AF (Part2) and Fringer adapter on Sigma 18-35 and XF35mmF1.4. Works much better on Fujifilm X-T3 than on Fujifilm X-T2. Sony still a tiny bit better.

Fujifilm X-T3 got much improved AF performance. I found it’s so far the best X camera that can use adapted EF mount lenses. Now all its full sensor covered PDAF points are supported. And as the low light AF capability has been improved to -3EV, AF successful rate got greatly improved. Meanwhile, WIDE/TRACKING mode and FACE/EYE focus are all works much better. Fringer just uploaded a video showing the performance of the Sigma 50-100/1.8 on Fujifilm X-T3 using the Fringer EF-FX Smart adapter.
He is using it in low light and taking advantage the full sensor PDAF coverage on the Fujifilm X-T3.

Fringer’s Contax 645 – GFX smart adapter is finally ready for demo. You can see pictures of the prototpye as well videos and samples images below. (Arca quick release compatible) tripod mount included.
Additional information
“GFX50s doesn’t support PDAF while Contax 645 lenses are designed for PDAF. Thus, it is extremely difficult to let those lenses AF fast and accurately on GFX50s. Two weeks ago I thought 140/2.8 would never AF properly on GFX50s. But finally I made it work just like the 45/2.8 and 35/3.5 do. However, their AF performance will never be comparable to native G mount lenses.
I have to emphasize AF is an experimental function of the adapter, on current stage at least. Don’t expect them perform like on a SLR. If AF performance can’t satisfy you, MF is always available. In the future, maybe a GFX body with PDAF support will come out and finally save us.
So far I only have one prototype in hand. In a month or so there will be a small batch of products ready for beta tests. Thus, don’t ask me where to buy it now.
